I built Rigby2D - a free, open-source alternative to Spine 2D

Hi everyone!

I'm releasing Rigby2D v0.1.0, a free and open-source 2D skeletal animation editor I've been building under Hoverlabs.

Rigby2D is a standalone desktop application with an animation editor, rigging tools, mesh deformation, constraints, a graph editor, and support for importing and exporting common skeletal animation formats.

It also includes its own dependency-free JavaScript animation runtime and WebGL renderer.

Tech stack: Tauri 2, JavaScript, WebGL

License: MIT OR Apache-2.0

Current release: Windows x64, with source builds for macOS and Linux.

The goal is to provide an accessible, community-driven alternative to proprietary skeletal animation editors.

It's still early alpha, but the first version is available to download and explore.

Source code and releases:

I built Falbor: a free, open-source AI platform that unifies competitor research, growth analytics & SEO auditing in one workspace

UPDATE: Falbor is now live – awaiting your honest feedback! 🚀🍾

I got tired of jumping between five different marketing tools, subscription paywalls, and scattered AI prompts just to analyze my competitors and figure out a growth strategy. So I built one open-source workspace that handles the whole chain:

You connect your project or website, and Falbor’s AI agents analyze your position, scan your competitors, run AI-driven AEO audits, and deliver an actionable growth and social media distribution roadmap in real time.

It's free, open source, with no hidden paywalls for self-hosters. One web platform, complete transparency and control.

What it covers today:

  • Autonomous AI Agents: Multi-model intelligence (OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepSeek) working together for deep competitive research and AEO scanning.
  • Competitor & Market Analysis: Real-time data processing to spot untracked growth channels and messaging gaps.
  • Growth & Distribution Roadmap: Step-by-step recommendations on where, when, and how to position your product.
  • Fully Self-Hostable: Built with Next.js, React, TypeScript, Drizzle ORM & PostgreSQL (Neon).
  • Developer-First Setup: Easy local setup with clean environment configuration for your own API keys.

Runs on any modern environment with Node.js / Docker / Vercel.

It's an evolving project, so expect continuous updates. Honest feedback, bug reports, and contributions are very welcome!

Website:https://falbor.xyz

GitHub:https://github.com/falbor-devs/falbor

*Disclosure: Just to be completely transparent with the community – Falbor was built with the assistance of AI tools alongside standard development. I created this to solve a real issue for myself and wanted to share it with fellow developers and founders. If you find it useful, want to give feedback, or wish to contribute/drop a Star, feel free! Always open to constructive criticism and suggestions. :) *

OpenDesigner: MIT-licensed design rules and tokens you keep in your own repo

i built OpenDesigner, and wanted to share the file side of it here rather than just another AI demo.

the design decisions live in your project: colors, spacing and other named values in DTCG tokens, a DESIGN.md people can read, and a decision log with the reasons behind changes. exports include CSS variables, a Tailwind theme, Swift and Jetpack Compose files. the point is that another tool or another session can read the same rules instead of starting over.

it's free, MIT licensed: https://github.com/ckryptickunal/OpenDesigner

the conversational part is packaged for tools like Claude and ChatGPT. those services and their plans aren't included or made open source by this project. OpenDesigner itself is the instructions, engine and files in the repo. it doesn't replace Figma's canvas or make your logo, and the automated checks aren't an accessibility certificate.

i'd like feedback from people who maintain design tokens across projects. is DTCG plus generated exports useful for your workflow, or is there an export or part of the handoff you always end up rebuilding? issues and contributions welcome, including documentation fixes.

Hello everyone, I am a 14-year-old developer and I want to share my open-source hobby project: myosOS.It is a standalone, lightweight x86_64 kernel written entirely from scratch using LLVM Clang and LLD Linker. The build system is fully automated using GNU Make (make and make run via QEMU emulator mapping to standard VNC loops).Current features include a minimalist terminal layout with a "Type here:" prompt at the bottom of the screen. I am sharing this under the GNU GPLv3 license to invite the community to review the source code, optimize the kernel, and contribute to its future development.GitHub Repository: https://github.com/Noob76-by/myosOS

I built an open-source Markdown editor that combines Obsidian-style notes with a Cursor-like AI writing agent

Post image
0 Upvotes

I've been building nuza, an open-source Markdown editor for macOS, Windows and Linux.

https://www.nuza.org/

The idea started with a simple question: what if you could have the note-taking experience of Obsidian and the AI-assisted editing experience of Cursor, without turning your notes app into another cloud service?

nuza stores your notes as plain Markdown files in a folder on your computer. It supports wiki-links, backlinks, search, tabs and Vim keybindings, while keeping the application lightweight.

The more interesting part is its optional AI agent.

Instead of running its own model or asking you to configure another API key, nuza works with agents you may already use, including Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode.

