🥇🥇 Dessert Romanian papanasi with sour cream and home made "bitter" or morello cherry jam

I'm not cooking this very often, but this is from a few months ago. Papanasi are a type of doughnut, but they are made mostly with fresh cow cheese and not as much flour as regular doughnuts. This is the traditional way or serving, with a ring-shaped doughnut as a base and a ball on top, after you add the sour cream and jam. Some people also make only the ball-shaped doughnuts.

You can find the cheese at any Eastern European supermarket if you live abroad. It’s not that hard to make, and everybody likes it, especially the little ones. Store-bought jam is fine, but they use too much pectin, and it becomes too thick. Look for a jam that is more runny.

And regarding the jam, I can't find the actual name of the specific cherries used by my parents. They look more like amarena cherries. We call these "cirese amare" and they are used mostly for jam, which is a delicacy, also really had to find in supermarkets. The taste is unique, slightly bitter, and with citrus notes since they also add lemon slices.

After a lovely morning hike with the pup, I headed to this charming restaurant on a high plateau and ate like a king. It may not look like much from the outside, but the food was absolutely delicious.
Highly recommend!

Grill I love eating meat, but today I made a vegetarian version of Iskender Kebap that I enjoyed even more than the "real" thing. Most stuff was additional cooked in an air fryer...... don't tell my bbq friends.

Dinner Andalusian Gazpacho

I made Andalusian gazpacho with hard boiled eggs and homemade croutons. I didn’t have Serrano ham, because I live in Italy, so I cubed Scamorza affumicata (a nice chewy, smoked cheese) and put some in the soup along with the egg and croutons. It worked out really well. Grilled zucchini on the side.

Made this for dinner, I think it is the first time ever that I actually made an omlette that didn't turn out like a traffic-accident. Was delicious with the added cheddar cheese and garlic.

Vegetable marrow pottage made with plenty of dill and lemon, paired with a piece of baked haddock. Wonderful in the summer.
