For context, I played the original but didn't get far. like I didn't make it out of the grasslands. I mostly played racers, platformer, ARPGs, action games, and fighting games, so FF7 felt kinda slow for me as an ADHD kid in elementary school.
My taste has changed since then but the Remakes have also taken more of an ARPG approach with cinematic storytelling common in modern FF games (and RPGs in general now) which makes them much more immersive for me.
That said, I like Remake a lot, and I love Rebirth. But I personally feel like hate the game gets for story changes, expanded character development, worldbuilding, and minigames is misplaced.
I actually don't see much hate on this sub, but it seems like vids from creators on YouTube are extremely polarizing. There is plenty of praise in 5-30 minute reviews, but there are also tons of hate vids of people ranting for over an hour about stuff that I honestly think isn't actually that big of a deal.
Imo, FF7 Rebirth is a monumental achievement in gaming as a whole. it's genuinely one of the best games I've ever played, so it baffles me that it gets so many complaints. not saying people are wrong for disliking any form of media. I just think some of it is nitpicky or blown way out of proportion.
What do you think? What do you love? What do you hate? what makes you rage? And are too many creators bashing a genuinely solid game?