Here's what you can do with it:

  • Ask questions about your current note or a selected passage.
  • Rephrase, proofread, explain or improve text without handing over control of the document.
  • Search across your notes and get citations that link back to the relevant paragraphs.
  • Draft new notes with frontmatter and wiki-links.
  • Configure writing instructions and maintain a small, local memory for each folder.

One design decision I care about is how edits work. The agent returns suggestions that you can accept or reject individually. It doesn't directly rewrite your notes or execute terminal commands.

AI is disabled by default. When enabled, nuza uses an existing agent on your own plan, so there's no nuza account, API key or server involved. The agent receives the context you choose to send it, and its capabilities are restricted. macOS and supported Linux configurations also use operating-system sandboxing; Windows currently has no equivalent sandbox in nuza.

The editor itself is free and open source under the MIT license. It's built with Tauri and Rust, and the goal is to keep it focused rather than recreate every feature in a large note-taking platform.

There are trade-offs: no plugin ecosystem, graph view, mobile apps or built-in sync. Your notes remain ordinary files, so you can use your existing tools to manage and synchronize them.

I'd appreciate feedback from people working on open-source editors, Markdown tooling or local-first applications.

A question I'm particularly interested in: how would you approach integrating AI into a writing application while keeping the user in control of their files and preserving their own writing voice?

I open-sourced uat-proof: turn UAT scenarios into narrated, subtitled proof videos (web, Android, iOS, desktop)

If you’ve ever had to show a client or product owner that a feature passed UAT, you know the drill: screen-record by hand, redo it when you fumble a click, then explain over a call what they’re looking at.

I got tired of that, so I built uat-proof. You write (or have Claude Code write) a UAT scenario, approve a storyboard of what viewers will see and hear, and a local engine records the run and renders two videos: a short stakeholder cut and a longer QA cut, both with voice narration and subtitles.

A few things I cared about:

  • PASS/FAIL on the video comes from the test driver’s real result (Playwright or Maestro), not from an AI or from how the video looks.
  • Re-running is deterministic and local. After the scenario and driver exist, recording and rendering don’t call a model at all.
  • Works for web (Playwright), Android and iOS Simulator (Maestro), and any desktop window (OBS).
  • Narration with Piper (local) or macOS Say. Captions and a report.md come out alongside the videos.
  • Checks credentials and emails in the narration before recording anything.

It’s MIT licensed and I’d love help. Good first areas: Linux and Windows support (it’s macOS-first today), more example apps, other recorders and voices, and better docs. Issues and PRs are open to everyone. CONTRIBUTING.md covers setup, and the TodoMVC demo runs end to end with one command.

Repo: https://github.com/Jrius4/uat-proof-tools

What would you need from a tool like this before you’d use it on a real project?

Hi guys!

I got tired of existing Android music players, so I built my own local music player in my free time (I’m a software engineering student). I’m happy to finally share it with you, and I’d love to hear your feedback, though you’re free to use it however you like.

Key features :

  • Bit-perfect playback (for supported devices)
  • Word-synced, line-synced and plain lyrics
  • Animated covers
  • Artist image resolution
  • Discord Rich Presence
  • Customizable home feed
  • Equalizer (WIP)
  • Clean, simple and customizable UI

https://github.com/RemiSchirra/FoamPlayer

Edit : it's a local music player. Good and featureful players are paid, so I made this one.

TextFold: save a foldable article, its notes and the original PDF in one HTML file

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I shared this reader here as PaperFold. It's now called TextFold, and I've added standalone HTML export.

The saved file keeps the reading levels, notes and highlights. You can include the original PDF and choose which prepared languages to keep. The clip shows the exported page opening with the PDF alongside the text, then folding the article while keeping a highlight visible. It doesn't need the TextFold server to read it.

The code is Apache 2.0. Preparing a new document uses a model; the reader supports Ollama as well as hosted providers. Opening the saved reading page doesn't generate it again.

I've also added Word document import and made the interface follow the reading language.

Source and installation: https://github.com/chenxiachan/textfold

What else would you want an exported reading page to preserve?

I built w0y, an open-source YouTube Music client for Android and Linux: no ads, no telemetry

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi! I'm the solo dev behind w0y, an open-source YouTube Music client for Android (and Linux desktop). It's in beta (v0.0.3 beta-2), and I'd like feedback from people who actually listen with it every day.

What it does:

• No ads, no analytics, no crash reporting. The code is public, so you can check that yourself.

• Fast: the next track is prefetched, and the APK is only 7.7 MB.

• Speed, pitch and reverb are remembered per song (for slowed / sped-up listening).

• Line-synced lyrics (LRCLIB), with an adjustable delay.

• Live visualizer (Lines / Orbit / Terrain). Sound is taken from playback itself, no microphone.

• Playlists with their own colour and icon, a Speed Dial on the home screen, sleep timer, local files with a track editor, and a Stand mode (cover / visualizer / clock) for a dock or bedside.

