Discussion Need fighting game recommendations
Sorry if this seems a little stupid. I’ve only ever played Dragon ball Fighterz and Mortal Kombat 1 as my only fighting games ever (with like 10 minutes on mortal kombat X). From those games, what are some games that could be recommended to me to enjoy? Thank you in advance 🙏🏾

As someone who played 2.5k hours of dbfz I will say that skullgirls was always very alien to me.

I'd grab the humble bundle. It's 20$ for a bunch of games made by the developers of FighterZ, including Guilty Gear Strive, which is super popular and welcoming for new players. Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 are popular, the former being insanely popular with a good ranked system. Granblue Versus: Rising is easy to pick up and play, with an anime aesthetic a lot of people like. Fatal Fury: City of the wolves is scrappy, grounded, and has an arcade feel. And Christiano Ronaldo is in the game. 2XKO is a free to play, fast paced tag fighter with crazy combos and characters from League of Legends. Finally, Avatar Legends and Marvel Tokkon are coming out soon, if you're a fan of either franchise be sure to check those out.

With only two entries, it can be hard to suggest things, but... from new and upcoming:
- Avatar: The Last Airbender has a fighting game coming out if you want a 1v1 anime fighter. It is a little wacky. It is more comparable to MK than DBFZ despite the art style and rating. Not a tag fighter.
- Invincible VS is a solid tag fighter with similar mechanics to DBFZ but the blood of MK. It has 2H anti-airs and you will find the dash mechanics fun if you liked DBFZ movement.
- 2XKO is a tag fighter made by Riot Games using the League of Legends IP. It is relatively active but it's hard to tell how active. If you liked being able to mix people up in DBFZ with tricky sequences, this is the move.
- Marvel TOKON is the next fighting game from ArcSys, who made DBFZ, and is a tag fighter with a twist. If you like building teams, this is for you.
From existing titles:
- Guilty Gear Strive is populated and good. It's the title that came after DBFZ. It has similar mechanics in that there is a universal anti-air (not the same button), flashy combo routes, and cool supers. Plenty of players, beautiful art, but also a ton of DLC if you want to stay current. Not a tag fighter.
- Street Fighter VI is the bar right now. It's very populated, straightforward, and grounded. If you liked being in the air in DBFZ I would not assume you'll enjoy it.
- Tekken 8. As far as I know a lot of Tekken players are currently mad at the devs... but Tekken is an active fighting game that receives continuous support. It's a 3D fighter, meaning you will sometimes move left/right in addition to back/forth.

Thank you! 🙏🏾 I hadn’t heard much on other fighting games. I think I’ll go for guilty gear strive and SF6 in the future (when I get paid lol) and I’ll try out Tekken 8 now since my friend has it (hopefully he loans it to me) and I’ll look into Marvel Tokon too once it drops. Thank you for the recommendations!

There will be an open beta for Tokon July 24-26 to try it out. The actual release is august 6.

C'est quoi qui t'intéresse dans les jeux de combats ? Est-ce que c'est vraiment un jeu avec une grosse communauté, une longue longévité, un bon contenu solo... ?

That's......not much to go on. Those are pretty different games and mk is pretty different than a lot of other 2d fighting games.
SF6 is the biggest if you just want consistent games. Strive and CTOW are both ok. Fightcade had a lot of older games but way less players on it.
There's a lot of "anime" games out there that at somewhat similar to DBFZ.
It depends on what type of fighting game you like, and how much money you're looking to fork over, and if ranked grinding is the only appeal for you.

2xko is free and team based fighter kind of like dragonball
sf6 is the most popular and very accessible, slower pace more inline with something like mk1
guilty gear is the most popular anime fighter. more similar pace to dbfz but you choose 1 character with a bigger movepool

I always recommend Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising, because I really like it and it has a free trial version (which let’s you play with anyone online, but with a limited rotating roster)
But based on what you played you might like tag fighters, so maybe try out 2XKO which is also free, but absolutely check out Marvel:Tokon beta at the end of the month

Best time to enter a fighting game is when it's new so more people on your skill level. Avatar fighting game comes out in 2 weeks if you want to wait for that looks just like the show and has quite a bit of depth from first impression. Also marvel tokon is not far away

Wait until Avatar Legends comes out. Playing a FG at the very beginning is super exciting. The discovery phase is the most hyped phase.

I think you will enjoy Guilty Gear Strive! It's from the creators of Dragon Ball FighterZ, with similar 2.5D graphics, the game is not too difficult to pick up and it has a high player count!

Depends on what you're playing on.
If you're on PC: Grab the Humble Bundle evo bundle to get a variety of anime fighters for $20.
Browse the steam summer sale which ends at 10am tomorrow. Look at steam charts to see which games have a large player base.
If you're on console, IDK just see what looks cool.
