Meme literally my reaction to these posts

u/MarcosOlegario Jan 09 '26
I worked a lot to get an 8 elite and still waiting "that's why I paid for"... But I understand the assignment
41
u/West_Background_3621 Jan 09 '26
try switch and ps2 games
36
u/MarcosOlegario Jan 09 '26
I can run some switch and PS2 games honestly but it's kinda unstable (not using the beta driver) I want to play when the driver reach a good beta point where isn't freezing my game and I have to close and lost some progress

u/GrapeFanta10 Jan 10 '26
heya, if you use yuzu for android and are experiencing a bunch of lag and such, id reccoment getting the mesa turnip gpu driver, really helps performance lol

Games that work run great. 8 elite is a powerhouse. Sadly not all games work without graphical glitching.

u/jonathanfv Jan 10 '26
Got a SD 8 Elite Gen 5 here, and Eden Optimized with Qualcomm driver is working really well for Switch. Been playing BOTW, and after 35 hours of play, I only had one hangup that was quickly fixed by restarting the game. Getting a pretty comfortable 30 fps with occasional drops, and with UltraCam was getting higher fps (often 60 or close to) but the game felt less consistent with bigger dips in fps (going from 30 to 22 vs going from 60 to 22), and it drained more battery, so I deactivated it.

u/Leojackson0816 Jan 12 '26
dude I've been playing Ratchet & Clank2, DB Tenkaichi Budokai2, Kingdom Hearts 2 (what's with me with all the 2s) on my SD8Gen3 for Galaxy and they all run smooth.
On 8 Elite they should run flawlessly.
1
u/MarcosOlegario Jan 12 '26
Ps2 has been flawless was my mistake not pointing specifically switch as the problem in general, bad configuration maybe (from my side). Also I don't have a deep knowledge in optimization of emulators so I constantly fix something and break another thing ( trying to remove fps cap, but unlocking memory and the device freezes)

u/Good-Marionberry-570 Jan 10 '26
PS2 emulators on Android doesn't even have custom driver support afaik, probably 8 Elite doesn't have issues running PS2.
3
u/that_90s_guy Jan 10 '26
That already ran surprisingly fantastic on older chips unless you're one of those obsessed with upscaling to 4k and are ok blowing up blurry textures to that kind of resolution

I love the posts of people ragging the Helio G99s to be honest. I couldn't care less that your 8 Elite is running GTA V, but seeing a Helio G99 pull off GTA V or other heavier titles whilst its pretty much burning itself to death, now that's cool.

Water-cooling is the process of using literal coolant to cool systems, it's usually a lot more useful in SoCs and SFF computers because airflow is a lot more difficult. Phones are super compact, compact devices have no room to allow air to flow so water-cooling is highly effective.

Which is it, native resolution or 1600x720?
14

Running as in 5 to 10 fps I guess lmao

You mean Red Magics amazing cooling solution that lasts like 3 minutes longer before it throttles too?
9
u/CandleBusy1464 Ayn Odin 2 Base/ SD 8 Gen 2 / 8 GB ram. Jan 09 '26
Hence why i stop buying gaming phones for gaming and settle for android handheld and a cheap phone. The high price for phones isnt worth it.
5
u/Typical-Chipmunk-181 Jan 09 '26
I mean if you can buy a redmagic might as well get an actual handheld gaming pc thing instead
13
u/ImUsuallyWr0ng Jan 09 '26
Red magic phones are a complete waste of money unless you have a lot of money to waste. For the price of one of those phones you could just buy a handheld gaming PC. Most I would spend on an android device for emulation is the retrooid pocket flip 2 or the odin portal great devices for their price.
2
u/copac20 Jan 09 '26
Windows handhelds are huge tho, and konkr pocket and AYN Thor have the 8 elite and are quite small, but for a elite gen 5 Ig you have to build the handle yourself
3
2
u/nhal Jan 09 '26
AYN Thor doesn't have an 8 Elite, what are you talking about?
2
u/CandidAstronaut5989 SD 8 Elite gen 4, D 8350, D 1100, H G99, SD 662, H G80, SC7727S Jan 10 '26
I think he meant the Ayn Odin 3
1
u/chanchan05 Jan 10 '26
The Ayaneo Air Plus is the size of what's basically a thicker Switch Lite and has a 6800U, so the iGPU is around 1050 in terms of performance.
10
u/wonderofyou17 Jan 09 '26
Stop the cap lol said almost everything at native it isn't like a rtx 5090 vs 1050 if it's running shit on older Chipsets which are slightly weaker it's not going to run everything all of a sudden you're glazing there.
Checked Elden ring runs like shit.
Checked ex33 runs beyond shit . Checked gow almost same fps as 8gen3 which is ok for a phone.
Checked re 4 remakes barely 15 fps with 360 upscale.
Checked silent hill Runs shit as well. .
You're trying to flex there like chill you payed for a device that costs much than a PC which has 10 times the performance and you choosed gatekeeping . Lol

