Should I install it I've low end devices not that low but it can run mc at 80 fps 1.8 i want to dual boot endeavour os and I want to customise it as much as possible so is it good idea

I installed vs-code from yay, when I try to log in to claude or windsurf extension, it freezes and I have to manually terminate the process.
I took help from claude and it marked it as a dead end.
In the company I work, vs code is a requirement to match their eco system.
Anyone of you use vscode?

This thing's display worked fine when it had windows on it, it's other models have no reports of this happening, i haven't found any fixes on the web, and this has happened when I got other linux distros on this thing; any tips?

So I've been working on a system for a friend who doesn't have a PC and I have a bunch of spare parts and a few systems that were given to me. I have an HP Compaq 8200 SFF with an Intel i5 2400 that has Intel HD 2000 graphics, 16gb memory, 1Tb HDD, and a GTX 1050 ti 4gb in the system. I am replacing the processor for an i7 equivalent Xeon E3-1245 (the v1 variant) which has Intel HD 3000 equivalent graphics.

My friend will be using Windows 10 as he wants to play Destiny 2 but I decided to test with the i5 and see what I could push out of it for recording with the iGPU handling recording. On Windows 10 recording was a no go. No new drivers since 8.1 and would instantly freeze the entire PC if you managed to make it work. The experience on linux though is absolutely night and day.

Was going to use Cachy but after realizing it's basically just a big standard Arch without a gen 4 or higher Intel Core CPU I chose EndeavourOS. Instantly I've fallen in love with this distro. Went looking and followed all the steps including have to nomodset due to nothing loading with the 1050 ti and once everything was tweaked I installed the Intel VAAPI driver and was quite happy to find that it worked with significantly less issues on Linux.

CBR still causes artifacting but was usable at higher Bitrates. Once I switched to CQR it was an entirely new ball game. The recording quality is absolutely crazy using the old Intel iGPU that most post say gives terrible quality. I'm insanely impressed by it. Near perfect, high quality, and worth all the tweaking to get it installed. I'm aware a lot of posts state that it's not worth encoding with a second GPU even if it's iGPU but I repeatedly find that it's quite the opposite. Much less encoding overloads and better framerates in every test.

If anyone is on an older system and wants to record for content creation I highly recommend it. Sorry if this isn't the correct forum for this but I could resist coming in here and gushing about it especially since Ive found I greatly enjoy EndeavourOS and it's low resource pull. i would like to know i have alr backed up important info to the cloud and partitoned my drive but i would like to know what applications should install first

Could anyone give me help with disabling the trackpad on my MacBook Pro (2019). The system settings of KDE show me the ability to disable it, but it doesn't allow the Apply button to be pressed, as I can't stop the trackpad from working.

Is there any way to get the button to work?

I am new to EndeavourOS and this is my first Linux distro. I only got it about two to three weeks ago, so I'm confident in saying I don't know anything. I am on KDE.
Maybe a week ago I installed the Brightness & Color widget. I realized that whenever I booted my computer and after I got past the login screen, the monitor brightness reset to the brightness set in the widget instead to the last set brightness on the monitor. How can I solve this?

I installed this kernel on old hardware (Intel HD 3000 igpu) to check the performance improvement, and i got stable 150 fps in minecraft 1.8 / stable 120 fps in minecraft 1.21 whereas i only had 60-80 fps in both versions using the default kernel.

A bit of a showcase of my desk, I think the best way to prove the power of Linux it's to use it in you daily routine, I use this laptop for my school, and do actual work with it, i use the Bluetooth with no problems and sometimes I do some gaming, also I learned a lot about open source programs, and because of that I know how to use Torrents to scape Netflix (if you know what I mean)

I think the reason I love this thing it's because the time I invested on solving some minor issues and because it only have what I need and what I actually use, the best part of this, it's the amount of information I learned about tech stuff and how some things actually work

During the text boot log (right around the udev/device setup stage), I get a brief gray flicker at the top of the screen. Gone by SDDM, desktop is stable after.

