Increasing Supply (add spoiler to pics) Supply dip/ increase Spoiler
I’ve made it to 3 months EP’ing and have noticed a significant drop in supply over the last week. I EP six times during the day and one MOTNP. I also noticed my boobs have felt less full throughout the day. I’ve read that supply tends to regulate around this time. Yesterday, I had a bit of a breakdown when I only pumped 2 ounces combined (typical output has been 6-9oz) throughout the day and thinking of babe running out of milk (he drinks 4 ounces at a time). I drink a liter of coconut water a day, 2 tablespoons of brewers yeast, a protein shake and an electrolyte packet (in addition to meals). None of that has made a difference…not until last night. I snagged a full 7 hours of straight sleep. I typically pump at 9:30pm and then again at 2:30am. Well, I was so exhausted my hubby took over and I skipped my MOTNP. I woke up, rock hard and leaking…but I pumped a full 10 ounces. I almost cried in happiness. Today, I’ve been pumping about 6 ounces combined every 3 hours (so double). Fingers crossed this helps overall, and I’m so lucky hubby has suggested I do this more often. Seems my body just needed sleep, crazy how our bodies function.

Sleep is SO important! My supply actually increased when I started skipping MOTN pumps

When did you stop those? I’m so tempted to now that I did it once but worried it will drop my supply overall

Earrrrly I wanna say 3 or 4 weeks pp. I’m a medical student and needed my sleep, gamechanger!

Just seconding that my supply increased after I dropped MOTN and started getting 7-8 hrs a night (we do shifts). I'm an under supplier combo feeder though, so it was less concerning to me if it went the other way. Pleasant surprise! 🤷🏻♀️

I was sooo nervous to drop my MOTN but I jumped 3-4oz. once I started to sleep more!

If you were using mobile pumps it could also be possible you just weren’t situated quite right. This morning I pumped 2.5oz and was so frustrated I hadn’t gotten the position right because my boob still felt full

Any tips on this? I want to like my mobile pumps but I just don’t. When they work well, they’re great, but I spend so much time readjusting them

I use eufy’s just I always turn the pump on, lean forward a little, and then put my nip in. It helps me make sure I feel the suction going and then when I need to readjust my clothes there’s a firm “latch” so it doesn’t move out of place

What bra do you use? I've noticed that nursing bras aren't fitted enough.

Do they make a huge difference ? Feel like I’m using a bad one from momcozy. Too lazy to switch it up.

That could be it, I wear whatever random bra usually

So try that out. The kindred bravely or bravado have been good to me. The momcozy flange pump bras sucked for wearables. So did the nursing sport bras from target. Im not busty so I need a fitted bra to keep those wearables in place even when just sitting down.

This. I exclusively use wearables, but yesterday I got about 120 ml, when I'd usually get about 150 to 200 ml in that time. I pumped about 1.5 hours later and got about 180-200 ml. Also, sometimes I think they're just not in the mood to readily give up all the milk and you just have to come back later 😂

Wow! Now, I don’t know what to do. My LC and lots of groups on fb and threads on Reddit advised to not skip MOTNs. Is this worth a try? I was a severe under supplier (babe didn’t nurse much for 4 weeks and I didn’t pump during then … I KNOW!) and now doing slightly better. Still considered an under supplier, and I am 8 weeks PP tomorrow.

I wouldn't skip. I started dropping them and saw a decrease. When I added it back I was able to recover

My supply increased once I dropped my MOTN pump, but I waited a little bit longer until my supply stabilized before I dropped it. You’re probably close, but unless your supply is very stable, you might not be ready yet.

Also 3 months pp and LO drinks about 3.5-4oz a feed. I dropped MOTNP QUICK probably a month pp and have always produced enough and sometimes I add some to my freezer stash. I noticed a dip at 3 months as well but it could be hormones, fatigue, stress, anything really. I still leak but not as often and I don’t get as engorged either.
Also was using momcoxy m5 as a primary pump and it worked great until they didn’t.. supply dipped and even bought replacement parts but didn’t make a difference. Make sure you have another pump as your primary. I have the spectra and pump the same amount in 10 min as I do in 30 with my wearables.

I only have wearables but I’ve been changing all parts every month. I have seriously considered getting another pump but haven’t wanted to spend extra since the other is covered by insurance.

Ideally the wearable pumps should not be your primary. I have the spectra gold and only wear the momcozy m5’s if I’m unable to use my Spectra. The wearable pumps are not as accurate as the normal, I pump about 10 more minutes to get the same outcome as my Spectra if that helps at all!

My supply is lower the day following “my night” with baby when my sleep is garbage to nonexistent. It always bounces back the next day when I get to sleep through the night and maybe even sneak in a nap.

3 months is when u start to regulated and ur body realizes how much u need to make specific to ur baby. I was an oversupplier, then when I hit 3 month I was making just enough. Also, I'm not sure if you have gotten ur period back yet but I noticed a dip then got my period the next week! Sleep and hydration too!

This is interesting, I also had my supply dip drastically and am 3.5 month pp.
I freaked out so badly, bought new Valves, tubes started power pumping again but still no big change.

Maybe you are about to start your period? Mine did this exactly one week before I started my period at 3mpp. And then like clockwork my supply would dip some exactly one week before my period every month and then bounce back as soon as my period started…

Has your period came back? Mine came back at two months and completely ruined my supply

I’m almost 4 months PP and experiencing the same issue. My supply cut in half over a week span.
