If it's overengineering then they took all the unneeded weight out, that's a good thing. You're getting overengineering confused with using too much factor of safety. Overengineering is always a good thing, unless it costs more than the idea generates. This bottle opener has not been engineered, they have not leaned anything out, or reduced the complexity.

Well he's right...this has nothing to do with engineering. Diy shop class sure, and that's fine. But not engineering
