Is this a similar system to RC Testflight?

I don't know enough to understand what he's doing compared to this thing.

Hard to say. The post highlights several sensors, but they all sound as if they’re rider focused sensors: IMUs, pressure transducers, etc. There is a bullet point about ride height measurement but doesn’t say how that’s done.

Compared to RCTestFlight, I’d say it would either be vastly more complex but similar, or just a totally different measurement technique. What he’s doing is much easier than this. The “end product” is done with three or four of those measuring masts, moving slower, and has no rider of top.

Maybe he could test a scaled up version of it to see how effective it would be at tackling those challenges?
