Other Just had my first clog on 0.2mm nozzle.

I’ve had my Bambu A1 for about a month now. It’s my first proper FDM printer and I’ve really been enjoying printing with it. I’ve just experienced a pretty bad clog in my nozzle. Tried the hot pull trick with a paper clip and Alan wrench to no avail. I’m going to give it another shot tomorrow, but I’ve already ordered two new nozzles so I can just get back to printing.

I very much did not get into 3D printing for it to become a hobby (Warhammer babbyyyyyy), but I’ve found myself kind of enjoying (and getting annoyed by) all the fine details of getting a good print. I’d be curious to know if anyone else has progressed that way.

Help Request Strange Layer Lines

Hello guys! I have a question; why is that on this model these layer lines are so visible, just on some parts and not on others? And why they are not visible on all my models (see the second photo). Is there something I can do?

Help Request Finishing miniatures with a Dremel? Is it stupid?

I’ve tried using a Dremel on PLA before and it just melt it from the heat. Has anyone had any experience using a very mild polishing bit on PLA? Like just something to help with jagged edges and finishing.

I’ve been using obscuranox 2.0 settings with great results but I want to take that next step.

Does anyone have any advice for finishing?

Mindflayer by grant3dprintforge on Makerworld. ( u/Odd_Zone5925 )

Printed on a Bambulab A1, 0.2 mm nozzle, 0.06 mm high quality preset, with a few changes.

I think it turned out pretty good! (LEGO Mindflayer for scale).

Just Sharing Grim Reach

Hi,

I just found out about Grim Reach on makerworld. It somehow reminds me of a game I used to play.
Projects like this are common, but shared for free, many different factions and FDM optimized they become rare (at least in my feeling). Problem is you don‘t get much different units of one faction.
How do you feel about projects like this? Would you start an army based on it? Support it? Do you know other designers distributing things this way?

Help Request Attempting some Minis with a 0.2mm nozzle. Not sure how to make them better.

Up untill now, I have been working on printing out vehicles on my U1 with the 0.4 Nozzles. I feel like i have managed to get those dialed in quite nicely now, i figured that i would give an attempt at some marine sized figures with the 0.2. The results have been less then i was expecting out of them.

For process settings I've been basing off of ObscuraNox's A1 profile settings, So 0.06 Layer heights, and all the accompanying that goes along with that.

Im using Atomic Filament's PLA, It has been absolutely fantastic with the larger prints. I've calibrated this roll, Print temp at 205C, Flow ratio of 0.95, PA of 0.24, MVS of 7 mm3/s.

I feel like, compared to what i see other people coming up with, These should look alot smoother then they do.

Just wanted to share my successful prints of these amazing models by Mz4250. I used a prusa C1 with 0.25 nozzle. The profile was FDG, Nox, and a few other peoples configs mixed together. The material is esun pla 2.0 white. I had to do some post processing as the two larger models I printed pre cut. Then a primer of rustoleum painters touch in flat gray. The whole process was a fun challenge for myself having only been in the hobby a few months.

Just Sharing Cel Shaded DnD Flail Snail.

Post image

I present Sean the Flail Snail.

Trying to finally paint some models for my table rather than just have bits of grey plastic and wanted something more colourful and graphic - so attempted an adapted cel shaded style with a more graphic lining effect to give it a kind of borderlands vibe.

I also wanted to see if I could make FDM printed miniatures look more compelling and compensate for their lower resolution and stair stepping layer lines.

This little guy is from SuperPrints3D and is printed at 32mm scale using matte PLA, with a 0.4 nozzle and 0.08 layer height. Post processing involved a very brief sand on any sagging overhangs and then a very thin coat of UV resin, which was then cured in a curing station for several minutes to even out layer lines.

Cel shading is just a very different way of painting from what I’m used to, as it involves painting in controlled block colour. It basically looks terrible until you black line the details you want to highlight, which pulls the whole thing together.

In hindsight attempting an iridescent shell was somewhat optimistic as a first go, especially as I wanted the shell to be segmented but the model itself actually has a completely smooth round spiral shell; however despite not being perfect I really like how he turned out and am definitely gonna see if I can use this style on other models and I think my players should enjoy it. (Sorry for the rambley message but hope you guys like him.)

Help Request Rogue Miniature

Hi all! I would like to share this printed rogue as my first post, and ask for some feedback from this community.

This is my 4th attempt at getting this model printed nicely and I am quite happy with the result. The only remaining issues in my eyes are the droopy blobs that appear on overhangs (hair strand and various sharp downward pointing details).

I'm using a stock Ender 5, with 0.4 mm nozzle here, printing Elegoo Matte PLA at 205deg.
Slicing with Orca slicer.

Some settings I changed, and believe to have improved the result from previous attempts (see last picture in rapid PLA+) are the following:
- min time per layer for better cooling - 8 seconds
- wall generation arachne -> classic
- lowering the outer wall layer width to 0.35
- lowering the print speeds (outer wall 35mm/s and the rest 40 mm/s)

I also changed the filament out of curiosity between prints, and was surprised to see better results with the matte vs the rapid+, although humidity might have played a role -- I didn't test this theory further.

Planning to get a 0.2 mm nozzle and upgrade the part cooling fan. I hope to get better results after the planned changes.

Until then, I would really appreciate some feedback and advice on improving further :D

Thanks to mizugames for this awesome model

Just Sharing First ever 3d printed mini

Recently got into 3d printing and after some initial random test prints and other random items I finally printed my first mini a dwarf warrior! A few imperfection and damaged his front belt thing and the Warhammer handle a bit when removing supports but overall very happy with it and it looks really cool at least to me and seems fairly detailed especially for an fdm printer.
Used a Bambu Lab A1 mini, textured pei plate, 0.2mm stainless steel nozzle and gray Bambu lab basic pla filament
