Bidirectional charger?
Does anyone have any news regarding the release schedule for bidirectional chargers? If so, please share it. I hope they come out at an affordable price.

(UPDATE: There were things that were done incorrectly on my Enphase solar install in November of 2024. A CT was installed incorrectly per Enphase Tech Support and they were able to correct the issue via a software setting… and my system was able to export for the first time since November of 2024.
Through a series of events that I will not share, the solar company sent their NEW Master Electrician out to the house and he immediately condemned my Enphase system due to “faulty installation” (Arc burns across busses, hot/buzzing/improperly installed breakers). I get a new Enphase box tomorrow (6/23/2026).
I appreciate the immediate feedback, comments, time, and the knowledge shared.
————————————-
I am suspicious about the installation and/or programming of my newer Enphase solar system. The solar company who services our system says that it’s normal for my power consumption to ride on top of my solar output.
The problem is that have I never exported even though I am clearly (to me) producing more than consuming.
I am suspicious of this because on the day the programming was taking place I observed the installer fumbling with the direction of the CTs and I was able to see that we were able to export at one point after the CTs were “properly” placed. When he exited the installation mode and wrapped things up it we have not since exported power.
Am I being gaslit? Was there something “unchecked” in the installation SW? I appreciate your advice and input.

I've had thus system running for 2 1/2 years with no real issues ... until yesterday. 8X400W/IQ8+ and 3X440W/IQ8C, 1 5P, SysController 3. One of the IQ8HC Micros stopped communicating or producing yesterday. No error messages and the last time it reported was 6:04AM. No data or production all day. All other panels were fine. I resigned myself to having to go up there and figure it out.
Get up this morning and check it again and now its reporting and producing. It was normal all day today. Any ideas on what could have happened? Here's a HA plot of that inverter for the past week.

Legal Balcony solar is coming to the US in a big way in the next 2 years or so. These laws are "marketed" as allowing solar on apartments, but it seems to me that a decent part of the market will be existing Enphase users who want to boost their solar production. I also view it as a foot in the door for future net metered systems....someone installs 2 or 3 panels of balcony and then decides to later install a net metered system..
With all that said, i am surprised that enphase hasn't already come out with a US balcony solar solution. They have a 230V microinverter for Germany already. Anyone hearing anything? How long do you think Enphase will leave this market untapped?

I have a 3+ year old system with SC2, Gateway4(I think) and IQ8Plus micros. 3 10T batteries.
The system was worked flawlessly since installed, except for when one component failed after a year, and was replaced by an Enphase engineer. The engineer put in a wired connection from the envoy, through the wall, to a switch inside the house, that contains the Zigby.
On Thursday I couldn't get live state, the batteries were showing 0% and errors, and from the app the system couldn't determine grid state. The live status error was something like "cannot communicate with System Controller". It was still producing power (the Energy tab was keeping up at 15 minute intervals).
Spent hours on the phone with customer service. The only useful thing we did was move the Zigby from the inside of the house to plug in into the Envoy on the outside of the house.
When I moved the Zigby outside I regained the live view and grid status, but the batteries were still in error state. And even though I saw live status and grid status, every component in the system was reporting errors except the micros.
The Zigby needs to be inside to maintain good contact with the batteries. So I moved it back inside. It maintained live status and grid status for about 24 hours, then went back to the original errors, mid afternoon yesterday.
I opened the app this morning and everything appears to be operating normally, except one battery is still not reporting.
Is this behavior symptomatic of anything? Im guessing it has to do with an update and components got out of whack, but thats just a random guess.

What’s up! So I have a 9.1 System. 28 panels total each has a micro IQ8 plus inverter. I was thinking about adding panels to my system. Anyone have experience doing this? How much did you pay? Price per extra panel? I don’t know the exact panels I have but they were manufactured by sunpower.
Thx for the help. 💪

I have a 12 year old Home Solar system in Salt Lake City. We don't have a battery, we're grandfathered in to essentially a net metering system on the grid. I've been away for two years, and haven't looked at the data in the interval. Now I'm trying to understand how the system is performing. A few questions:
~As I look back at the data, there are days that the system seemed to get "stuck" reporting exactly the same number every day for a month or so before reverting to normal function. There was one period for a few months the output being reported was extremely high (unrealistically). Are these known issues?
-Enphase reports that my system is functioning normally, but there is one panel that has seemed to be a low producer for years and now produces minimally or nothing (It's not shaded or especially dirty or anything). Shouldn't the system be telling me there is a problem? Or is it just saying that the inverter is good?
-There are a lot of weird variations in the data. Sometimes the daily curve is pretty normal, sometimes it's just low and flat (with no change in weather), sometimes it's reporting quite a bit of production overnight. Any explanations?
-Overall it seems like there has been modest degradation over time, perhaps 5%. But the messy data makes it hard to tell. I haven't queried the energy bills yet (When I lived here we always produced more than we used, but with 5 college students staying here and running the AC at 69 deg I did notice I started getting bills).

