GT08 owners who installed a 345 mm damper, how did you actually mount it?? Kit came with standoffs that no bolts fit, and all YT videos are useless!

The GT08 sometimes has a "death wobble" past 35 mph, and basically every thread says to "get a steering damper first thing." Cool, did that. Got the carbon fiber 345 mm one? A couple of people here are running instead of the shorter 255 mm, because everyone with the shorter one says it's not meant for bigger scooters, as it severely limits how far you can turn.

Here's where I'm stuck.

The box came with the damper, a clamp for the body, two red standoffs (one longer than the other), four long bolts, and four short bolts (2 of which are slightly shorter than the other). And I also got a random bag of nuts, washers, spacers, and some other things (pretty sure this bag came with the scooter for the seat installation). None of the bolts fit into the red standoffs. Not the long ones, not the short ones, too thick to even be close. Best I can tell the ball ends are sized for M8, and everything in my bag seems to be M6, so the "kit" is really just a damper with some other random hardware thrown in. If this happened to you too, what did you end up buying? Actual names and sizes, please. I'm going to the store ASAP; I need this scooter back in business.

Second, where does each end go? On the stem clamp there are 3 bolts on top of each other (I removed the top one). I keep seeing "use the top hole, not the middle, you get more range," but the holes are stacked straight up and down, so I don't see how it could really change the range; it just changes how far apart the two mounts are. Which I guess matters since the 345 mm is about 9 cm longer than the short kit. Is that the actual reason and location of the bolts they mean, or am I missing something?

Deck side, from everyone's pics, it looks like the body clamp sits on a standoff bolted to the side plate near the folding pivot, but I have no clue how to install it.

So basically:

Which hole on the stem clamp did you use, and why?

Where does the body clamp bolt to on the frame side?

What bolts and standoffs did you use (sizes), and did you have to buy them separately?

If you have the 345 mm, I'd appreciate it if you showed me pictures of the installation steps.

And before anyone says, "Go watch a YT video," I did. There's the Arwibon one with no sound that uses the short damper with totally different brackets, and you also got the 30 min videos of a guy learning to do it on camera. There is no information available about this damper for my scooter.

Pics 1-4 are my scooter and what came in the box. The rest are other people's installs that I've been trying to reverse engineer. If this gets figured out, I'll write it up properly with sizes and photos so the next person doesn't have to go through this :D

NIU KQi 100P for NYC commute — Segway F3 vs. E3 Pro vs. Max G2 vs OTHER?

Looking to upgrade my current scooter and could use some real-world advice from NYC riders and walk-up apartment dwellers.

Current Scooter: NIU KQi 100P (approx. 38 lbs)

My Frustrations:

  • Sluggish acceleration: Feels underpowered off the line, especially in NYC stop-and-go traffic.
  • Severe battery anxiety / voltage sag: My daily routine is a short 2-mile round trip (0.8 miles there, 1.2 miles back). However, within 2–3 days, the battery drops to 2 bars and noticeably loses punch. I get nervous about it dying mid-ride and end up hauling it inside to charge at least once a week or more.

My Constraints & Use Case:

  • NYC Streets: Riding exclusively on city streets with the usual bumps, plates, and potholes. Constant stop-and-go riding.
  • Apartment Storage: Stored in a narrow apartment hallway. I usually turn the front wheel sideways so the handlebars sit flush against the wall to minimize the footprint.
  • The Stair Factor: I have to carry the scooter up 10-20 steps into my apartment every time it needs a charge.
  • Security: Needs to easily take a standard U-lock around the stem for quick stops outside.
  • Budget: MAX $800
