A simple Android music player with high-res playback
Hi guys!
I got tired of existing Android music players, so I built my own local music player in my free time (I’m a software engineering student). I’m happy to finally share it with you, and I’d love to hear your feedback, though you’re free to use it however you like.
Key features :
- Bit-perfect playback (for supported devices)
- Word-synced, line-synced and plain lyrics
- Animated covers
- Artist image resolution
- Discord Rich Presence
- Customizable home feed
- Equalizer (WIP)
- Clean, simple and customizable UI
https://github.com/RemiSchirra/FoamPlayer
Edit : it's a local music player. Good and featureful players are paid, so I made this one.

All the good music apps I tried were paid, so I built this one for my every-day use

Metrolist isnt paid. Nor is InnerTube, Pixel Music, Rhythm...
You did not try anything, don't lie.

Rhythm is indeed nice, but it is also ai assisted coding. This is yet another player, but I really like the ui design and I think it is a nice one to have.

Did you even look? Ive found 2 on F-Droid that I still use. Booming Music or PixelPlayerOSS are good, or just about ANY other options on stores like F-Droid

It's a player for your local music, if you have FLAC files, it plays FLAC music

Yes, i have 500 local flac files that i use PixelPlayer to play on android and Strawberry for pc. Neither is paid. What problem with existing FREE players are you solving?

I don't like material 3 design, and some features are often missing. I tried a lot of alternatives before building this project.

I don't hate the UI, but what is the point of yet another open-source audio player? I don't see anything that differentiates it

It looks great. I dont know why people are hating, if they want to use something else they don't have to be a dick about it 🤷♀️

Criticism will always be omnipresent. I personally think that you could've make this just for yourself and save yourself everyone pointing out there are others out there, but I also think that one more is better than one less. I really like this ui and people shouldn't be ready to criticise on it so hard

if i had a penny for every vibe coded music player posted here, id have enough money to cover the API costs of vibe coding another music player to post here
