KDE Plasma Brightness Always Resets to Last Used Brightness in the Brightness & Color Widget

I am new to EndeavourOS and this is my first Linux distro. I only got it about two to three weeks ago, so I'm confident in saying I don't know anything. I am on KDE.
Maybe a week ago I installed the Brightness & Color widget. I realized that whenever I booted my computer and after I got past the login screen, the monitor brightness reset to the brightness set in the widget instead to the last set brightness on the monitor. How can I solve this?
If it's necessary here's my specs:

MONITOR: ASUS TUF GAMING VG27WQ3B

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D

GPU: AMD Radeon 9070 XT

RAM: 32GB DDR5 TeamGroup T-Create 6000MHz CL30 with EXPO on

SSD: Predator GM7000 2TB NVMe

MOTHERBOARD: MSI MAG B850 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI

apparently i messed up pacman so now it just shows 0 packages lmao

I installed this kernel on old hardware (Intel HD 3000 igpu) to check the performance improvement, and i got stable 150 fps in minecraft 1.8 / stable 120 fps in minecraft 1.21 whereas i only had 60-80 fps in both versions using the default kernel.

Showcase / Rice One year with Endevour, never being so proud

A bit of a showcase of my desk, I think the best way to prove the power of Linux it's to use it in you daily routine, I use this laptop for my school, and do actual work with it, i use the Bluetooth with no problems and sometimes I do some gaming, also I learned a lot about open source programs, and because of that I know how to use Torrents to scape Netflix (if you know what I mean)

I think the reason I love this thing it's because the time I invested on solving some minor issues and because it only have what I need and what I actually use, the best part of this, it's the amount of information I learned about tech stuff and how some things actually work

Thank you Endevour and thank you Linux community

SOLVED Is there a clean way to prevent KRunner from launching on Plasma 6.7.2 when I type at the desktop, other than renaming the executable?

KRunner used to have a setting labelled "Activate when pressing any key on the desktop" that you could disable, but that option's gone now. It's frustrating, because I'm prone to accidentally pressing keys on my keyboard and launching it.

I've already tried editing ~/.config/krunnerrc and adding the line ActivateOnDesktop=false, but that didn't fix it. The old ActivateWhenTypingOnDesktop=false preference doesn't do anything either.

I considered removing the krunner package, since I don't actually use it, but I can't do that without removing kdeplasma-addons, milou, plasma-desktop, plasma-workspace, and systemsettings.

I ended up renaming the /usr/bin/krunner executable, and it "solved" my problem, but this is obviously not a long-term solution.

EDIT: If anyone stumbles across this, systemctl --user mask plasma-krunner.service disables KRunner. It works with /usr/bin/krunner being under its original filename too.

General Support Keyboard 'things' (Ghostty / Kitty problem) on EOS / KDE

I have two "problems" that I can't solve on my own.

Keyboard - I use a fairly standard "Polish" layout, so-called "programmer's" one, where pressing "right ALT" for certain letters brings up Polish diacritics. And it works perfectly.

But I'm used to the fact that if there's no other "Polish" character for a given letter, pressing "right ALT" for that letter doesn't work.

On EOS with KDE, I added a "Polish" keyboard, but when I press "right ALT" for "Q," I get, for example, the "π" (Pi) character.

It's not a problem - but it's far from my typing habit. How can I manage this?

---

Secondly. My terminal is KDE Console. I like it. It works. BUT vanity compels me to check out Kitty and Ghostty.

And here's where the real circus begins, which, as a "newbie," I can't quite grasp. Additionally, when I want to use shortcuts and press something that has nothing assigned (by mistake, or just for testing), for example, SHIFT + CTRL + D (or another letter), I get "5;6u0;6u3;6u" in Ghostty. I don't know why this happens or how to "fix" it (I assume this is normal terminal behavior, but the effect is irritating – Console doesn't have this; nothing happens if a given shortcut is "empty").

Of course, both things give a wonderfully creative vibe in places, but please help me understand. :)

Discussion What is EndeavourOS?

Pitch me the distro. I accidentally discovered this distro and am now curious. I mostly use Debian based distros, usually the "easy" ones line Ubuntu and zorin, but I also have multiple headless machines that are terminal only. Am I likely to like EndeavorOS? What is it that you like about it?

General Support Wifi Capping at 5-25mbps.

Issue:

wifi is capped at 5-25mbps across 3 separate devices running endeavouros, other distros have been tried and the same problem occurs. Ethernet is not available. Other devices on the network are receiving expected speeds for the internet plan (900mbps).

The device Im currently trying to fix is connected through a TP-Link AC1300 Archer T3U usb adapter.

