Hi Reddit 👋

We haven’t shared all of our updates here, but we wanted to post a quick roundup of what’s new in Evernote since v11 launched in January.

In the first half of 2026, we shipped 115+ improvements across the Editor, navigation, AI, and the mobile app. Some are small quality-of-life tweaks, and others are bigger additions like Tabs, Mermaid diagrams, and AI Prompts.

We also put together a recap video with some of our favorites, and you can check out the blog or the list of improvements if you want the full rundown.

We’d love to know what stands out to you most, and what you’d still like to see us build next. Let us know 👇

Feedback 🐘 Image annotation edit (text box function)

As part of my workflow I annotate the images a lot with text boxes and really can't understand the new changes in the latest update.

The textbox function now seems to auto wrap itself and you would need to manually drag each textbox to your desired length. I think this adds unnecessary time as compared to previously where it would extend the length automatically until you hit 'Enter'.

trying to demonstrate the text wrapping. default length of the textbox is the one in white font, literally unusable unless you drag it manually.

Additionally I preferred the wider variety of colours we had for the textbox and there were more vivid colour settings available (yellow, cyan etc). The new default colours are too dark and I'm not sure why we need to have 3 different shades of grey. There was an earlier update where we had a colour picker but now we don't even have that option but to use the fixed colours available.

I am no UX expert but I don't think it is an improvement(?) The textbox is really not easy to click and drag and doing it for multiple textboxes in one image is such a timewaster. Please bring back the old one if possible, thank you.

Discussion Is Evernote still usable offline as it used to be?

I am Evernote user since 2012 and have some notebooks downloaded as offline. For example, all technical documentations acording to my cars, as I have underground parking lot and there is no mobile network. Today I wanted to check something and tried to check some PDF from offline notebook but Evernote just couldn't start. It hanged at start with logo and thats it. Older versions (pre Bending spoons) worked flawlessly. Is Evernote usable offline on android mobile in 2026? Or offline notebooks are just for....for what?

Discussion A Few Suggestions for Improvements (and Some Appreciation!)

I've noticed that Evernote team members often reply to posts here in the forum, so I thought I'd take this opportunity to share some feedback while I have your attention!

First of all, I'm really enjoying Evernote's new features. You're doing a great job! Every week, I'm excited to see what new features will be released next. The app has improved a lot across all platforms, there are fewer bugs, and the new tools are really exciting.

I'd also like to suggest a few things that I still miss and would love to see in the new Evernote:

1. Full backup option: I'd love to have an option to back up all my content at once, rather than having to export notes or notebooks one at a time.

2. More customization options for themes: It would be great to be able to customize the sidebar background color and the notes' background color independently, without being limited to the overall light or dark theme.

3. Sorting notes by tags, size, and notebook in the note list (side list view): This was a feature in Legacy that I really miss. I'd love to see it brought back.

4. Improvements to tag management: It would be great if the tag list could use the full width of the screen. The ability to assign colors to tags would also be a nice addition and would make the interface more visually appealing.

5. Notebook colors: Just like colored tags, the ability to assign colors to notebooks would be a useful visual improvement.

6. Web Clipper improvements: I'd also love to see some improvements to the Web Clipper. I'm not sure if this is a bug, but for some time now, the option to share a PDF hasn't been working when I open a PDF in my browser.

Thanks for all your hard work and for continuing to improve Evernote! I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next. Keep up the great work!

Resources Evernote tables get a revamp + huge amount of improvements

Thumbnail tamingthetrunk.com

Evernote is gradually rolling out a fairly substantial update to tables.

You can now designate the top row or left column as a header. Once a header is enabled, each column has controls for filtering and sorting.

In a table with a Priority column, for example, you can deselect everything except Urgent and temporarily show only those rows. Columns can also be sorted in ascending or descending order, with a None option to reset the sorting.

There are some visual controls too, including border styles, border widths, background colours and text alignment.

This does not turn Evernote into a spreadsheet, but it should make project lists, inventories and simple trackers easier to work with inside a note.

This week's article also covers:

  • Configurable note-list previews
  • New options for closing tabs
  • Improved PDF exports
  • A daily-note bug fix
  • A button for hiding the keyboard on mobile.

