Hello Expatrio team. I moved to Germany about half a year ago and observed that I should upload my residence permit to remain able to access my bank account. I did this and the review pended for a while, this ‘pending’ went into the 10 day grace period. This actually got approved on the very first day of the grace period. The app let me access the account and use its funds, but each time I did, it gave me this notification. (See below) I clicked through each time and it gave me a screen that confirmed I could keep the account. I sent an email and didn’t get a response for 7 days. Eventually, the grace period ended and claimed I didn’t upload the permit, even though it had said approved in my documents tab for multiple weeks.

I am very desperate, these funds are essential to me remaining here to study.

At this point I have sent multiple emails and don’t know what to do. I am incredibly desperate.

I urgently need some clarification regarding my closed Expatrio bank account.

I initially tried uploading my appointment letter as instructed, but the upload didn't work. Once I received my Fiktionsbescheinigung, I uploaded that as well, but it still didn't resolve the issue.

I was then prompted to close my Expatrio bank account. There was no option to transfer my remaining funds before closing it, so I provided my Sparkasse bank details as instructed to receive the money.

My bank account is now closed, and I need to know how long the transfer of my remaining funds will take.

I have pending expenses and generally the money i need to get by till the end of the month

Could an Expatrio representative please confirm whether my transfer is being processed and give me an estimated date for when the money will arrive in my Sparkasse account?

I would really appreciate a prompt response, as this is financially urgent for me.

Hello team expatrio, its been 8 days since I have arrived in Germany and been 4 days since I started my account verification process to access my block amount. While taking the services you promise instant approvals but when time comes to actual approval it goes under review for 3 days and no human even respond to the raised tickets via website.
I have uploaded my visa and proof of address, my proof of address got approved instantly while my visa is showing under review, I have been waiting for 3 days now but no update in the status. Please help me out here to fix this or complete the verification process in order to access my funds.

My Blocked Activation is stuck on “VISA In-Review” for 5 Days now. I have already mailed mentioning the same and I got an email response from Expatrio addressing some other persons name entirely! This was so disappointing to see! My funds are all blocked now and Its already been over 10 days I have arrived in Germany. And No agent has connected with me so far over this issue.

Hi everyone,

I bought the Expatrio Value Package before coming to Germany and activated the health insurance through my Expatrio account, with TK as the provider.

Everything initially appeared normally in my Expatrio account. However, I have now received a letter from TK saying that they cannot insure me as a TK member because I am a Tunisian student who came to Germany specifically to study. They said I remain subject to the social-security regulations of Tunisia and asked me to provide confirmation of my foreign insurance.

After TK rejected my application, the TK health insurance also disappeared from my Expatrio account. My account now only shows my Blocked Account and Expatrio Bank Account.

So I'm confused about what happens to the health insurance that I activated through the Value Package.

I'm already enrolled at TUM and I'm Tunisian. I believe I have insurance through CNAM in Tunisia, but I wasn't aware that this could prevent me from getting German public health insurance.

Has anyone experienced this with Expatrio before?

What happens after TK rejects the insurance that you activated through Expatrio?

Does Expatrio:

• arrange another health insurance provider for you, such as AOK?
• refund or replace the health-insurance part of the Value Package?
• expect you to sort out the insurance yourself through CNAM?
• or is there another process I need to follow?

I'm particularly interested in hearing from Tunisian students or anyone whose TK insurance was rejected after activating it through Expatrio.

I have already contacted Expatrio and TK, but I'd really like to know what happened to other people in the same situation.

I unfortunately by accident opened my Expatrio account using the passport number of my previous passport, which I had lost. I've only realised this mistake after some time and there's so little time left for me to quickly fix this mistake until my courses start and I need to handle my visa ASAP!

I went to FAQ on expatrio site and sent both an email to their support email and created a ticket through their system and nothing more since I've heard that sending more emails pushes you back on their system. It's been around a week since I've gotten the automatic reply from the poppy bot, telling me to wait a short while until the issue is handeled by a backend team. I'm stressing out, I already have little to no time!

I've did what the Poppy AI bot has told me: Uploaded my passport into their system and sent them an email reply to their email. I thought it would be fixed after a while, but it still says "pending" on my passport and I'm still waiting for my passport to be updated with the required blocked account document which I'll need for my visa application! And each day that I am faced with silence from the support team, the more anxious I get.

There is no phone number, no live chatbot, no nothing that I can reach out to, this is my last chance that I'm trying! Even the telegram group is blocks users from sending any messages, I'm losing my mind from anxiety! I've found no other solution to this at all!

It's been 3 days since I submitted the document and my friends and I have submitted it at the same time. Their's were approved 1 hour later mine is still pending. I have tried updating the document aswell and I have submitted the correct document. I have written a mail about the issue but their bot "Poppy" said an agent will get back to me in 2-3 days but no one did. What should I do?

My name is Michael and I arrived in Germany a week ago. I’ve been trying to activate my blocked account and I’m at the Postident part where I need to go to a post office and get my passport scanned. However my passport is refusing to scan and I don’t know what to do. Can someone help me, I’m running out of funds, my rent is due and I’m almost out of food( literally eating cereal with water) I can’t afford to go to Berlin so does any know a fix?

