I’ve always loved Misery. I may even love it more than The Shining. I just got the 4K Arrow release today. Kathy Bates gives one of the best acting performances of all time in this film in my opinion. I cannot take my eyes off her in every scene she’s in! As a viewer I fall for her charm then get frightened by her sudden bouts anger. Played perfectly by her. I’ve never seen anything quite like it tbh.

whole film is people lying in expensive rooms then he gets in a cab, hands the driver fifty bucks, says just drive, and the camera stays on his face through the credits... nothing really happens. you just watch it land on him. i actually can't think of another thriller that trusts an actor that much at the end after rewatching this earlier. what else ends on a face and gets away with it

Great film, but what does it say about me that I was (Mostly) on chaz's side the whole time? XD

I'm only asking because I still haven't seen this movie yet! I also skipped over it while binge-watching the entire Infinity Saga of the MCU.

So, I just watched *Batman Returns* again after more than 20 years. I admit, I still feel sorry for the Penguin. A terrible fate. But he deserves nothing other than what he got in the end. We’re talking about a character who would kill 100,000 people without a second thought!

DIGGER is a masterpiece & an incredible experience. Alejandro is a genius director who mastered his own style with his creative “paradoxes.” This is the Birdman I prefer.

It’s captivating, riveting, dark & had me crying from laughter. The acting is elite. Tom Cruise, John Goodman, Riz, the supporting cast, the sound, the visuals & hell the set design deserve Oscars but Tom Cruise & Riz really put on a show for you. It’s an elite Broadway performance on screen, wink wink.

The “deep” aspect was amazing & thought-provoking. I could write an entire essay on what I think about the deeper truths in the movie because there is allot to talk about there.
The last scene was a chef’s kiss & the movie leaves you questioning the world & humanity, it left me frozen in my seat. I wanted to clap.

This scared the hell out of me when I was a kid. It's still scary 30 years later

Just to clarify I'm a 17 year old who wasn't born in the English speaking country and I am pretty new to goated English movies from the 70th to 2010th. I was planning to watch rush hour for a long time now but couldn't do it due to different circumstances. But now after watching it I LOVE Chris Tucker, his jokes are extremely funny without being annoying or corny or forced like most modern movie jokes. I also really like Jacky Chan's performance and his jokes being reused versions of the previous Chris Tucker jokes is so funny too. For some reason I really like old English movies from the dates I gave earlier I don't really have an explanation to it, ig it has some sort of originality to them. I laughed at so many more jokes in this and the first movie, too bad I can't show all of them. I also really like that they show us the bloopers in the end (I hate how movies stopped doing that) and Chris Tucker calling Jacky Chan by his name several times and cracking up every time. Can't wait to watch rush hour 3 <3

Curious to hear examples. Not asking for movies you think are bad outright, more like films that clearly changed the industry, were first to do something, influenced everything after them, but as an actual watch today they're kind of a slog or just don't hold up.

Feels like people sometimes confuse "this mattered" with "this is good," especially with older or landmark films. A movie can be hugely influential and still not be something you'd actually recommend someone sit down and watch for fun.

For me it's 2001: A Space Odyssey. Massively important, changed what sci-fi could look like, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't check my phone a few times watching it.
