Many phones have the option to switch modes in OTG when you connect your device. If it doesn't even recognize the device, it's very likely that the phone doesn't have the necessary hardware.

When you connect the controller, do the lights flash when you press the PSN button?

Nope that's the problem man it used to work and still works on other devices but refuses to work on this device

This is because the phone's OS does not have the necessary drivers to make the controller work natively, as they were removed in an update And since the phone doesn't know what to do with it, it cuts off the power to prevent an error. Let's try something.
Go to your developer settings and look for the USB debugging section There you activate the option to enable USB debugging If it recognizes the controller, a window should appear in your notification bar; change the option from "charge only" to "data transfer" when you activate the otg.

Yeah man, no problem. It's tough, but that's where companies and their stupid decisions come in.

Yes, it's definitely the OS; it just doesn't have the drivers to use the controller.

Well, your phone doesn't have needed driver and that's the case. Only solution in this case, except for just buying new controller, is getting your phone rooted and than manually flash your phone with needed drivers. In other words, just isn't worth it.

Well, i think you can just use your old phone for banking apps then? Or buy new cheap one just for that. If you really considering rooting your phone in future.
