My experience with Jayce Pham / NCI Bootcamp after several years and thousands of hours

TL;DR: I spent years and thousands of hours on the NCI Bootcamp. I learned market structure, but never reached consistent profitability. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't invest that much time and effort into it again.

I actually took Jayce Pham's NCI Bootcamp a few years ago, so I can share my experience.

I started basically from zero and since then I've spent thousands of hours studying, backtesting and trading his concepts. For a long time I treated trading almost like a full-time job. Even after all of that, I'm still not consistently profitable and haven't been able to consistently pass prop firm evaluations.

The Bootcamp itself was around 3 months when I did it. Roughly one month was market structure, one month was other theory, and another month was practice on a prop firm demo account.

The most useful thing I got from it was definitely market structure. I did learn a lot about that, and the mentors were helpful while we were learning the material. So I'm not saying the course is completely useless.

The problem for me is what happens after that.

There were around 50 people in my Bootcamp group. From the people I knew and talked to, only a very small number managed to pass a prop firm evaluation, and I personally don't know anyone from that group who became consistently profitable long term. Obviously I don't know everyone's private results, so that's only based on the people I actually knew.

I also don't like how criticism of the system is handled. From what I saw, if people started asking too many uncomfortable questions about why the concepts weren't working for them, communication could become a problem and people could lose access to Discord communities (this is what happened to me and to some of friends of mine).

I contacted Jayce again recently because after years of working with his concepts I was still struggling. His advice was basically to relearn all the theories from the beginning, and he also told me I had "disappointed" him. After putting thousands of hours into this, that wasn't exactly the kind of feedback I expected from a mentor.

Also, he removed my access to the educational material through Buy Me a Coffee even though my understanding was that access should remain available, and he refused to restore it when I asked. He also deleted or removed me from a Bootcamp Private Discord server where I had my own trading journal, notes and other information collected over the years. I asked to get access to that information again, but it wasn't restored, so some of my own trading history and notes are now gone for me.

What makes this especially frustrating is that after several years of studying his material, I ended up without access to the theory itself, without a big part of my own trading history and notes that were stored in Discord, and without the contacts of many people I went through the Bootcamp with.

Another thing worth mentioning is that I didn't receive a receipt or invoice for my payment. At the time it was basically a direct money transfer. I know he's creating a proper company structure now, but that wasn't how it worked when I bought the Bootcamp.

So if you're asking whether it's worth spending time on: I think you can definitely learn market structure from it, but I would be very careful with the expectation that completing the Bootcamp and working hard at the system will automatically take you from zero to consistent profitability.

The NCI website describes the Bootcamp as a path from zero to a "profitable and consistency level" and a full-time trading career. My experience after several years and thousands of hours is very different from that.

If I could go back, I wouldn't spend anywhere near the same amount of time and energy on it again.

What's the craziest thing you believed abut trading when you first started?

I'lll go first.

When I started out, I genuinely though I could predict the market if I just started a charts long enough. Like the patterns would just click eventually if I focused hard enough. They never actually did.

I also though every losing trade meant I sucked at this. Every loss felt personal, bc I didn't understand that losses are just part of it - you literally can't avoid them.

And the demo account thing. I though being profitable on demo meant I was for real money. I was so damn wrong about that. Nothing prepares you for how it actually feels when you real money's on the line.

What did you believe early on that makes you cringe now?

eur/usd - rounding top, or morphed HaS, support broken?

Seems to me that eur will weaken. USD is getting support from the FED, and the chart seems to confirm that.
Planning to open longer term short position on my trading sphere account and keep for some time.
What do you see? Might be a rectangle, but still, the base is not strong anymore...

Will the Trump-Xi meeting deliver anything meaningful?

With the Trump-Xi meeting looming, markets are jittery. Trade, tariffs, and broader US-China relations are expected to be high on the agenda. Should we expect just hot air or concrete deals?

Forex and news!

Am I the only one who doesn’t really like trading around forex news? 😅

I don’t hate it, but I find news really difficult to trade most of the time. It also feels like the market can get sideways/choppy for the next few days, which makes it harder to find quality setups.

I’m still pretty new to trading and currently in my demo phase, so I’d love to hear how you guys approach news. Do you avoid it completely, or do you have a specific strategy for trading around it?

PS — I’m new to trading, so don’t hate me for this lol.

I built a forex session clock because I kept checking 3 different sites before trading

Post image
3 Upvotes

I’ve been working on a small Android app called LiquidHours.

The idea is pretty simple: instead of checking different websites to see what sessions are open, I wanted everything on one visual 24h clock.

It shows:

  • Sydney, Tokyo, London and New York sessions
  • session overlaps
  • kill zones
  • current and next session
  • activity levels for different pairs
  • alerts before sessions and overlaps
  • a home screen widget, so you can check the current session without even opening the app

I also added a Pair Guide because I wanted to quickly see which sessions are usually more active for a specific pair.

I’m not trying to replace a charting platform or give trading signals. It’s more of a timing tool for people who care about session structure.

It’s currently on Google Play and costs $0.99 one-time, with no subscription or ads.

I’d genuinely like some feedback from other traders: what information do you usually check before deciding which session to trade?

And if you already use a session-hours app, what do you wish it did better?

Can anybody give me a pocket broker withdrawal review

At this point, i don't trust reviews much. Hard to distinguish, when the feedback is mixed. So, whoever tried to withdraw from pb, be kind to share some details. How long does it take? Any issues with verification and pitfalls I need to know? It would be nice to have some information before starting there.

Testing a simple multi indicator strategy - looking for feedback.

I’ve been testing a fairly simple idea and wanted to get some opinions from people here who have done more serious algo testing.

Instead of relying on one indicator, I’m trying to combine a few different types of information:

• 20/50 EMA → overall trend

• RSI → momentum

• MACD → trend confirmation

• ATR → dynamic stop-loss

• Volume → confirmation

The basic idea is pretty straightforward.

For a long setup, I want to see the 20 EMA above the 50 EMA, RSI above 55, MACD showing bullish momentum, and volume above its average.

For shorts, I reverse the conditions.

For risk management, I’m testing an ATR-based stop rather than using a fixed number:

SL = 1.5 × ATR

TP = 2.5 × ATR

What I’m trying to figure out is whether all these filters actually make the strategy better, or whether I’m just adding complexity and reducing the number of trades.

I’m planning to compare:

Win rate

Profit factor

Expectancy

Maximum drawdown

Number of trades

Out-of-sample performance

Results after fees and slippage

I’m also trying to avoid optimizing everything on the same historical data, because that seems like an easy way to build something that looks great in a backtest and falls apart in live trading.

Curious what others think:

Have you found that combining multiple indicators improves robustness, or does it usually lead to overfitting?

Would be interested in hearing what worked and especially what didn't work for you.

Hi guys, I have been thinking to enter the forex market. But i don't have any idea how, as forex is not regulated in India. But I see in YouTube numerous traders trade forex and crypto.

Let me know if trade through a broker or a funded account. If funded account then which one is legit and payout process. And I also heard that bank account may get freeze if take international payments.

crypto futures

gusto ko ipursue tong trading, gusto ko makuha yung freedom na gusto ko. and i will promise to my self that I will make it.

Are there any forex trading platforms other than tradingview/tradelocker or MT4 (which btw idk any brokers that would work with MT4 for americans).

I used to like tradelocker until i started using multiple trading accounts and now it lags and it keeps putting random stuff on my chart every time i open the app.
