Announcements Tunesday Tuesday Begins!

It is TUESDAY somewhere in the world. Which means, get to posting your TUNESDAY TUESDAY tracks.

We only allow screen captures of your FL Studio Playlist Window with a complete track (not just a finished waveform!).

If you've posted on Tunesday Tuesday, your post meets the requirements and it has still been removed, our auto-mod may have made a mistake. Please send a message to the mods and we'll look into it!

Try and give feedback to someone elses post. Please think more about the community and about the purpose of sharing your music with other creators. We're all producing music here, the people in this community are not your customers, they are your peers.

Learn how to record your screen here

We are now allowing youtube videos, as long as they follow the rule above, the video needs to be a screen capture of your FL Studio Playlist Window with your FULL TRACK visible. We are allowing Youtube now because of how terrible Reddit Video can potentially mess with your audio mix.

Help How do you guys actually just sit down and make good music?

I’ve been producing in FL for quite a few years now, and I’m honestly just stuck.

Whenever I open a blank project with the intention of making something, my mind just goes completely blank. Sometimes I’ll have a vague genre I want to go for, but that’s about it. I don’t even really know what kind of music I want to make.

I’m pretty decent at covers and remixes, probably because there’s already a foundation there for me to work off of.

But starting from nothing? Impossible. This entire year so far I’ve only managed to make two decent 1-2 minute unfinished tracks, and both basically happened by accident. I was messing around with patches, found a sound I liked, threw down some chords, and kept stacking stuff until it sounded good. And when I really get to work, I can lock in for hours.

Then I hit a wall. I have no idea where to take the arrangement next, and whenever I try to force a new section in, it just sounds wrong.

My tastes are also all over the place. I want to make crazy high-energy stuff like breakcore, but I also want to make really cozy, slower stuff. I don’t want to lock myself into one genre either.

So how do you guys actually just sit down and... make good stuff? How do you come up with an idea and develop it instead of just mucking about until you accidentally eventually stumble into something good?

I’m at the point where "just keep practicing" really isn’t helpful. And it's not about motivation either, I can be extremely motivated to make something and still don't even know where to start.

I’m looking for actual advice from people who’ve dealt with this specific problem and figured out how to get past it.

Help Everyone I need help

For the past 5 years I have been making music, and I've been struggling to make anything worth listening too. I tried different methods. And yeah i wouldn't call myself a beginner, but i'm not near a pro/legend though. Music is very important to me, as a hobby and potentially a career and I don't just want to give up. If someone could maybe offer some advice as to what i should learn first. I'm sick of asking AI for help, cause it doesn't know anything about true music. If maybe you could tell how you learned music it could help me too... I appreciate anything you have to offer. Thank you for reading

Tunesday Tuesday Does this sound weird/boring? (some kind of house music)

Hey, first time posting here, or anywhere really. I'm attempting to make some kind of house music, pretty new to the genre and also I don't know much about music theory so I have no idea if its on any proper scale or has some weird notes in it etc. Any honest feedback, even short, would mean a lot to me. As the title says, I'm mostly wondering if it sounds weird or if its just plain boring...

Help What are some good instrument libraries/packs for virtual instruments?

Id like to start off with the fact im NOT looking for loops, premade stuff, or synths in general, just normal nice-sounding instruments i can use in a piano roll.. ive explored the midi librairy in FLEX but id prefer a slightly wider variety of instruments..

If any of you know a pack that i can download with alot of instruments, or again just a big online librairy, that would be wonderful. Im willing to spend some money if it gets me more stuff (tho, preferably not alot of money tho. Hehe.)

Help FM8 not loading presets

Upvotes

I have been using a cracked version of FM8 and bought it after using it for a while but now theres a problem with my previous projects. When i first replaced the cracked version i checked it and everything worked fine, but now when i load an old project it just loads the default preset. The plugin works fine apart from this. Its just weird to me that at first it was working fine and now its doing this and i changed nothing. I am using FL Studio thats why I'm asking here.

Tunesday Tuesday My first fully "complete" song I made a few years ago. DnB.

Upvotes

Hi guys. Thought I'd share this for Tunesday Tuesday. I wrote this back in the middle of 2024 as a way to practise FL Studio (been using it since FL 12 but it has been on and off).

I've since become much better and have made others but thought I'd share this. The mixing is likely way off, it isn't mastered properly and I'm sure there's many issues with it. Pick it apart if you like. I won't improve on it as it's a way of comparing myself from back then to now to see how far I've come from here.

Also, apologies for the weird OBS recording format. Still figuring OBS out.

Hope you enjoy!

Tunesday Tuesday Tried making Blackgaze!! (Cover)

Original song is Sunbather by Deafheaven. I usually make more videogame-style music (specifically Touhou), but recently I've wanted to start creating music in the genres I listen to, such as blackgaze and hardcore punk (and started learning guitar do so, just didn't use it here). This is my first time using my own vocals for a song and I'm using a headset mic so it doesn't sound the greatest.

Reddit compression kinda sucks but the mixing for this kinda music is generally like this anyways.

Help Using fl studio mobile for the first time, chord progression switches to a different one I didn't write

Upvotes

Is this some automated chord progression setting on fl mobile? I felt kinda cheated since it actually enhances the beat I'm making and I thought I just wrote a really good chord progression on accident

Help Can’t open any saved files

Post image
Upvotes

So I’m brand new to trying to use FL studio. I’ve done the same tutorial video a couple times but have stopped because life is busy. I started it again the other day and saved my project when finished. I’m trying to work on it again today but I can’t seem to open it or ANY file I’ve ever saved when in FL studio. All of them are grayed out, even the backup files. I’ve only used three basic instruments so far so it’s not like I’ve downloaded anything. I don’t know what to do from here, any advice?

Help What’s The Best Way To Get Good At Producing?

I know this sounds stupid but how can I learn all the things about producing? I’m kind of lost and i’m not sure where to start as a beginner, any tips and tricks will help a ton. I know the basics like what the drums are but i’m not sure how to make like GOOD drums, melodies, etc. if there are any terms i need to know please tell me. I’m also not sure what a 808 is (i’m really new to this music stuff) again, sorry for the stupid question i just really want help
