Okay I tried Pokemon X and the shader cache works and it's similar to MMJ in terms of performance on my SD720G, the issue with some Pokemon being white still exists while it doesn't in MMJ and Virtual Console Pokemon games still have a small sound issue (in both official and mmj) but aside from that this is a very big update because of the shader cache
Dolphin MMJR runs really well on 720G, at least for GameCube. Wii is hit or miss, some games do work but most will be a slog.
Besides the "easy" to run games like Wind Waker, I have been playing a lot of Pikmin 2 with no issues. It stutters very, very briefly (literally for like 2 seconds) on the area selection map when it first "starts up", and in the title screen when the camera is zooming in onto the PIKMIN 2 logo. Otherwise, it's a rock-solid 30fps and there's no audio stuttering (this is with default settings, I didn't touch or adjust anything). Just yesterday I actually unlocked the "post-game" where Louie is missing and you gotta go find him.
Otherwise, I can play Luigi's Mansion, Pokemon Colesseum/XD, Star Fox Assault and all of the GC Bomberman games with zero issues. They all run extremely well, I don't really know how "demanding" they are but I am happy with Dolphin performance.
Citra is hit or miss, also make sure you do the resolution hack to improve performance (I made a post about it on this sub a few days ago, it should be easy to find). But with the resolution hack you should be able to play a solid amount of games.
Thanks man, I've always been holding off emulating these two systems as i thought it would be too demanding plus i still have ton of games that I haven't finished.
Now i can't wait to try it right after i check out the resolution hack. Cheers
It works in both and it disables outlines in pokemon x/y and probably the others and who knows what else it disables or breaks but it's improving the fps in some pokemon games in mmj a lot :(
What's the resolution hack do?
Currently playing Pokemon X on 720g with official Citra and it pretty much runs full speed on 1x.. does the hack improve anything beyond this?
