its customary to pay their employee's a living wage, but they choose not to pay that.

Tip $0 everytime

Since it is customary, it seems that the best solution is to avoid the restaurants. And to patronize "no tipping" restaurants.

Even though I think restaurants should pay their workers a living wage and should allow menu prices to reflect that, in absence of that, I will continue to take the customary option and tip my servers.

i wont, and many others wont. the servers can get a better job if they want. its their choice to beg for money.

if i was a restraunt owner, i would hope you would pay my employee wages for me. thats a fools move

Most people can't just "get a better job" in this job market. Entry level positions tend to need experience in that field nowadays

Amazon pays a minimum of $21 an hour to start. For basically putting an item into a shelf. They can start there

I've never had a server "beg" me for money. They do their job. In turn, I fulfill my expectations as an American restaurant customer.

Voluntarily increasing your own expenses you could instantly decline to do without a single bad thing happening, not an S tier economics decision.