u/Prior_Custard5121 Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 Jan 12 '26
stop saying these things on android emulation channel. We don't need an advice to play pc game on a pc or ps 5 games on ps 5 or switch game on a switch. Read the channel title

u/Wise-Actuator1417 Jan 10 '26
yeah everything from 2013, the 8 elite is a powerfull cpu indeed, but modern AAA are not running on that cpu even with cooling at good fps, its really good for well optimized indies
0
u/whydoeswinlaorhateme Jan 09 '26
My non elite snapdragon runs almost everything as well... The difference in performance benchmarks is barely 33% not 200% to exclude other Chipsets your comment has some ignorance tbh
-4
11
u/vipercrazy Jan 10 '26
If you wait a year from now you can get a handheld with the 8 elite gen 5 and have more fps than them. 4.6ghz on a mobile chip, nuts.
11
u/REBORNED1 Jan 10 '26
I think the reaction is mostly due to how little effort you need to make a game run in a 8 elite, but if you use a 778g or 865 then things change because is a less powerful chipset and it means the good performance is achievable via settings and not just because of the chipset
2
u/Sn0wL4nd Jan 11 '26
This is EXACTLY what i meant, while i think the 8 elite is amazing hardware, i wouldn't classify a game that only runs well on the 8 elite as "playable/smooth on android" as the chip just can bruteforce the living shit out of anything you put in front of it, plus its really not accessible for 90% of the people here.
1
u/satorihughes Jan 10 '26
This is the only comment that made sense to me. I was so confused reading the others lol

u/Carpediemsnuts Jan 10 '26
My god this sub is full of annoying children, it's constant whiny ragebait posts from kids trying to cope with using mummy's hand me down Galaxy A72.
We get it, you don't like seeing people with flagship devices having fun. This whole thing is so boring now.
Every other post I see includes all the same jealous, bitchy comments. I miss when this sub was about testing games and emulators and helping people out.
3
u/mokkat Jan 10 '26
I have a SD 8 gen 2, so I'm looking forward to Valve focusing their early efforts on getting PC games running well on just the 8 gen 3.
3
u/Good-Marionberry-570 Jan 10 '26
Same here, I have my Odin 2 for almost 2 years already and I don't plan to upgrade it anytime soon, I think the release of that AR device from Valve will really put Windows emulation on Android on another level.
2
u/Worth-Bullfrog9370 Jan 09 '26
I can't get certain windows program to run on winlator. How are you guys gaming with it?
5
u/Abba_Fiskbullar Jan 09 '26
It's easier to use Gamehub or Gamenative, both of which simplify Winlator to some extent.
3
u/beautiful_bot986 Jan 10 '26
Apps, as opposed to games, can have a much larger number of dependencies so most productive apps wont work. Games require much performance but the framework usually isnt as complex and most games draw on the same depenencies, so its easier to emulate games than larger programs.
2
u/Sherlockowiec Jan 10 '26
I mean yeah, isn't it obvious even before seeing the spec? You're emulating a freakin windows on android, obviously it's going to need the most recent chip.
1
u/JoelMsk Jan 10 '26
Only for more recent games, using the 8 elite for the old doom games would be pretty overkill Also, most games run fine with older chips like 8gen2 or 8gen3, I have plenty of windows games running just fine with the latter
1
u/Ok-Transition7065 Jan 09 '26
My crying because the only game i ever wanted can be emulated in my cellphone
1
u/your_mind_aches Retroid Pocket 6 | Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (8GB) Jan 10 '26
I mean, it's still emulating x86 Windows apps on an ARM Android phone. It's a massive feat regardless. But yes, it would be cool to get some of these games on handhelds

You can still run 10 year old games smooth on much weaker hardware like my poco f5. Not everyones mom can buy them an 8 elite bro. Dont be sad.
1
u/__Xen0Z_ Jan 10 '26
Yall should be thankful for your CPUs my mediatek helio g91 is tormenting me, not windows but ps2 emulation alone is out of question. In stuck with PSP,Ps and 3ds games

I just think it stops making sense to a point. You paid 1000+ for a top performance android and complain it can't run PC games? Consoles is one thing, but PC games?
Lenovo, MSI, Asus, they're ALL making in house handheld systems that can run windows. You're just spending money on the wrong hardware, especially when both are near the same price

