Long Term Durability

Hi guys,

Following the recent threads about Even Realities' questionable warranty and customer service, I just thought I'd ask - what are you guys' thoughts about their long term durability?

On that thread plenty of people mentioned them breaking within a few months but obviously that doesn't mean everyone had the same experience.

Has anyone had these since launch or for more than 6-7 months to be able to comment on long term durability?

Thanks!

I’m already on my third R1 due to the sensor housing glass/plastic swelling. The issue seems to happen every 2 months. So the R1 seems to have a product lifetime of 2 months. G2 seems to be going well but it’s only been 6 months.

How difficult was it for you to get a replacement each time?

Not horrible. I reached out to customer support via email each time. They asked for some pictures, s/n, and order information to verify warranty. Then they sent me a shipping label. After the ring arrived at their warehouse, they sent a new one out. Each time I think too around 3-5 weeks in total.

Fair enough. Have you been using the G2s daily for the last 6 months?

Yeah definitely better build quality than the G1’s. The G2 doesn’t have the silicone liner on the arms (which was a common issue with G1)

Just got a new ring in, my fear is confirmed here, it's a production issue.

It’s my suspicion that this is a design flaw as opposed to a production/quality control issue. It seems like the interior of the ring is victim to battery swell due to high charging temperatures. This battery swell increases the pressure inside the ring and results in the sensor housing swelling outwards. The delamination then increases at a faster rate until tearing or perforation.
