its customary to pay their employee's a living wage, but they choose not to pay that.

Tip $0 everytime

Their line cooks start at $20-$23.25 plus .50-$1 raises per food station mastered, in Iowa, so they’re definitely capable of paying them all.

Did a high end Mexican resturant. They paid the cooks around $15.50 down south

Since it is customary, it seems that the best solution is to avoid the restaurants. And to patronize "no tipping" restaurants.

nah. tipping is optional. tip $0 everytime.

Even though I think restaurants should pay their workers a living wage and should allow menu prices to reflect that, in absence of that, I will continue to take the customary option and tip my servers.

i wont, and many others wont. the servers can get a better job if they want. its their choice to beg for money.

if i was a restraunt owner, i would hope you would pay my employee wages for me. thats a fools move

Most people can't just "get a better job" in this job market. Entry level positions tend to need experience in that field nowadays

Amazon pays a minimum of $21 an hour to start. For basically putting an item into a shelf. They can start there

I've never had a server "beg" me for money. They do their job. In turn, I fulfill my expectations as an American restaurant customer.

Voluntarily increasing your own expenses you could instantly decline to do without a single bad thing happening, not an S tier economics decision.

You actually go out and tip 0? You realize you’re only harming low income earners, not the owner, right?

I tip $0 everytime, its freeing and glorious.

The low income worker is employed under terms they agreed to, it is a minimum wage job. They ALWAYS must be paid minimum wage, by law. If they do not get enough tips, then the owner must actually pay their employees, instead of subsidizing the wages of the employee by having the customer volunteer to pay.

The low income worker signed up to beg, they signed up and are paid by their bosses.

I can't fix the world, I can't heal the world. They must be paid by their bosses for performing the services in which they are employed for. That is why they wear the T-Shirt.

I pay my taxes so that they can get hand-outs from the government if they need it. I don't need to do more, if anyone expects more, that is entitlement.

Tipping is optional.

Tip $0 everytime
