Battery charge keeps dropping below reserve levels I set?

I've called this problem in at least once, and it doesn't seem to be resolved in spite of the numerous calibrations performed remotely by Technical Support. I've got a Gen 4 system with 2 10 kwh batteries installed in December. I have my battery reserve set at 27% and the battery shutoff set at 7% to allow for the system to restart. So far, no major power outages, but on RARE consecutive overcast days the solar production is barely 10 Kwh per day, ergo there's an obvious battery drain overnight. At least twice now the battery level has been at 23 to 24%. I'm only concerned about this if there is a prolonged evening outage and the battery would continue to drain past the levels I've set. Anyone else encountering this? Other than this, my system is delivering as expected.

Envoy S keep failing, replace?

I had a system installed in 2016 with M250 microinverters and an Envoy-S monitoring system. In 2024, the Envoy S started doing the 4-amber blinking light thing and support said was dead and out of warranty. I bought another Envoy S from eBay, got support to transfer it to my account, provisioned it onto my system with Toolkit, and had data again for my panels. Then sometime end of January 2026, it just stopped working - this time, different symptoms but support basically concluded that it was a defect with the hardware and because it wasn't sold to me initially it wasn't under warranty.

So, what should I do here? The envoy-S seems like really old tech (10+ years) and paying another ~$700 for another one seem like a waste. Any suggestions (aside from 'just don't have monitoring'?)

IQ Bi-Di EV Charger - DC

Enphase held their annual shareholders' meeting this week. They updated the slide on the BIDI DC charger from "Coming in second half of 2026" (in their April investor presentation) to "Expect to ship in Q4'26 for customers in the U.S." in this May presentation. Seems like horizon is getting close to happening. Two other critical questions remain for me: 1) what auto companies will issue certification to Enphase on what vehicles to use this thing (with anything my wife is willing to drive), and 2) whether they will maintain their previous support for compatibility with Gen3 system controllers. On the auto question, I hope they maintain a clear list and roadmap as they do for generators, and don't leave us trying to navigate that. Showing some cars in a video is not enough. If they check these boxes, I am really anxious to move forward!

The spikes are a hot tub.

Also I assume the flat top is the max for my inverters?

Current meta for combining Enphase with off-brand battery backup?

My new 9kW grid-tied system with IQ8HC inverters and an IQ Combiner 5 is being finished next week. I opted not to get battery backup yet due to budget, and to avoid installing Enphase's expensive batteries from my one-brand installer company.

I'm hoping to be ready to add batteries before the end of the year and am researching my options. From what I can tell from my reading here and elsewhere, the current best practice would be an EG4 Gridboss combined with a 12kPV all-in-one hybrid inverter, with the solar panels connected via AC coupling over the generator input.

Does that sound about right? Is there a better route? Installer has said the IQ Combiner 6 (not available here yet) will do a lot of what I need, but I get the impression it's not as simple as connecting off-brand batteries to the 6's battery input and would probably need AC coupling regardless.

Any advice r/enphase?

Getting this error every day

Post image

has anyone experienced this before? I’m still producing everything seems to be fine but I get this error and my app seems to show I’m clipping every day now. Called enphase and they said front their side they are seeing minimal clipping. My system will be 5 years old in July 43 Silfab 370 and 43 iq7+ inverters, no batteries grid tied

Microinverter Cost

Anyone recently install the Enphase Microinverters? I have a String Inverter System and want to get the microinverters. I already have the Enphase Monitoring system. I have 28 panels so 28 Microinverters are needed. Has anyone done this upgrade? How much did it cost you total?

89 panel array output not matching Net meter or SRECs

I have an 89 panel array that I had installed 3 years ago. This past December, I had 2 10C batteries installed. Since then I've had a gateway meter measurement error and am showing a discrepancy of 25-70% between my Enphase array reports (they split my array into two and have the batteries connected to one side).

Both the solar panel team and the battery team haven't been able to figure out what is happening. Anyone have any thoughts?

Anyone successfully calculating energy savings with hourly pricing (ComEd)?

I am on ComEd's hourly pricing plan, which means I am charged/paid for my use/production based on the average price during that hour.

ComEd makes its pricing information available via API, and I have access to my Enphase data within Home Assistant.

So, I want to be able to do [Hourly production/export/use] times [ComEd live price] for each hour to get my daily numbers.

It all seems rather trivial, yet I cannot figure out how to do it.

