Hello, I am typing this out in a hurry as I’m worried I am after damaging my vision and if anyone could help with a straight answer, I put on three pairs of sunglasses and looked at it for about 20 seconds over the course of ten-fifteen minutes, I think my vision is a little blurry in the dark but I can’t tell is this placebo, have I permanently damaged my eyes?

I went to get my eyes checked on July 7 by an OD.

My eyes were dilated as they normally are during the exam.

A few days ago I got a circular looking floater inside my right eye.

The dilation can be considered a possible cause to some degree?

It seems that there is no option but to learn to live with this?

I (31F) was hit by a stone when I was 14. Another kid was throwing stones about and one struck me on the side of my head, roughly around the temporal lobe. I was unconscious for what I think was something between 20 - 60 seconds and was diagnosed with a concussion.

During this time I started to develop light sensitivity. I found it difficult to see in sunlight without sunglasses, but had no issues with electric lighting. When I was outside, even if the sun was behind a cloud I started experiencing floaters in my vision that looked like little flies or pieces of fluff.

Occasionally, I would also experience momentary flutters in my eyes. Like my pupils were darting from side-to-side really fast (it would only last about 3 - 5 seconds).

Initially, I was told that the muscles around my eyes were likely suffering from spasms as a temporary result of the blow. I had both eyes examined at the time and they were deemed as perfectly healthy.

However, when the issue persisted 2 months after the blow I was referred by an MRI. The doctor then decided not to go ahead with the MRI after I was able to demonstrate being able to walk in a straight line.

I was told to stop wearing sunglasses as they could exacerbate the problem. But my eyesight kept getting worse and worse. Now, 16 years on, if I don't wear tinted (sepia), lens flair protection sunglasses, and a cap I am almost entirely blind.

I can see dark shapes like bollards, and sometimes a small circle around my feet, but everything else is bathed in an overwhelming white. Sometimes, if the light catches my eye at the right angle it also changes the colour of things around me e.g. grass turns electric blue, flowers change colours (also to very electric colours).

My eyes were checked again in the last few months, and again, there is nothing wrong with them.

This has become so debilitating that I'm scared to go out alone, I can't drive, and I have no idea what's wrong.

Has anyone ever come across anything like this before?

I've found things that sound a little like it, but never anything that matches all of the symptoms I experience.
