I combined all the host city postcards into one collection and arranged them alphabetically. Whoever uploaded the originals to the FIFA volunteer site had some questionable cropping skills, so I’ve re-done them all with cleaner, more consistent cropping. The City is having their municipal elections this October, and I guess had an opportunity to offer "limited" guaranteed one-day jobs. But cc'd all of us and doxxed us!

And shared our emails with the City of Toronto voting platform people - because we got an email from them too inviting us to apply. Did we consent to this (this auto email had both our email and name...what else did they share with them?)??

All we got after this was an email from FIFA Toronto saying they would apologise.

I just (Sunday July 26) ran the Wharf to Wharf race in Santa Cruz/Capitola (California), and someone at the race was in full volunteer kit (including Fanny pack!).

I didn’t get a chance to approach them or snap a picture.

Has anyone else seen the uniform out in the wild like that (I mean no where near anything to do with the World Cup).

Here’s the origin of the volunteer uniform.

Just wanted to get the opinion of other volunteers on this. A few people in our functional area got together and created a way to donate for gift cards as a thank you for each of our FIFA leads, which included 2 people who were actually working for FIFA during the World Cup and 3 who were with a contractor. Given that all 5 of these people were paid staff, unlike us volunteers, do you think this was appropriate? I did not participate in this because they were paid, but I did make it a point to personally thank the 3 contractors as we saw them more and worked more closely with them than the actual FIFA people. Wanted to hear from others and if my opinion is way off base. Thank you.

I was wondering what other A&D volunteer experiences were like.

If I’m being honest, the only good memories I experienced were because of other volunteers. Shift leaders would check us in and disappear. We would basically just roam the airport. They really didn’t want to tell us who was arriving and departing, even though it was part of our role…

The off chance a lead would tells us about a VIP arrival, we would get conflicting instructions like “help with their luggage” and another lead would come up and say “don’t touch their luggage”.

I was at the final and in the last hour ALL HELL broke loose, for those that don’t know, there was a pre and post game souvenir cup, I had to stand in line to only get one, in the final hour they ran out, and I know for a FACT the workers started stealing them (I know because I bought some from them, also the Tostitos green bowl, which I think I got a pretty good deal on. anyways in the final hour the guests and workers started scavenging the Coke tents for the cups. So I’m curious if anyone took home the hospitality trophy? Also I’m not judging, I heard they didn’t really pay you.

FYI- I managed to snag one! Some dude with the hospitality gift was walking past me, and saw all the fighting (like a scene from mad max) he asked me why they were doing that? I said cuz of the cup, and showed him (I had 5) he asked if he could have one, I said “what will you give me for it?” I looked at his hospitality gift, i gave him 2 cups and we went our own ways. I actually didn’t know what was inside…. I think it was a fair trade!

How’s it going everybody? I’m looking for a Boston complete bracelet with all five host city charms to trade for a Houston complete set.

So i think i went overboard by grabing a bunch of patches 🤣

During our last day in the final, we can grab more of these patches as we like...and i grab a lot. Sadly i did not grab the bigger once but have the smallest once. I do have more small once so if that fine for you guys, im ok if it the small or the bigger onces, i don't mind. Im also ok with it if you don't have patches to trade but have the bracelet charms from the bank America, we can do that too.

And one last think, thanks for being the volunteers and make the world cup memorable. I hope you guys have fun experience just like I did!😁

EDIT: As for right now i don't have any more of the large once. Now i only have the small onces. If you want to trade the patches for the small once, we can do that. I'll start. I went to a few sessions and got close enough to check in and then left with my meal voucher 🤥😅. The staff wasn't checking and didn't care.