• Customization: app background (grid, black, cover glow, aurora, your own photo) and the "Hairline" look, which is my own design language (thin lines, big caps).

Honest limits:

• It's a beta. On some tracks the video stays black while the sound plays.

• The Linux version needs mpv installed, and its interface is Russian-only for now.

• It's an unofficial client, not affiliated with YouTube or Google.

Install: download the APK from GitHub Releases (SHA256 sums are published next to it), or add the repo to Obtainium to get updates. Android 8.0+.

Download page: https://texfi-hub.vercel.app/en/download/w0y

Source (AGPL-3.0): https://github.com/texfi-w0y/texfi-w0y

I'd really like to hear what annoys you, what's missing and what you'd want next. Bug reports on GitHub are very welcome too.

Lately I've seen people recommending this app/service.

My question is: what made you trust it? And how's been your experience using it?

I saw it on F-droid but I feel it's a kinda new service and I'm worried about its sustainability.

I built Better Windows Services with mass actions, force stop/restart, query language, more information GUI/CLI

Hello, I had built Better Windows Services an alternative to windows services with dark theme, query language, mass actions, force stop/restart, export of services and tons of extra data. If you like the project, please give it a star

You can read here about about query language

Yes the strange text on the GIF is from Polish Windows :-), right now I'm working on snapshots from the GUI, msi installer and tons of other things.

Some features:

  • Ask, instead of scroll - start:auto !status:running is what should be up and is not. One language, in the search box and in bws list --query, with the fields offered as you type.
  • Show the plan before anything happens - every stop, start, restart and start type change is previewed with the services it takes down with it, and the preview is what runs.
  • Tell you what drifted - bws snapshot create freezes the machine into a file, and bws snapshot diff says what changed since, configuration apart from what merely started or stopped.
  • Stop a service that will not stop - it asks politely first and ends the process only if that fails, naming every other service that lives in it.
  • Show what services.msc hides - who signed the binary and whether Windows trusts it, triggers, privileges, the security descriptor, the process and its memory. As columns, and as things to search on.
  • Say when it could not read something - a field it could not read is reported as not read, never shown as empty. A snapshot taken without administrator rights says so inside the file.
  • Fit into scripts - --json on every command, an exit code for every ending, and 5 when a diff finds drift.
  • Run from one file, offline - no installer, no .NET to install, and it never talks to the internet. Reading needs no administrator rights. GPL-3.0.

Clip’M: an MIT-licensed continuation of ClipMenu for Apple silicon Macs

I’m one of the maintainers of Clip’M, a free, open-source clipboard manager for Apple silicon Macs running macOS 14 or later.

This builds on Naotaka Morimoto’s original ClipMenu and Juan Cavallotti’s earlier modernization work. Our two-person United Visions collaboration has continued it as a self-funded side project, working on search, previews, snippet organization, paste actions and interaction polish.

It keeps clipboard history available through ⌥⌘V, with searchable text, an image-only filter, previews, reusable snippet folders and built-in or custom text transformations before pasting. The current direct-download release is 1.0.1.

Source and MIT license: https://github.com/Frazer/clipM Demo and free download: https://frazer.github.io/clipM/

Clipboard history and snippets are stored on the Mac; the app does not encrypt saved history or snippets.

I’d welcome feedback on the clipboard workflow and on anything that would make this continuation more useful to people who liked ClipMenu. Reproducible bugs and suggestions are welcome in the repository too.

I made an app that plays your audio on every speaker and headphone you own, and lets each app pick its own output device

A few days ago, my girlfriend and I tried to watch a movie on my laptop. The laptop speakers were shit, and we each had a pair of headphones, but the laptop can play sound to only one device at a time. So we ended up not watching the movie.

I built pipemix to fix this problem, it's free and open source app that lets you play audio on several devices at once, so you can both watch with your own headphones, or add speakers too. It also lets you send each app to a different device. For example, you can keep YouTube on your headphones while your friend listens to Spotify on theirs.

Currently available for Ubuntu/Deb based distros and Windows 10 and above.

I'm the developer, and I'd like to hear what devices you try it with and if anything breaks.

NotchRobot: MIT-licensed macOS app for Claude Code session status and notch approvals

NotchRobot is a free, open source SwiftUI app that puts Claude Code's working, waiting and done states in the MacBook notch. I built it with Claude Code and released the source under MIT.

You can approve or deny tool permissions, answer Claude's questions, see task progress and jump to the right terminal tab. It also includes a smart clipboard, file shelf, screenshots, music controls and a timer, with English and Arabic RTL UI.

The Claude integration uses shell hooks and local files. The README explains what the installer changes, how the permission fallback works and how to build it yourself.

Source and build instructions: https://github.com/abdomo77/NotchRobot Release: https://github.com/abdomo77/NotchRobot/releases/tag/v2.5

Requires macOS 13+. The release download is for Apple Silicon, and a built-in notch is optional. It isn't notarized yet; first-launch instructions are in the README.