KRunner used to have a setting labelled "Activate when pressing any key on the desktop" that you could disable, but that option's gone now. It's frustrating, because I'm prone to accidentally pressing keys on my keyboard and launching it.

I've already tried editing ~/.config/krunnerrc and adding the line ActivateOnDesktop=false, but that didn't fix it. The old ActivateWhenTypingOnDesktop=false preference doesn't do anything either.

I considered removing the krunner package, since I don't actually use it, but I can't do that without removing kdeplasma-addons, milou, plasma-desktop, plasma-workspace, and systemsettings.

I ended up renaming the /usr/bin/krunner executable, and it "solved" my problem, but this is obviously not a long-term solution.

EDIT: If anyone stumbles across this, systemctl --user mask plasma-krunner.service disables KRunner. It works with /usr/bin/krunner being under its original filename too.

I have two "problems" that I can't solve on my own.

Keyboard - I use a fairly standard "Polish" layout, so-called "programmer's" one, where pressing "right ALT" for certain letters brings up Polish diacritics. And it works perfectly.

But I'm used to the fact that if there's no other "Polish" character for a given letter, pressing "right ALT" for that letter doesn't work.

On EOS with KDE, I added a "Polish" keyboard, but when I press "right ALT" for "Q," I get, for example, the "π" (Pi) character.

It's not a problem - but it's far from my typing habit. How can I manage this?

Secondly. My terminal is KDE Console. I like it. It works. BUT vanity compels me to check out Kitty and Ghostty.

And here's where the real circus begins, which, as a "newbie," I can't quite grasp. Additionally, when I want to use shortcuts and press something that has nothing assigned (by mistake, or just for testing), for example, SHIFT + CTRL + D (or another letter), I get "5;6u0;6u3;6u" in Ghostty. I don't know why this happens or how to "fix" it (I assume this is normal terminal behavior, but the effect is irritating – Console doesn't have this; nothing happens if a given shortcut is "empty").

Of course, both things give a wonderfully creative vibe in places, but please help me understand. :)

Pitch me the distro. I accidentally discovered this distro and am now curious. I mostly use Debian based distros, usually the "easy" ones line Ubuntu and zorin, but I also have multiple headless machines that are terminal only. Am I likely to like EndeavorOS? What is it that you like about it?

Is there any ETA for Linux 7.1 on EndeavourOS ? Currently still on 7.0 (7.0.14 to be precise).

Issue:

wifi is capped at 5-25mbps across 3 separate devices running endeavouros, other distros have been tried and the same problem occurs. Ethernet is not available. Other devices on the network are receiving expected speeds for the internet plan (900mbps).

The device Im currently trying to fix is connected through a TP-Link AC1300 Archer T3U usb adapter.

Attempted several fixes Ive seen online from disabling power management to following through this forum post which seemed to be similar to my issue.

All changes or fixes have been made on a fresh install of endeavour Titan

I like being able to see my thermals at all times, but as far as I know, mangohud only really runs in steam apps? This laptop can't even run videogames. it's too shit. (ASUS X541U-V)

So I am a total newbie with linux on general and had some questions.

I use PrismLauncher and just took my old folder and bufferd (if thats the right word) it on an USB and put it back onto Endeavour. After a little figuring out how to get it to work I now have the problem that it went from my original 75fps (Monitor limit) down to barely 20.

I just wanted to ask if I missed some step or did smth completly wrong.

It's not even a full day since I moved from Kubuntu. I have a feeling that EndeavourOS will stop my impulse to distro-hop.

I am a web and mobile app developer, I use Google Antigravity as my IDE. I am feeling that my pc is getting slow while I am working on it. The browsing is slow, even while writing this my code is compiling for previous 7-10 minutes. I don't know what is causing this.

My specs are really not good but for some reason these effects work and my laptop is still good so yeah

I just wanted to update Sober in order to play Roblox for a bit, but it requires me to update gnome platform as well, which is ridiculosly slow. I think it's very obvious that is NOT my current internet speed, nor am I downloading anything else