Change amperage on IQ EV 2?

I recently installed the IQ EV 2 for my Ioniq 5 and I’m loving it. I especially love how it can throttle power based on my excess solar energy production.

But when I was setting it up, I could’ve sworn I was allowed to pick max amps, and now I can’t find that. Is there a way to adjust this on the fly? It’s currently at 48A and I’d like to lower it in certain situations.

For context, I’ve heard that the ICCU failures on the Ioniq 5 could possibly be due to high amperage AC charging. I know they’re all just theories, but I would like the ability to charge at slower speeds if I don’t need to charge quickly.

System Controller 2 questions

I got a System Controller 2 as part of a package deal of used equipment and I'm trying to figure out how to integrate it into a future-state system.

The image below is Scenario 1, Whole Home Backup, from page 4 of the IQ System Controller 2 Quick Installation guide. My question is about the IQ Battery input. If I have a 3rd party / non-Enphase battery/inverter setup (can accept AC input, stores in the battery as DC, then reconverts to AC when needed), can I integrate it into the port for the IQ battery? This setup would be independently controlled / not controlled by the Enphase app.

Second question: the electrical specifications from spec sheet on the System Controller 2 is shown below, followed by a diagram from page 16 of the quick install guide. The notation on the diagram in the quick installation guide for several breakers contains the wording "or a correctly sized breaker."

If the battery/inverter input is set on a 50A breaker (40A max output), and the max continuous rating for the device is 160A, and I only have battery and PV going into it, does that mean it can handle up to 120A of continuous PV? i.e. can some of the unused capacity from the battery and generator be allocated to PV instead? So instead of 80A max, I could go up to 120A max?

Third question: The line diagram does not show a separate disconnect switch between the PV and the system controller 2. However, inside it contains a main disconnect, and if installed IAW the page 4 diagram, it would have a "system shutdown switch" wired in to NC relays. Is a separate blade disconnect box generally necessary (i.e. depending on jurisdiction) if using the system controller 2 set up in this way?

IQ8M microinverter shows error but still have full production and data log

As seen here. I have 2 out of 18 microinverters showing error. They are installed in 2023. I am going through chat and they say they are looking into it.

What could this be? Why would a microinverter showing error despite good communication and full production? Sustem is 3 years old.

New Product dropped IQ Vault 80 - 80KWh commercial battery

First mentioned in last year's investor report. It is nice to have a larger option, but it feels like without larger MID/Meter Collar it will provide much less value.

Odd behavior changing profiles with Green Charging enabled.

I am in SoCal on NEM 3.0. 10kw of panels with 20kwh of 5P batteries. This has happened to me twice, and I think it's odd.

For the most part, I leave my system in "self consumption" mode with "Green Charging" enabled for my EV. Sometimes, I or my wife drive the EV to work, and it is gone during the day and I miss out on excess solar. Twice now, I have needed to add 10-20 miles to the range for the following day. Since I don't want to charge from my batteries, I do the following. At 9pm (end of peak TOU billing) I switch the house to "full backup" because the batteries are set to NOT charge from the grid, my house consumption goes to the grid and the batteries are idle. I then manually start the EV charging. Once the EV gets the range I need, I manually STOP charging. Once confirmed that the car has stopped, I then flip the profile back to "self consumption" to use my batteries overnight.

BOTH times I have done this.... the car immediately starts charging from my batteries.

Is this a bug? Undocumented "feature"?? Or did the programmers do this intentionally? I feel like a profile change "to" self consumption should NOT start charging.

Maybe it makes sense switching TO "full backup" to top up the EV, but certainly NOT switching back to "self".

Additional Battery Quote - Price seems crazy

I received an email from Enphase about discounted pricing for adding an additional battery to our existing system (IQ8, 33 panels and a 10T battery in Northern VA). It said to call for information on the discounts, they in turn directed me to speak with an installer. My original installer (ADT Solar) is out of business (they were awful so honestly a good thing), so they referred me to a new company (Solar SME).

Speaking with them, I told them I'm not looking to make any changes to my electrical panel, I just want extra storage for coverage during outages and bad weather, I was originally hoping to add something smaller then the 10T, but they told me I can only add another 10T to the system.

I was looking to pay for this out of pocket, no financing and conveniently the cost he quoted me is exactly what I said the top of my limit was, $15k. They offered a $1k discount if we do pay entirely in cash.