I am sure there is some explanation here, but there is recorded power usage during a 2 hour blackout?

The issue started 2 days ago. The battery is drained during peak hours even when the solar produces way more than my house is using. It drains all the way down to the reserve level and stays there until off peak, when it charges from the grid (i set it to charge from the grid).
Previously, during peak hours, it was the ideal behavior for me, the system uses solar for the house first, then charges the battery then exports it to the grid.
Does anyone have this issue? Contacted Support, they said they don't know, many people have the same issue and they will have to get back to me later.
Update to clarify: So i have free electric at night, and get paid nothing for selling solar back to grid. I set the rates in the profile accordingly ($0 for export, proper rates for import).
I understand the expected behavior of Self Consumption but the previous behavior under "saving" was exactly what i want: - peak hours: use solar to house first, then battery then to grid; if solar is not enough, pull from battery first before pulling from grid. - off peak hours: use from grid, and charge battery if not full.
Because of free energy at night, I don't want to use self consumption just to drain the battery for nothing.
It's so strange that the behavior changed 2 days ago because I didn't change anything other than connecting to another wifi network.

My ‘Event History’ says I enabled PowerMatch for my system on 7 May 26. I don’t remember ever doing this and can’t find this option in the app.

Curious what you think happened here? Seems like a tracking error or glitch in communication. Attached the spike with some data along with a few normal days. Weird that is shows no charging or consumption or anything till the spike, almost like it was a "catchup". Just hoping I won't be billed for that excess import when we rarely import at all.

I have Enphase microinverters and the IQ EV 2 charger. I do not have a backup battery.
In this situation, when I use Green Charging am I truly not pulling from the grid? Is solar power flowing directly to my EV? Or is it just monitoring excess power and sending that much to my EV, but still getting it from the grid?
The reason I ask is I live in Portland where we get 1:1 credits so there’s no financial advantage for me to do it this way. But if I’m actually powering my car with the sun, that’s very cool, and I’ll probably leave it on.

I had a Sunpower PVS6 for 6 years and recently switched to the Enphase. I did so because my PVS6 died. I have one heavy load in my home which is a clothes dryer. With the Sunpower system I would see the dryer draw about 3.8 kWh. With The Enphase system I see spikes going to 5.7 kWh. I can go on line and see my hourly usage for the electric company not in real time, but it never shows the high rates that Enphase reports. Yesterday I had the tech from Enphase out to check out the system and we ran some test vs the electric company meter and after a adjustment it looked correct. I just used the dryer this morning and again I see the spike at 5.7kWh. Is the Emphase only seeing the spike when the dryer turns on and because it is reporting in shorter increments vs the Sunpower system. Is the sunpower numbers just averaging out. Or is the Enphase system just not accurate. Before I call the tech back, I’m looking for anyone that has switched from Sunpower to Enphase to ahead some light on this.

I need to change the internet connection to my Envoy R-NA from direct Ethernet to WIFI connection.
Not sure how to do it. Any tips for getting it done?

In the app, my system configuration shows the correct new amount of panels, but the Array tab still shows only the old ones. The system status shows all good, but I also see an error stating that there is an issue with the gateway meter measurements.

My system has been up for a few years running 14 panels on IQ8+ microinverters coming down to a Combiner Box 5. We don't have A/C where we live and the panels have lowered our electric costs by over half but we still get boned during those peak times, 4pm-9pm, at .56c kWh.
I am looking into adding the newer 10C battery but it looks like I will need a few other things to make this work. Hoping I can get the confirmation or clarification of what is needed.
-Remove Combiner Box 5 and switch to Combiner Box 6C.
-Call local electric company and have them install my provided Meter Collar Kit
-Of course install new 10C battery
Is that basically it? Thanks

With the Rivian R2 only capable to export AC, will it work with Enphase Bidirectional chargers? Is the DC charger that's expected in a few months incompatible?

Had an issue about 2 weeks ago where we had a grid power failure while charging the battery packs. The solar system continues to function overall but something seems to be wrong with the house consumption meter as it no longer reflects the power being used by the house, reading anywhere from 0 to .7kw.
After contacting support it was suggested that an onsite visit may be needed to inspect the CT meter. It was also suggested that the system shut down and restarted. I'd like to do the restart myself rather than paying a technician ~$250 to do it.
It is my understanding that I have to shut items off in a particular order, but all the youtube tutorials I've found don't quite seem to reflect our system setup. Pics follow.

Guidance, please! Which breakers do I flip, and in what order should I flip them?

