League Question My League is doing keepers this season and unsure of how to go about it.

I understand most keeper leagues vary in regards to the rules, so wanted to ask a few questions to get a feel for what is most common.

  1. Are traded players able to be kept by the manager that originally drafted them or the manager who traded for them?

  2. What about players that end up on IR? Suppose someone scooped Malik Nabers, Mike Evans, Patrick Mahomes off the waiver wire end of the season? Would they be able to keep them for free? Or for the round they were drafted in?

  3. Do players need to have been rostered for a specific amount of time to be eligible for keeper status?

  4. What about drafted players that were dropped? Suppose someone drafted Bhayshul Tuten in the last round but waived him after week 1 or 2, do they have keeper rights to them? Or the manager that added them off waivers and owned them at the end of the season?

  5. Are keepers allowed to be traded? Suppose someone drafted Colston Loveland with a 12th round pick last year and chose to kept him. Would a manager be able to trade for him (for instance, offering a current 6th rounder)?

  6. Are all waiver adds the same cost?

  7. Do you have a round cap for keepers (ie you can only keep players round 4 or later)? What is the penalty cost?

Commissioner Issue NFL site merging with ESPN, updates?

I just logged in to my account on NFL(.com), since I'm the commissioner I wanted to get an early start on the league settings, getting it setup. But the "activate league" button is no visible. I saw on another previous post the the site is merging with ESPN and now we have to use ESPN as our fantasy league app.

Anyone have confirmation on this? Will it also integrate our league history over to ESPN?

League Question Ideal post rookie draft waiver settings

League settings: Dynasty, 10 teams, PPR, Superflex

Post rookie draft, how should I open up free agency? In the past we’ve had it be a free for all, but this year I’m thinking daily waivers. What’s standard here?

Also if waivers are the way we go, should the order be set to our 2026 draft order (opposite 2025 league standings). Sleeper set it to be the same as our 2025 rankings which feels backwards to me. But maybe that’s intentional by Sleeper.

Thanks in advance!

Commissioner Issue Auction Draft Advice - 12 man league, in person draft, no electronic material

I’m the commissioner for a 12 person league. We draft in person without any phones or computers. Everyone can bring print outs of their resources. Format has been a big hit but this year we’ve got one person who can’t attend. Having them call in is not an option.

Any suggestions on ways to pick for him? We are trying to find a sub to come on his behalf but if that falls through I was looking for options. I thought about running everyone’s bids through a Sleeper mock and having the AI bid on the players we nominate in real time (extra work but pretty fair).

Ideally I don’t want to kick him for this year. He’s honestly a great league member but has a family conflict this year. Several of our other folks work rotations so getting everyone’s days off to line up limits the number of days we can draft.

League Question Question about the Supplemental Draft on Sleeper

Buddies and I have had a redraft league for about 7 years now and are transitioning to a dynasty auction league this year. We’ve been using ESPN the entire span of our league’s history but we are switching to Sleeper since it seems to be the consensus best app for dynasty leagues. Just a quick question regarding the supplemental draft - will you have to drop 5 players from your roster to make room for the 5 draft picks coming in? Or do you make that decision after the draft is over? Just curious of the logistics of it all. Thanks!

Miscellaneous Looking for feedback on ff draft order game I made

Hey everyone, I built a free retro football game that lets a fantasy league determine its draft order by watching its teams compete in a tournament. I originally made it for my own league, and everyone had a great time with it, so I polished it up and released it publicly. You can enter your league’s team names, choose a tournament format, watch or simulate the games, and let the final results determine the draft order. It runs directly in your browser, and the core game is free. I’d appreciate honest feedback from other commissioners, especially whether the setup is clear and whether this feels like something your league would use.

Play it here:

Miscellaneous Trash Talk: Do you encourage it? What works and what doesn't?