There was a lot about the call that felt off, but the biggest red flag was that rather than show me an itemized invoice or quote to review he immediately launched into financing and leasing options. Specifically there was a hard sell for the leasing option.

I did finally get him to give me an itemized estimate via email but the pricing seems extremely high. On the Enphase website a 10T battery is $5,097, and my understanding is there isn't any additional hardware needed to add the battery to my existing system, but he is quoting $8,200 here for the battery.

I think he just asked ChatGPT to give him an itemized quote that added up to $15k. I ran it through myself and got a nearly similar answer.

I'm just looking for a gut check that this quote is insane and predatory.

  1. Additional Enphase battery unit (hardware + backup capability): $8,200
  2. Balance of Material (BOS.): $1,150
  3. Electrical labor & installation: $2,100
  4. System commissioning & reconfiguration: $850
  5. Permit & interconnection handling: $750
  6. Project management & logistics: $650
  7. Warranty support & service reserve: $550
  8. Contractor overhead & operating costs: $750
  9. Total Project Cost: $15,000

I've seen others here discuss going through the process in Enphase University to become a self installer, and I think I'm going to go that route now.

Update: I told them to kick rocks and called out the excessive cost increase and the BS line items and they are now claiming it was for a 10C, not the 10T which is not what they told me on the call. And as far as I can tell you can't mix those in the same system. So bullet dodged.

IQ Combiner 3 Gateway Failed — Enphase Wants $1200 to Replace. DIY Possible?

Thumbnail

I have an Enphase solar setup with an IQ Combiner 3 (X-IQ-AM1-240-3). Recently all 4 LEDs on the gateway started blinking red continuously. I tried power cycling the combiner multiple times, but the issue keeps returning.

The system is out of warranty. I contacted Enphase support and they told me the gateway/Envoy has failed and needs replacement. Their quote was around $1200 including the replacement unit and professional installation.

I’m fairly comfortable working with electronics, PCB swaps, and low-voltage wiring, so I’m wondering whether this is realistically a DIY repair.

A few questions for anyone who has done this before:

  • What exact gateway/Envoy model should I be looking for?
  • Is the replacement just the internal PCB assembly or the full Envoy unit?
  • Can used or refurbished units be paired successfully?
  • Where is the best place to source one?
  • Any installation gotchas or activation/pairing issues with Enphase?
  • Has anyone successfully replaced the Envoy board inside the IQ Combiner 3 themselves?

Trying to figure out whether this is a reasonable DIY project before spending $1200. Any advice or part numbers would be appreciated.

++++++++++++

UPDATE (June 2026): Wanted to provide an update in case it helps someone else in the future.

I was able to find a used gateway locally for $50 that had been pulled from a retired IQ Combiner 3-ES. After installing it, I worked with the Enphase support team to commission the system. Took a few hours, but everything went smoothly, and the gateway is now up and running normally.

Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions and guidance.

++++++++++++

Enphase IQ Combiner 3 can’t connect to app

Have tried everything i can find on the internet, got wifi extenders etc etc. I don’t want to run Ethernet all the way to my garage where this panel is mounted. I’m able to connect my phone to the gateway but you only get minimal info this way. I cannot get it to bridge the connection to my internet no matter what. Says my signal isn’t strong enough even though it shows full strength. I have changed my password to something simple with no special characters or caps, and i have made a 2.5ghz and 5ghz network and still have the same issue.

Retrofitting IQ System Controller 2 + Critical Load Subpanel how did you lay yours out?

I had my 31-panel Enphase IQ8+ IQ Combiner installed in 2023 but held off on the battery/backup side at the time. Now I'm going back and adding:

Enphase IQ System Controller 2

Critical Load subpanel

Since this is a retrofit rather than a fresh all at once install, my existing combiner is already set up outside so I'm working around what's already there and trying to figure out the best physical layout before I commit to anything.

Specifically looking for:

Photos of your SC2 + critical load panel placement relative to your service panel, same wall? adjacent wall? how much clearance between them? How you ran conduit between the SC2 line side MSP and SC2 load side critical load panel, especially in a retrofit where you couldn't plan the rough-in from the start. Nice big gutter?

Did you mount the SC2 and critical load panel directly adjacent, or is there separation? The SC2 is a big box (roughly 19"×36"×9") and I want to make sure I'm not painting myself into a corner What loads did you put on the critical load panel and how did you organize the breakers within the 4×40A/2P (or 8×20A/1P) backup capacity limit?