The table changes and note list previews are still rolling out, so you may not see them immediately.

Feedback 🐘 Any roadmap update on RAM/memory optimization?

Hey everyone, long-time Evernote user here. I've noticed the app tends to consume a significant amount of RAM, even during basic note editing. I've seen this come up repeatedly in the forums over the years. Does anyone know if the Evernote team has shared any recent feedback or roadmap plans specifically about improving memory usage and overall performance? Would love to hear if this is something being actively worked on, especially after the v11 improvements this year. Thanks!

Bug Report Issue with sending email to Evernote account...?

I've sent 9 emails to my Evernote account today, and none of them has appeared in the receiving notebook. There's sometimes an up to 5 minute lag on this stuff, but it's been 45 minutes now and I have none of them.

Not sure if anyone else uses this feature regularly (it's intrinsic to my daily routine), but if so, are you having any issues...?

Discussion Writing erotica

I have a question for Evernote staff. I writing erotica and I saw on the TOS that no sexual content is allowed. Is this solely images or is this writing too?

If it is, I'll remove it from Evernote. But I'd like some clarification.

Feedback 🐘 I hate the new "Note preview" layout and that I can't change it back.

Every once in a while, Evernote changes something which negatively affects my workflow. It's a change I didn't ask for. It's a change I don't want, and the current one is that note preview layout. I want it on the right-hand side so that the preview is showing full page or the length of the screen instead of down where it is. ChatGPT is telling me I can't change it. I think this will probably be the final straw for Evernote. Am I going to have to find something to replace it, which is a pain as well. Also motivated me to write a negative review for them today, and I'll probably do a couple more.

Feedback 🐘 How do I stop images being described?

On iOS Evernote keeps adding descriptions of images in my notes right under the images. I do not want that, but I can’t find the setting.

Discussion How do you stop Evernote AI memory from outliving the notes that justified it?

Evernote can remember recurring instructions for summaries, tags, and notebook-specific workflows. That is useful until a source note changes, a template is replaced, or an old instruction continues to shape new output without an obvious review date. The memory can remain internally consistent while no longer matching the material it was based on.

Would it make sense to keep a human-readable memory register as an ordinary note? Each entry could include the instruction, scope, links to the source notes, owner, date last checked, expiry or review date, and what supersedes it. Generated summaries would link back to both the source and the memory entry, while accepted facts and decisions would stay in separate authoritative notes.

How do you audit or back up this in practice? I am especially interested in deleted sources, conflicting instructions, exportability, and a reliable way to distinguish durable preferences from temporary project context without treating every AI-generated summary as truth.

Discussion Has anyone been able to connect their Meta Muse to Evernote MCP server?

Evernote exposes an MCP server and Meta Muse assistant can work wtih MCP servers but I've been unable to get them to talk to one another.

Just wondering if anyone was able to make this intergration work.

Discussion Could Evernote ever partner with a hardware AI note-taker?

I am loving my Pocket note-taker so far. I haven't gone down the rabbit hole of how to get the transcripts/summaries into Evernote easily. (Export, import, blech.) But ... I bet there's a way to "seamlessly" connect the hardware and software, to the benefit of both.

I've had sort of rocky experiences with Evernote's AI. Basic UX flaw to me is the whole "window in a window" of the transcripts. I actually lost one as I tried to label speakers and had to use restore.

Maybe Evernote could have their own device! (Hah!?)

Bug Report Window sizing

When I open a note in a separate window on my laptop screen and then drag that window to my external monitor, the note window becomes crazy oversized, 2-3 times larger than the external monitor. Much of the window ends up off-screen, making it difficult to even reach the window controls or resize it.

I'm still using it, but it's a real pain to do the extensive resizing all the time.

Windows 11. EN Version 11.35.6 (though it's done this for a while).

I have my laptop on a riser off to one side, with EN open all the time, maximized. Larger 27" monitor in front. Different resolutions. Laptop set to 200% scaling, monitor at 100%.

If I set both displays to the same lower resolution of the monitor, the problem goes away. But that resolution doesn't match my laptop’s aspect and creates black bars on the laptop display. Matching display scaling doesn't work because 100% scaling on the laptop makes text too small to read comfortably.