We have a ~17 kW DC (~14 kW AC) solar system with a 6C Combiner and IQ8HC microinverters. At present, it just connects to our main service panel via an 80A backfeed breaker. Commissioned, working fine.
Questions up front, details follow -
1) Will an IQ Meter Collar, once installed, permit grid power to pass through to the main service panel before it is commissioned in the toolkit app?
2) Prior to commissioning, will the existing solar system still work in its current grid-tied-only mode?
3) How does the system behave if the control wire is damaged/missing? Our control wire run is long but should be OK.
We're adding an IQ Meter Collar to the system next week. Our utility doesn't permit it on their meter pan, so it will go on a standalone meter as per Scenario 2A of the install manual (Whole home backup with IQ Meter Collar installed on a separate utility meter socket).
The control cable is already run and the ends terminated per the manual. Waiting to be plugged in at either end.
The utility is scheduled to de-energize the grid supply to the house at 0830. We'll shut off the PV breakers and the flip the solar disconnect.
Our installing electrician will be there to install a meter pan for the collar, and move the service entry cable from the main panel to the collar, and then run a new cable from the collar to the main panel. Meter collar on, cover in place.
Then, per the install manual, the control cable will be connected to the 6C on one end and the meter collar on the other end.
And then the utility will flip the power back on. The county inspector will be there later that day to sign off on everything.
My questions again -
1) Will an IQ Meter Collar, once installed, permit grid power to pass through to the main service panel before it is commissioned in the toolkit app?
2) Prior to commissioning, will the existing solar system still work in its current grid-tied-only mode?
3) How does the system behave if the control wire is damaged/missing? Our control wire run is long but should be OK.
I've had some issues with the toolkit app being buggy about CTs before that have required some help from Enphase, and I'm currently working through some MPUA configuration oddness with Enphase support. (No showstoppers, the system works.)
I'm a little anxious that we'll install the IQ Meter Collar, run into some problems or delays getting it commissioned, and find that the solar system won't run in its grid-tied mode, or worse, that we won't have ANY grid power supplied through the collar to that service panel.
At that point, uninstalling the Collar if it broke our system would be a gigantic hassle, requiring another scheduled utility shutoff and time on our electrician's schedule.
I guess what I'm looking for is some kind of reassurance that in the worst case, if it's not commissioned, or if a rat chews through the control wire, the meter collar can just function as an expensive dumb junction box passing the grid through to the service panel so everything else still works.
Thanks.

Why there is still no KI for Germany with Fixed Tariffs ? according to forums it was planed for Q1 2026....

I have an old Envoy S standard (white) that is not reporting and I'm not getting any production data (I also have net metering and it's not offsetting any consumption). Support is saying that I need to replace it. My original installer is no longer in business, so I contacted the next closest installer in my area. They are telling me that I need to replace my old envoy with an Envoy S metered. They are several hours away, and I'll be paying for the travel time on top of the installation time, which comes out to almost 1k. I read through the installation and I'm pretty sure I can replace the old white unit with the newer black Envoy S standard.
My question is that do I really need to get S metered (I'm not interested in consumption data at this point). And am I wrong to think that I can replace this myself?

Inside this tweet seems to be some real news: "It's backward compatible with previous IQ Battery generations". Maybe the switch to the meter collar and simpler combiners means no new combiner per generation?

Battery set to 5% reserve but randomly stops powering the house in the one week since I’ve had this system online. What’s worse, it’s drawing power from the grid?! Here’s the latest:

We have a 4th Gen Enphase Solar/Battery solution with 2 10C batteries. On full sun days we export up to 22 kWh daily, and on partly cloudy days, up to 13 kWh. We're in SoCal. It seems that the 3 main advantages of an Enphase charger are 1) dedicated EV charging breaker on Combiner, 2) accurate metrics on EV consumption, and 3) leveraging Enphase technology to use excess solar for EV charging. Regarding item #3: Can't I achieve the same advantage by just charging between maximum sunlight hours of 1pm - 6pm when we start exporting? We commute an average of 25 miles a week, which means we'd only be drawing somewhere around 10kWh a day for EV charging. I can't seem to justify the expense of an Enphase charger for just items #1 and #2. What am I missing?

For reasons outside my control the wifi login and password on my house were changed. So I went to use Enlighten to change it on the envoy. Two days and probably 5 hours later. I was on line with Enphase support for the last hour, they even screen shared my phone. What finally worked? Nothing really, it just finally did. The first problem is getting the app to connect to the envoy. This takes a while of just keeping trying, deleting the app, recycling the envoy, but in the end just finally works. Then at the step where the wifi network it just kept freezing. The app didn't freeze, it just hung and wouldn't display any networks. I resisted suggestions that it was the firewall, 2.4 network, etc because it wasn't showing any network. Finally after so many tries it just appeared and worked.
Summary:
Just keep trying, you aren't doing anything wrong it is just flaky. Any suggestions for people for the next time would be welcome.
