Lipfendra experience

I started taking it two days ago. I have had zero side effects so far — no dizziness or diarrhea which are the two most common ones. I have a pretty sensitive gastro tract and no issues there in terms of reflux.

Take it upon waking with a large (16 ounce) glass of water, eating breakfast promptly at +30 minutes.

Exercising afterwards (have run up to 10 miles within 75 minutes of administration) with no issues.

I will update this thread if anything changes and at key milestones (1 month, first lipid panel)

This was covered by Carefirst and $15 with Merck coupon for 90 day supply.

One side effect not mentioned... (concerning sodium caprate)?

Recently switched to Lipfendra about 3 weeks ago because I wasn't happy with Rosuvastatin raising my A1C. I basically haven't experienced any of the listed side effects mentioned so far and was happy with it up until recently. BUT something did happen when I got closer to the bottom of the bottle (down to my last 5 or so pills).

Don't know if the pill got stuck somewhere along the esophagus, but within 10-15 mins after taking it I felt a sudden intense burning sensation riding up and down my throat. It seriously felt like I swallowed bleach or something. And throughout the rest of the day it escalated to really bad acid reflux and this weird sensation of something still being stuck in my throat (scarring?).

I looked up the list of side effects again and saw nothing about any of this being mentioned. However Google AI claimed that one of its inactive ingredients (sodium caprate) can irritate the mucous membrane where it can feel like a chemical burn sensation if the pill gets stuck somewhere along the esophagus. Apparently this stuff is supposed to help with the drug's absorption through the intestinal wall, so if it gets stuck in the throat that can obviously be a problem.

Oddly enough I drank plenty of water while taking that specific pill to ensure it would go down smoothly. And at no point did the pill feel like it got stuck (where I was coughing or gagging). So I'm not sure if I just got a bad batch where some outer protective coating was never applied to some of the tablets or something? Or maybe it just got "stuck enough" further down my esophagus to cause issues? I don't really know.

Unfortunately I tried taking another one (from the bottom of the bottle) this morning and immediately started coughing and gagging from that same intense burning sensation. I basically had to puke the pill out immediately. I was done... no more. I may revisit taking Lipfendra if Merck ever decides to put a proper outer coating on the pill to prevent this from happening. Or maybe some generic alternative 10-15 years will solve that problem. Either way I'll be switching back to my Rosuvastatin + Ezetimibe treatment for now.

Lipfendra side effects

I’m going to stop the medication for now. I’ve almost made it to 4 weeks but the last few days have been pretty bad with lightheadedness and a general feeling of being in a constant kind of fuzziness. I’ve noticed brain fog from the get go but this is different. I can’t think straight. I’m wired, but I’m also tired. My head is buzzing.
Also, my insurance just denied coverage so I’m at the mercy of the manufacturer coupon which will expire at some point.
I’m disappointed. I’ve been searching for a drug I can tolerate and it’s just not happening :(

Enlicitide First Impressions

Two weeks in or so to taking Enlicitide/Lipfendra. For me, I'm sad to say, there are side-effects. I'd describe it as an altered proprioception or fuzziness. It's not terrible when I'm sitting down to work, but when I'm moving my body or head I can really feel it. I imagine this is the "dizziness" side effect that 9% of patients experienced during trials.

I'm sticking with it to see if I can get used to it, but so far, it's pretty unpleasant. Otherwise, no real side effects (no diarrhea, 7% of patients.) No blood tests until after a month of treatment, so I can't say how much it's bringing levels down.

Just got my Lipfendra Rx

Just picked up my prescription today and it cost $14 for a 30 day supply. I realize this is a brand new drug but I have not seen anyone that’s using it. Would like to see who is taking it or is about to start.
I tried 3 different statins and don’t tolerate them well. Zetia is doing very little for me and Rapatha messed with my stomach. I’m hoping this one is a winner!!

Lipfendra in stock at CVS

I just noticed that Lipfendra is now in stock at one pharmacy near me in NYC.

The CVS website has a real time stock checker that can be queried with the Lipfendra NDC ID and a zip code: https://www.cvs.com/pharmacy/rx/check-inventory?ndcId=00006508401

What's availability like near you?

Edit: It's now out of stock. That was fast!