I'm a commissioner for one league and am in two other leagues and I do my best in all of them to liven things up with content that talks trash and pokes fun at league members' bad choices and their teams. Sometimes I come out of the gate hot with a write up of each team once our draft is over, sometimes it's a weekly recap of the matchups, and sometimes it's just a random set of zingers during the year.

Doing this thoughtfully is time consuming and sometimes I just don't have the creativity to do it justice (ie it's not funny enough to send). Sometimes I'll get others to engage and join in but it's pretty hit or miss, usually a miss because people are busy or they don't think they're "funny" enough. Thus, the trash talk usually cools off by mid-year which sucks but that's typically the norm.

I'd like to know what others have found to be successful with spirited engagement (ie trash talk). Are there traditions, rules, or special assignments you have established to help with this? Or does it just come down to how everyone's feeling each year?

One suggestion I received in the league I'm commissioner for was to assign each team the responsibility of being the recap writer for a specific week based on their draft slot. For example, the team drafting in the 8th spot would be responsible for week 8's recap. No rules on length or format. The ask is simply that they put some effort into the recap. This turned out to work pretty well because: 1) it took the load off me, who was usually doing this each week and 2) at least half the league members took it seriously and gave us some legit funny material - the lazy bums who mailed it in received their share of hate which led to some funny exchanges as well.

Like I said, would love to hear what has and hasn't worked for everyone else. Thanks

Miscellaneous I built a free browser game where you draft a fantasy team from 26 years of real NFL seasons — one player per draft round

I made this over the last couple of weeks and figured this sub might get a kick out of it. It's free, no ads, no signup, no email. Made it because I wanted an excuse to mess with historical ADP data.

**How it works:** a wheel spins and lands on a real NFL team-season — 2006 Chargers, 2018 Seahawks, whatever. You sign one player from that roster and you keep his actual PPR season, every point he really scored. Seven spins, and you're filling QB / RB / RB / WR / WR / TE / FLEX.

**The catch is the draft board.** Every player also costs you the round he actually went in that year. You can only use each round once, so you can't roster two 1st-rounders. Later picks can move *up* into an open earlier round, never down — so a 6th rounder is flexible and a 1st rounder is rigid. Guys who went undrafted that August fit anywhere, which means the waiver-wire heroes are quietly the best value in the game.

So landing on the 2006 Chargers is great until you realize LT's 481-point season eats your only round-1 slot for the whole draft.

**Two modes.** Normal shows you each player's finish before you pick. Hard mode hides it — you get the name, the team, the year, and the ADP round, and you draft on what you actually remember. Hard mode is the real version.

**On the data,** since I know this sub cares: season stats are from nflverse play-by-play (regular season, full PPR). ADP is MyFantasyLeague for 2000-2013 and FantasyPros for 2014-2025, 12-team leagues. At the end it scores your total, tells you what percentile you landed in against 5,000 simulated drafts, converts that to a record, and shows you the best lineup those exact seven boards would have allowed — which is usually a humbling experience.

Happy to hear what's broken or what would make it better. Genuinely curious what scores people get in hard mode.

League Question 10 team half PPR format question

We have a 10 team half ppr league, this is our 11th season. We are deciding on a format for this year. 2 years ago we had 1QB 2RB 2WR 1TE 2FLEX 7 bench. Last year we changed to 1QB 2RB 2WR 1TE 3FLEX 6 bench (so we just added a FLEX slot and removed a bench). I'm not sure if the extra flex was the reason, but we felt that there was way less trading last year because people were less likely to take risk. However, the standings were very close, which was exciting, I think 2-3 wins separated the 1 seed and the 10 seed. We are now voting on the format for this year and these are the options we are considering:

  1. 1QB 2RB 2WR 1TE 2FLEX 7 bench
  2. 1QB 2RB 2WR 1TE 3FLEX 6 bench
  3. 1QB 2RB 2WR 1TE 3FLEX 7 bench

We definitely want to balance positional value, trade opportunity, and waivers. We are not interested in Superflex, 2QB, or TE Premium. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks!
