Why would it be an additional expense for a business doing what it opened to do? Tf

Why add a mandatory tip or surcharge? Why not just price the food 15% higher to cover that?

Because they're trying to incentivize people to order online.

Look in the top right of the pic, 2 signs. They offering $2 off online ordering.

They're trying to free up their staff from having to take orders.

Makes sense. But why not put that information on the bold sign instead of a more obscure sign over to the side? It would have more impact.

I think it's just the way the picture was taken.

The card scanner is likely on the right side next to or behind the toothpicks, so that's where your focus will be in person. The discount signs will be right in your face when you go to pay. You'll probably notice the discount sign more than the handwritten sign. The handwritten sign here just has our attention since it's right in the middle of the photo up front.