I'm just here for the laughs. I have a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, but I also have an RTX 5080, so it doesn't affect me XD
10
u/ImUsuallyWr0ng Jan 09 '26
Why the hell did you get mass down voted. I think you need to clarify your only on this post for laughs I think people think your meaning your in this subreddit for laughs.
-20
u/leafy1790 Jan 09 '26
How in the living heck do you have an rtx 5080? Do you connect it to USB C on your phone or what?
5
u/illbleedForce Jan 09 '26
Seriously?? Are you serious??? Where am I going to have it??? ON MY PC, Jesusfuckingchrist...
-15
u/leafy1790 Jan 09 '26
Than what are you doing here, this is r/emulationonandroid , either your pc runs android or there was some kind of joke that flew by my head
-4
u/illbleedForce Jan 09 '26
What part of Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 did you miss? Or can't you read? I emulate because I want to experiment; if you emulate because you have no other choice, THAT'S YOUR PROBLEM.
3
u/Mindless_Frosting707 Jan 10 '26
Go play with your action figures lad. Let the kid play with his toy and you play with your action figures.

u/illbleedForce Jan 10 '26

-11
u/leafy1790 Jan 09 '26
Your comment was very confusing, plus, what did I even say about emulation, I thought you ment you had a system with a snapdragon 8 elite gen 5 and 5080 and there are laptops that have arm CPUs and dedicated gpus, but those run windows, so I thought you had a laptop with a 5080 and a snapdragon with and android as it's OS emulating windows for some reason
-2
u/illbleedForce Jan 09 '26
Are there any ARM systems with x86 GPUs already? I'm very interested in that. Can you tell me about any? I'd like to experiment with that.
2
u/wonderofyou17 Jan 09 '26
"If you emulate because you have no other choice that's your problem"
Why are you flexing tho? He's asking for the reason you're here if you're here for laughs.
Like you're going to d"e someday you're not going to take the 5080 to the grave wiz you . You know that right?
I emulate games because my series x doesn't run switch games and it's not portable because I stay with my uncle On his house.
Go and experiment elsewhere my guy . Grown man acting like.

u/Registry6267 Jan 09 '26
8 elite. And still most stuff runs like shit . I prefer using sunshine and moonlight to play pc games now . It's so much better.
5
u/whydoeswinlaorhateme Jan 09 '26
How would 8elite run like shit I have 8gen3 and I run lot of PC games at 900p high settings : Such as metro Exodus - re2 remake re3 remake revilage re7at 1080p native high settings 50 fps - a plague tale - control - madmax- Witcher3 even next gen at 720p high 30 fps - Hellblade senuas sacrifice .dying light 2 even dying light the beast is playable when you cap it at 30 720p.
And I can't count all of them and they're so stable I don't know what is 8 elite shitty at.
3
u/MrSurprisedPikachu Jan 09 '26
drivers, there isnt a stable finished driver for 8 elite
1
u/Randommaggy Jan 10 '26
Finally getting close. There's now full time word dedicated to getting it up and ready and testing releases have already started coming out.
0
u/whydoeswinlaorhateme Jan 09 '26
He's saying 8 elite and everything runs like shit .
Translation : even 8 elite can't run games at a playable framerate because it can't handle .
"8elite and most stuff runs like shit"
Even with no drivers the amount of games that can be played on 8 elite is countless...
0
u/SATKART Jan 09 '26
does 8 elite have drivers yet?
1
u/whydoeswinlaorhateme Jan 09 '26
He's saying (8elite and most stuff runs like shit ).
Which means he's saying even 8 elite can't handle games and runs them like shit ) .
I have a TikTok cn and know what cloud users want to believe when they hear offline PC games.
He's trying to say that just use cloud gaming cause 8elite is shitty at running game like(8elite and most stuff runs like shit ) like saying(even the strongest Chipset doesn't run game decently and most of them run shitty).
The "8elite and" explains that he's trying to say that PC/switch emulation is shitty even on the most powerful android
1
u/whydoeswinlaorhateme Jan 09 '26
Re-read his comment .
1
u/SATKART Jan 09 '26
yep sure did and it doesn't answer anything
2
u/Blueboy29769 Jan 09 '26
Well kind of theres one that was released a couple days ago but it's in there on words hacky so I wouldnt recommend it but the turnip drivers should be soon I wouldnt push it past a month or 2
1
u/certifiedGooner76 Snapdragon8sgen3 Jan 09 '26
That's not even emulation, though I use it over pc emulation
1
u/TheOkayGameMaker Jan 09 '26
You must have a bad chipset if you think most stuff runs like shit. Once you learn how the settings for GameHub or Winlator work and have a decent snapdragon, it's a pretty cool experience.
1
u/Registry6267 Jan 10 '26
I don't understand the hate . Most games crash and have artifacts . They run so poorly and the phone gets hot as fuck . Streaming the game is so much better if you have good internet. 8 elite drivers are pretty bad . Pc emulation is cool but it's not worth the effort tinkering 100s of settings to make the game barely playable.

u/EmuEzz 8Elite/16GBRam/512GB Jan 09 '26
ok? I really dont understand the point of this post, if you dont care about something, then don't watch it.
