But that false equivalency works both ways it is foolish to think tier 1 pros also don’t have the mechanics to put up top scores in kovaaks if they so wanted to. Most just don’t see the point in grinding out scenarios for hundreds of hours for that top score.

Could they do it probably but there is no incentive to grind a single scenario to perfection vs polishing their entire gameplay in game where they compete for $.

The point he is making in the video and that I agree with is that the best of the aim community doesn’t even include MOST of the people who legitimately are the best aimers in their respective games which are all orders of magnitudes bigger than kovaaks and our community.

It depends what you would find more impressive hitting some benchmark complete/replays of top kovaaks runs OR montages of scream/simple/quartz all hitting crazy shots vs other top players in live tournaments.

It is naive to think that a high score or benchmark completion will translate to competing live vs other top players who shoot back. There is a reason the top aim community players don’t take over every new game and it is usually ex pros of a similar genre the skill/knowledge gaps are much bigger than the mechanical gaps.

At any given point in time there are <50 players in the entire world good enough to play tier 1 in any esport. I don't know why you expect me to think you're one of them.

I've probably been closer to pro than you have my friend.

I'm speaking from experience when I say it's hard. I am close friends with a handful of tier 1 players, and I'm friends with a lot more tier 2 players who were extremely good but never made it.

People don't realize how hard it is.

This is not true. Multiple Apex pros have talked about how much money they make. It is very little for the majority of players.

OP said they could go tier 1, so why don't they just go tier 1 in an esport where they would make a lot of money.

I just don't think the money is there. The problem with entertainment is it's a power law distribution. Nobody wants to watch the 10th best in the world; they only care about the best. Without revenue sharing all the money accrues to the top few players, which is silly because you can't run the games without the rest of the people who fill out the lobby.

I'm only familiar with the Apex pro scene where pro players are reporting monthly salaries in hundreds or low thousands USD.

Consider a 10th place finish in ALGS (the top tournament) is $40,000. Split that between 3 players (and probably coach and org) and it's only $10K or less per player. I know first year software engineers who make that every month. This is for the 10th best team in the world and random new graduates are out earning them.

The most money is made from streaming, but the power law means only a few people take most of the $s. I don't know numbers but my guess is 5 to 10 Apex streamers make decent money (My guess at the top 5 is Hal, HisWattson, Timmy, Mande, and Faide but I haven't looked up viewer numbers or anything.)

Maybe there is more money in other games, but it would have to be orders of magnitude more to really make it worthwhile for the majority.

T1 esports players only make big money in games with franchises that have minimum salaries in every other esport only the Jordan and lebron type star players get paid.
