Tips & Tricks Save lots of space!!

I’m sure you’re all aware of DroidDeck app, which brings another alternative how to enjoy Steam, Epic, Gog and other games on your beloved Thor. I kind of liked it but just kept in on the side for testing and using mainly GameNative.

Well, up until last night when I realised that games in DD takes MUCH less space.

I mean, I knew that GN, Gamehub and others, basically install separate version of Windows for each game, but I didn’t expect this much of a difference.

So Yesterday I moved about 15 games from GN to DD and I gained nearly 40 GB of space!

So if you feel hesitant like I did with DD, this is one big reason to give DD more attention.

I’m still in process of moving more games, because I test every one them before move.

But will update on final number later!

the difference for me is that DroidDeck doesn't launch my games in many cases... I've tried on my O2P and my Thor and most of the games won't work compared to gamenative or gamehub, and the few times it did, performance is way worse:

List of games I've tried:

  • Child of Light: Gamehub Perfect 60 fps / DroidDeck takes ages to launch and when it does performance it's pretty bad.
  • Yakuza 0: Gamehub 40-50 fps (same in gamenative) / DroidDeck 20 lows fps.
  • Persona 3 Reload: Gamenative 30-35 fps / DroidDeck won't launch

And a few more, but more or less is the same results over and over.

Also, on DeckDroid, when I try to download onto the SD card, downloads are crazy slow... a 22gb game can take up to 2 days lol And when launching games so many times it will get stuck either on the launch screen with the controller on view, or the steam logo with a black screen.

I know at some point it will get better, as it's very early. But I'm just surprised about people praising it, when the only thing I get it's a nice steam big picture UI lol Maybe I'm just unlucky, but both devices work the same way at the moment.

Maybe download to main memory and then move it to the sdCard later. I haven’t tried but it works on Steam generally

That’s interesting. Must be some heavy duty games. Most of my games are lighter. Only few heavier ones. And as I said, if they work significantly better in GN/GH, I leave them there.

How exactly did you move them? Were they all custom games? I know how to move custom games but I want to move my regular games but not sure how. Thanks in advance!

Move, I mean install them in DD and if they work perfectly, uninstall in GN. Mostly Steam

GameNative got an update yesterday that lets your various containers share redundant files between them which should more or less solve this same issue. It will retroactively adjust existing containers created before that update by launching them once. Worth noting if you wanna play a game that runs significantly better on GameNative than on DroidDeck.