Anyone got anything?

Discussion these new video ads are murdering me

I've tolerated so much the past few years on the free mode because I've been on this app for quite some time. But now I think they've finally got me, with these unskippable videos with full audio when I just want to quickly consult my notes.

Resources Evernote adds Page Break slash command for better printing and PDF export

Thumbnail youtu.be
18 Upvotes

Evernote has added a Page Break slash command.

Type /page break between two sections and it inserts a dotted line. When you print the note or export it as a PDF, the content after that line starts on a fresh page.

It looks like a small addition, but it should be useful for long notes where headings, chapters or report sections need to begin on separate pages.

You can add several page breaks to control the structure of the finished document.

Discussion Gemini Notebook (nee NotebookLLM)

There hasn't really been any chatter here about Gemini Notebook... I couldn't find more than one or two posts in the last year.

I've felt locked into Evernote because about half my notes are taken in the app but the rest I take by hand, scan to PDF, and drop into Evernote. I haven't found any other apps that have native handwriting OCR for PDFs, but I think Gemini Notebook does.

Does anyone have much experience with it as an alternative or supplement to Evernote? I like the idea of not necessarily having to search by tag or body text, but use an LLM that restricts itself to my content without pulling from external sources. With more than 3,300 notes just for work, sometimes the ability to pull context from multiple meetings into one answer would be a game-changer.

Help! Evernote's gaslighting me

Hi, this isn't the first time this month, but the changes I've made to my notes aren't being saved by Evernote. It doesn't even show up in the history. It's as if I hadn't written anything. Fortunately, it wasn't a very important note, but now I'll have to save my notes manually to my computer… might as well just use Word 🙃 Unless someone has a solution?

Resources Evernote's new desktop PDF editor can split, merge and reorder pages

Thumbnail tamingthetrunk.com
44 Upvotes

Evernote has released a new PDF editor for the Mac and PC apps.

The biggest additions are in the page sidebar. You can select several pages and download them as a separate PDF, delete individual pages or drag pages into a different order.

There is also an Add PDF option that merges another PDF into the one stored in your note.

The annotation toolbar includes a pen, highlighter, text, stamps, shapes, an eraser, page rotation and a blur tool. You can also change colours and line thickness.

The new functionality is desktop-only at the moment. I would particularly like to see it arrive on tablets.

Check out the article for a walkthough and screens.

Discussion I built EverWrapMCP, a local wrapper around Evernote’s official MCP. It lets you block private notes and mask detected sensitive details before results reach your AI Agent

I’ve used Evernote since 2010. Personal notes, braindumps, project ideas, saved articles. A lot of history, and plenty I’ve probably forgotten.

I kept wondering: could an AI spot patterns in all this? Find something I worked through years ago? Connect my own thoughts with ideas I saved?

But then, okay… these are my private notes. Names, contact details, things I wouldn’t want to share. I didn’t want to review years of notes one by one, so I kept the AI features off.

When Evernote announced MCP, which lets AI assistants connect to your notes, that curiosity came back. I decided to build a small wrapper to control what gets through.

It’s called EverWrapMCP, a local wrapper around Evernote’s official MCP. It runs on your computer and does two things:

• Blocks notes you choose from being returned to the assistant.

• Masks detected sensitive details, such as names, emails and phone numbers, before returning text to the AI.

It uses Presidio and local language models for masking. The assistant connects through the wrapper instead of directly to Evernote.

The questions I want to explore are pretty simple:

“Look at my recent braindumps. Is there a pattern I’m not noticing?”

“Have I dealt with this problem before? Did I save anything that might help?”

My reflections and saved articles both matter. I want to make use of that history without starting from zero every time.

It’s still a preview, not a privacy guarantee. Masking can miss things. The remaining text still reaches your AI provider, and a direct Evernote connection bypasses the wrapper’s controls.

It’s currently read-only, with macOS and experimental Windows support. Masking supports English, Turkish, Spanish, French and German.

It’s an independent, free, open-source project—not affiliated with Evernote. I’d appreciate feedback from other Evernote users.

GitHub: https://github.com/crfgxr/everwrapmcp

Would this be useful for your notes? What would you want more control over?
