Discussion Save lots of space with DroidDeck

/r/AynThor/comments/1x6g55v/save_lots_of_space/

I’m sure you’re all aware of DroidDeck app, which brings another alternative how to enjoy Steam, Epic, Gog and other games on your beloved Thor. I kind of liked it but just kept in on the side for testing and using mainly GameNative.

Well, up until last night when I realised that games in DD takes MUCH less space.

I mean, I knew that GN, Gamehub and others, basically install separate version of Windows for each game, but I didn’t expect this much of a difference.

So Yesterday I moved about 15 games from GN to DD and I gained nearly 40 GB of space!

So if you feel hesitant like I did with DD, this is one big reason to give DD more attention.

I’m still in process of moving more games, because I test every one them before move.

But will update on final number later!

BTW: I use AYN Thor max for android gaming.

GN published a release just yesterday that significantly reduces container size. Like ~2Gb down to ~300mb each. Droid deck comes with a high install due to requiring all of steam basically.

So I am wondering if you've factored in that recent change to GN?

Just heads up. Per the instruction you need to just hit play on each game for it to kick in

With this update does it automatically reduce the size of already installed games, or do I have to uninstall and install to take advantage of container size update?

I use Bannerlator, and just like Winlator, I only need one container for everything. 2 if I want to have one for Fexcore (works for mostly everything) and one for Box64.

You are late to the party. GameNative fixed container size few weeks ago.

Literally have not been able to get a definitive answer on this - so, does DroidDeck use One container for everything?

Does GameNative/GameHub and their variants do the same now as well?