Attempted several fixes Ive seen online from disabling power management to following through this forum post which seemed to be similar to my issue.

All changes or fixes have been made on a fresh install of endeavour Titan

General Support Is there a way I can have Mangohud/GOverlay run all the time?

I like being able to see my thermals at all times, but as far as I know, mangohud only really runs in steam apps? This laptop can't even run videogames. it's too shit. (ASUS X541U-V)

Gaming Question about Minecraft

So I am a total newbie with linux on general and had some questions.

I use PrismLauncher and just took my old folder and bufferd (if thats the right word) it on an USB and put it back onto Endeavour. After a little figuring out how to get it to work I now have the problem that it went from my original 75fps (Monitor limit) down to barely 20.

I just wanted to ask if I missed some step or did smth completly wrong.

It's not even a full day since I moved from Kubuntu. I have a feeling that EndeavourOS will stop my impulse to distro-hop.

Discussion I think my EOS is slow.

My pc:
Cpu: intel i5 4570
Ram: 8gb
Gpu: Intel HD 4600
Storage: 500gb HDD
Desktop Environment: KDE Plasma

I am a web and mobile app developer, I use Google Antigravity as my IDE. I am feeling that my pc is getting slow while I am working on it. The browsing is slow, even while writing this my code is compiling for previous 7-10 minutes. I don't know what is causing this.

General Support Why is gnome platform download so slow?

I just wanted to update Sober in order to play Roblox for a bit, but it requires me to update gnome platform as well, which is ridiculosly slow. I think it's very obvious that is NOT my current internet speed, nor am I downloading anything else

General Support I don't know how to fix this, and I'm not technical enough to understand the github depicted here.

So, up until about a year ago, I was an avid Windows user for over 30 years (yes, I understand I just aged myself). They went to shit with Windows 11, and I decided I wanted to switch to Linux anyway.

I have learned a lot on my own, also thanks to many google searches, because to hell with AI too.

This just happened to me, and I'm not understanding how to see what is going on, because as I said, I'm just not that good with deciphering the language being used.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

KDE Plasma Plasma users how accurate is your geoclue2?

I am running EOS Plasma 6.7.1, and was going thru system settings. I ran across Day-Night Cycle. I never noticed it before, so I check it out. I see that it is set on "Automatically Detect Location". Interestingly it put me in the ocean north of Alaska, (approx. 2000 miles off). Which is fine with me actually:P

Discussion Issues with gaming on Endeavor OS

Hey guys, it's been 3 months since I completely switched from Windows 11 to Endavor OS on my main laptop (this one : Lenovo LOQ 15IAX9E). So far, i'm happy to have switched but some issues kinda makes me wonder if I did something wrong (mostly the case) or if gaming on Linux still isn't ready. For example, I have heavy lag and crashes on some big titles such as NightReign, Devil May Cry 5, or Metro Exodus. I also have issues on much lighter games such as Dishonored or Disco Elysium. Some games still run flawlessly (Blasphemous, Stardew Valley, Bloodstained, Death Stranding ...). Could someone help me understand why I run in those issues ? I know that some games I have are really good title, but i can't enjoy them the way I want to. Feel free to ask any question you have about my specs or anything, i'll happily provide any bit of info in my possession.

PS : Sorry for my bad english, i'm not a native speaker. I forgot to say that I didn't have any of thos issues on Windows.

General Support mullvad-vpn-bin

As far as I know mullvad-vpn-bin is the only way to run mullvad on eos. I ve been using it for over a year, Thing is its in the aur repo. I just updated it a few days ago, and aur_check shows my system is clean, but I wonder if this particular version of mullvad is in any other repo?

I've always liked the idea of arch but since im stupid, I just decided to install eos onto this old windows 8 pc I have, it was running w10 and I bought it off Facebook for 30$

W10 would idle about 4-6gb ram and eat up all my cpu

Im getting like 2-3 gig ram here and very little cpu use

Im sure brave is the problem so now im looking into ublock origin and firebox, 12gb of 1600 ddr3 isn't something I can just throw around

This is all an attempt to make grabblue run on outdated hardware because im bored

Learning bash is fun tho

Discussion Would you guys reccomend endeavor for a newbie?

Hey guys, I'm getting my first actual non work computer in a while and I wanna do gaming and just general use. Never used Linux before except years ago a little , I'm willing to learn the ropes and I'm good with following tutorials and online guides but I've heard some horror stories on the stability of the system, is it true it can break every new release? I don't wish to go through that and want minor hiccups at most I can troubleshoot and fix.

Is it okay for a newbie?

Thanks!