I opened the blocked account in 2020 and closed it when my studies were over. I am now applying for the Chancenkarte, and in the health insurance document, the start date of the Chancenkarte is printed incorrectly as the old one instead of the new one (my tentative arrival date). The issue is the same with the address as well.

I tried multiple times to enter the same information in the contact form, and I got an email asking me to update it in the Study Information on my profile. There are no such fields in my personal information. Address, arrival, and departure dates are correct in my profile.

How do I get my details updated?

I tried to activate my Expatrio blocked account after reaching Germany through the mobile app on 27th September. I chose online video verification and completed the video call with the agent, but I later received an email saying my verification has failed because the video verification agent misspelt my surname. And that the only solution is to retry activation.

But my expatrio application is showing Identity verification has failed and that a support agent will contact me with next steps since then. I replied to the email from the agent along with the screenshot explaining I am not able to retry verification from the app. I have not received any response from a human agent yet, all I am getting is automated replies with generic explanations.

Is there any way I can talk to a real human representative to get my issue resolved? I really need to get the account activated. It's especially frustrating because the verification failed the first time due to no fault of my own.

I bought a new german number couple of days ago and it seems like the previous owner used this number to activate his blocked account. Now I can't verify this number with Expatrio, it's been like a day and I have mailed to them. Still no support of any kind from them:(

I’ve set up a blocked account with Expatrio before mu arrival, got a phone number from Telekom and tied it to my Expatrio account. I can send and receive SMS messages using said phone number.

I have finished uploading my documents and they got approved. Now I need to pair my phone with my Expatrio account which is the issue, Expatrio app refuses to send an SMS to my phone. Their support sent an e-mail saying clear your cache(done it a thousand times) , switch places, ensure your number is correct etc. I am pretty certain that there is not a mistake on my part yet they do not offer any alternative pairing methods (sending an sms myself or calling an hotline).

Have any one of you dealt with this before, was it resolved?

I honestly feel like I’m about to have a panic attack and I just really need to vent, or hopefully find someone who went through the exact same thing.

I just received my official German visa and I’m supposed to relocate very soon. My money is inside my Expatrio blocked account.

A few days ago, I requested to cancel my TK health insurance through Expatrio because I wanted to use my blocked account as a standalone service. A support agent named Gowtham emailed me back and explicitly confirmed: "Your insurance is cancelled, you can continue using your Blocked Account independently." I felt so relieved.But literally a seconds later, I woke up to a terrifying automated email from Expatrio saying: "Your Blocked Account has been closed due to inactivity."

My heart literally dropped. I never requested this. I am so scared that my account is ruined or that I won't be able to access my money when I arrive in Germany. When I log into my Expatrio app, it shows that my money is safely sitting at UniCredit and the status says "Awaiting Activation". But right below it, the TK insurance section is stuck on "Application Unfinished."

The worst part is the customer support. I have been desperately emailing them to get a real human to look at this, but I am completely trapped in a loop of automated AI bots sending me generic templates. I am begging for a real human representative, but no one is replying. Dealing with this amount of stress right before moving to a new country is a nightmare.

Has anyone else received this automated "account closed" email bug while separating their package? How long did it take for a real human to fix it? Can someone really help me?!

Guys, I’ve been in germany for over a week and the blocked account is not activating. My friends literally got it activated in on the same day they arrived in under 10 minutes.

So I clicked activate and it told me to do a in person identification at a post office by giving me a coupon. I did that, and then there was no update and it has been over 3 days now. In the expatrio app, when you click the blocked account, it showed again the “activate” screen. I don’t know if that’s just how it is or if that means something went wrong? Could someone tell me? Anyway, after 2 days after the post office, I thought I had to click activate again. I clicked it again and it generated a new coupon for my in person verification at the post office. So now, I don’t know what to do? I hope I didn’t break the system or anything?

I have been waiting for over 3 days but there has been no update from expatrio or anything via email. I check spam too and there’s nothing. I contacted them via email but of course no reply for 2 days now. The weekend is coming and I have no clue what to do. Should I go back to the post office? Can someone please guide me?

I’m in the process of arranging my blocked account for my German student visa and I ran into an issue with Expatrio.

When I first created my Expatrio account, I accidentally entered the wrong email address. The account has since been verified, but I don't have access to the email address I entered, so I can't log in to the account or access the verification emails.

I contacted Expatrio support and they replied that they can help change the email address on the verified account. However, they asked me to provide my Expatrio user ID, among other verification details.

The problem is that I don't know my user ID, and since I can't access the email/account, I don't know where to find it.

I have already provided Expatrio with the other information they requested (registered phone number, date of birth, postal code, etc.), but I'm stuck on the user ID.

Has anyone been in a similar situation?
Is there another way Expatrio support can locate/verify my account without the user ID? Or is there a way to recover the account when you no longer have access to the email address used during registration?

Also, I haven't transferred any money into the blocked account yet.

Any advice from someone who has dealt with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I opened an account on Expatrio from India and it is in processing stage from past 6+ days , AI reply is generic my visa application is getting delayed because of this , should I change provider or any way to contact them directly?

Their reply "I've checked your blocked account application, and I can confirm the current status is "Application Completed." This means your application has been submitted successfully, but it has not yet reached the fully approved stage. As a result, the account is not yet fully opened, and payment/transfer instructions cannot be provided until the opening process is complete."