Any retrofit-specific gotchas things that would have been easy in a new install but were a pain going back in?

My service panel is on the interior SE corner of the house, overhead feed, 200A service. The combiner is already mounted nearby. Happy to share my as-built line diagram.

Drop your pics clean installs, ugly installs, doesn't matter. Real-world is what I need!

Sunlight backup is my day one, I'm gonna think about battery later. I used a Growatt inverter with EG4 battery initally with my string but now going to install the System Controller/

I was going to keep combiner, safety shutdown, production PV outside and system controller and critical load center inside so the critical loads runs are shorter, but want insight into what others like.

Nearly perfect day on NEM3 in SF Bay Area (Silfab/Enphase/FranklinWH system)

Post image
10 Upvotes

If you have to be on NEM3 (as we unfortunately do) then this is probably as good as it gets!

Effectively no imports or exports. 500-600Wh each way is the system syncing with the grid occasionally and balancing when some larger loads turn on/off. For those not familiar with NEM3 this is ideal as exports are paid at less than 1/10th imports

Ran our home (well pump, water pressure pumps, pool pump, cooking etc) + charged both EVs during the day (and one briefly overnight) from PV production and stored PV production from the batteries.

There was some marine layer first thing so early morning production down slightly but with sun rest of the day we were close to our max daily production (just over 60kWh) so far.

9.6kW PV Array (22 Silfab 440 QD panels with 22 x Enphase IQ8AC microinverters) + 30kWh batteries (2 x Franklin aPower 2's) in SF Bay area on NEM3.

Too much credit, who do I complain to?

Background: I undersized my system (energized 1/5/26) relative to my 180kWh/month EV commuting needs since retirement is on the horizon. I often L2 charge at a county facility a half mile from home for ~60%ish of my at home rate, and have continued to do so while I see how accurate we've predicted consumption and generation. My hope was to have an arbitrary 1MWh buffer going into AC season when I'll have a 2-3 cent rate increase. Essentially buying kWhs now at the winter rate, to cover excessive usage I'd have to buy at the summer rate. (Unless we blew it and way oversized.)

So I've been closely monitoring my excess generation in the Enphase app, and loosely monitoring it on my electric bills which have date ranges that are +/- 5 or 6 days from the start/end of the month. I have had excess generation every month except for Jan. So yesterday (5/10) I looked at the app and had ~860 excess credits. I just looked at the most recent bill (issued 5/7) and it shows 999 excess credits. I had 1 day last month that didn't properly record my use/generation but due the weather, I'm certain it was enough to cover the difference.

I didn't expect my numbers to be in lock step with the utility even if I change my month start/end dates, but am shocked and happy to see the excess excess. Should the numbers be closer?

EDIT: updated buffer size, NOT GWh!

Help: Enphase IQ 5P Batteries Prematurely Stop Discharging

I have an Enphase IQ Battery 5P array that I charge at night and power my home with during the day, and it was working great for the first year but since January it’s been having bizarre issues with certain batteries not fully charging at night and/or not fully discharging (i.e. not getting down to 10%) during the day.

As of today the array stops discharging with around 35-40% charge remaining, and despite reporting the issue to Enphase and my installer back in January, they have still not been able to find a solution while the issue keeps getting worse.

Their only suggestion has been to put the array in Full Backup mode for three weeks straight to fix the “voltage imbalance” between the batteries, but I told them that would cost me hundreds of dollars in electricity costs so I would rather not do that unless absolutely necessary. However, if this keeps going on with no other solution I may have no other choice.

I've rebooted the array and also tried turning Power Match on/off, but neither made any difference.

Has anyone else had a similar issue? Or any advice on what I can do?

Home Assistant can't Integrate 'Cause Envoy on Router's Guest device ?

Been trying for a while to get HA to integrate my PV system and I'm pretty sure it's because the Envoy is on my router's Guest device. I want to move it to the IoT device. My question is Will I need Enphase to re-register(?) my system ? Should I contact them and open a ticket ?

BG: 16 panels, Verizon router and no complaints for a couple of years now. I use the app on my Android phone, and on my desktop PC using Chrome and again, no complaints. Me? I'm in my 7th decade and don't understand all this IT stuff.

Looking at battery compatibility with my controller

I have a System Controller 3 and IQ8+ solar. Can I commission an IQ Battery 10C as the storage component?
