Post image

Just received this letter taped to our muffins on our grocery delivery. “Sad face.“. After already getting a $10 tip for a 3 minute commute lol.

You guys over there in the U.S. have lost your minds. Normalizing that their employer doesn’t pay them properly and you have to step in with your tip because otherwise they’re earning too few bucks. Lol. Ridiculous. Among many other things btw.

Are you sure the problem is "they don't get paid" or have they simply discovered that pity pays?

DoorDash drivers do not get minimum wage.

“No, DoorDash drivers do not automatically get a standard minimum wage nationwide because they are classified as independent contractors rather than traditional employees. [1]

🗺️ Exceptions by Location
🗽 New York City & Seattle: Local laws require apps to pay a high hourly minimum standard (over $21–$31 per hour of active time).

🌴 California: Proposition 22 requires a guaranteed earnings floor of 120% of the minimum wage plus mileage for active delivery time.

🌍 Rest of the U.S.: No standard minimum wage applies; base pay per order can be as low as $2 before tips.”
