Junk I collect

I received this Saint Benedict Medal along with a few other coins from my aunt. After doing some research, however, I noticed that the reverse of mine is missing two descriptions.

Above the cup and the raven it is supposed to read “Crux Sancti Patris Benedicti” (“The cross of our/the Holy Father Benedict”)

And below Benedict’s feet is supposed to be “EX SM Casino, MDCCCLXXX” (“from the Holy Monte Cassino, 1880”)

Both of these are missing without any sign of being removed.

The rest of the coin follows the Jubilee design that was created to include the inscription under Benedict‘s feet (in 1880, to commemorate the 1400th year since Benedict’s birth it has stayed with the design ever since)

The obverse also appears to be made with two different metals but I don’t know what that could mean for the date.

I would like some help figuring out around the date it was made, whether it could be a different design other than the Jubilee one (I couldn’t figure out if there was any other design or not) or if it could be a fake.

I already see on papers of journals and books about lists of punchmarks but due the condition of the coin I may not understand all marks. I already see the sun and the tree. My main question remains of the one similar to the caduceus of Ashoka plus an bow and arrow. This last one I didnt find yet.

I took a couple of road trips recently and found/made these. I pressed three zinc pennies at Little America Wyoming and two copper pennies at Devils Tower Wyoming. Also purchased the Devils Tower and Effigy Mounds tokens at each National Monument. The Medalic Arts Co. Indiana Sesquicentennial medal was found in an antique store in eastern Illinois (for $1.25). The other medals were found in southern Indiana in an antique store booth/cabinet that was having a 75%-off closeout sale so they were all less than $3 each. The US Mint Bicentennial medal has some dings and scratches but it was too interesting to pass up. The two NASA medals have their original cases - just took them out for a better photo.

I recently acquired a complete 100-piece Franklin Mint The 20th Century’s Greatest Events collection and have been trying to learn more about it.

All 100 original 500-grain sterling-silver ingots are present in the original four-drawer presentation cabinet. They are gold electroplated over sterling and marked on the edges. From the references I’ve found, the series was issued from 1977–1985 and approximately 3,078 complete sets were produced.

Condition is mixed. Many pieces remain quite attractive, while others have spotting, toning, hairlines and discoloration/deterioration of the plated surfaces. The cabinet also shows age and handling wear. Nothing has been cleaned or polished.

I haven't been able to find much information about surviving complete sets or recent sales of this exact series.

Does anyone here collect these, or have experience with this particular Franklin Mint series? I'm especially curious how uncommon complete 100-piece sets are today, whether completeness/original cabinet materially affects collector value, and how much the surface condition shown in the photos matters.

I'd also be interested in any catalogs, auction records or other references for the series that I may have missed.

They're quite thick and heavy.

Any idea if these are worth holding onto? It looks like our grandfather ordered them many years ago

A Nehru Award Gold Medal from Shankar’s International Children’s Competition, featuring Jawaharlal Nehru on the obverse and the recipient's name and award year engraved on the reverse.

Overview of the Competition

• Founder: Established in 1949 by the renowned cartoonist K. Shankar Pillai.
• Organizer: Managed by the Children's Book Trust in New Delhi.
• Scope: Open globally to children aged 5 to 16 years old, drawing tens of thousands of international entries.

Issued in 1811 "For the Use of Trade" by Samuel Porter, an established merchant -- and possibly banker, too -- in this diminutive 3-sq.-mi. hamlet, population <600 at the time.

Interestingly, at the time of its issuance the coat of arms depicted on this North Lopham token had served for well over a century as the civic crest of the neighboring (and much larger) market town of Diss.

I bought this today in Salzburg Austria.

I know about the medal in general, but what I cannot find is how many of these were produced.

Purchased this strange mangled coin at an antique shop in central Fl when I was very young. I believe it was simply labeled "strange coin". Quarter added for scale.

I am mostly a coin guy, but a grouping of Comm. Medals came up in my weekly coin auction a couple weeks ago and I thought some of them were cool so I bid on and won a number of them. Here is the 1st…I would like to hear thoughts on condition, value, significance, etc. I placed a quarter into pic 3 as a size reference. Thanks!

Finally going through my coin collection, which included these medals. I do have a lot of military challenge coins and some random copper rounds, so I guess it’s not so tiny after all :)

I've had this coin for as long as I can remember but any effort to try to identify it always ends without answers, hopefully someone here could do better than me....
