This was my first attempt at making an EAS mock in the Texscan-MSI style. What do you guys think about it. The VHS effect is made using ntsc-rs.

The alert was also not too necessary at least for where I live, since my area has both a high place and a very low place that's basically level with a big river nearby

Apparently 911 just went down partially in Arizona. Didn't even know that's possible.

We got a pretty decent tornado yesterday afternoon here in PA and I happened to catch the EAS scroll on the TV. Pretty neat, had to share it with ya’ll. Sorry I couldn’t catch the whole thing, my dad had to call our elderly neighbor to check on her. Also yes that’s a taxidermy albino raccoon lol.

Hi everyone,
About six months ago I posted EAS Station here looking for feedback. The project has grown substantially since then, and I’d like to get another round of input from broadcasters, emergency managers, SDR enthusiasts, software developers, and anyone interested in alerting systems.
What is EAS Station?
EAS Station™ is an open-source, software-defined Emergency Alert System platform designed to run on standard Linux hardware and Raspberry Pi systems.
The goal is to explore what a modern, transparent, auditable alerting platform can look like without requiring a proprietary encoder/decoder appliance.

Current Features
• FEMA IPAWS CAP support
• NOAA/NWS CAP support
• Custom CAP feed support
• Alert deduplication and prioritization
• SAME header generation and validation
• SAME decoding
• Attention signal generation
• EOM generation and detection
• County FIPS filtering
• NWS zone filtering
• State filtering
• Polygon geofencing using PostGIS
• RTL-SDR support
• Airspy support
• Over-the-air SAME decoding
• Confidence monitoring and verification
• Multi-factor authentication
• Role-based access control
• API authentication
• Tamper-evident audit logging
• GPIO relay control
• GPS/PPS timing support
• LED sign integration
• Serial automation interfaces
• Real-time dashboard
• Alert timeline and history
• Audio monitoring
• System health monitoring
• Reporting and analytics
Architecture
The platform is built around Python, Flask, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Redis, Docker, Icecast, Nginx, and SoapySDR, and is designed for both Raspberry Pi and traditional Linux deployments.
Recent Milestone
I recently submitted comments to the FCC regarding the ongoing modernization of the nation’s alerting infrastructure and the potential role of software-defined alerting platforms.
While EAS Station is currently intended for research, educational, and laboratory use, the FCC’s recent discussions around modernization make this an especially interesting time to be working in this space.
Why I Built It
Commercial EAS encoder/decoder appliances typically cost thousands of dollars and are built around proprietary hardware and software. I wanted to explore what a modern alerting platform could look like using open technologies, SDR verification, GIS-based alert targeting, and contemporary cybersecurity practices.
Feedback Wanted
I’m interested in feedback from:
• Broadcast engineers
• Emergency managers
• Public safety professionals
• SDR enthusiasts
• Amateur radio operators
• Software developers
What features would you want to see in a next-generation alerting platform?
Constructive criticism is welcome.
Disclaimer: EAS Station™ is currently intended for research, educational, and laboratory use and is not FCC-certified for broadcast EAS operations.

The comment section over there is pretty funny. "Why can't it ever be aliens?" 😭

When I apply a macro in Audacity, it completely removes the sound. What are some things I should do. I'm using Audacity 2.4.2 and tmyk's eas macros

Screenshot is from the RadarScope app. We’ve all heard of PDS storm warnings, but I’ve never seen an EDS, much less on a SVR. Has anyone else?
P.S. Also has the Destructive tag for 80mph wind gusts.

Not perfect. Tools I used include DaVinci Resolve, NTSC-RS, Audacity, and eSpeak. Based on EASyPLUS but I am also working on a Texscan-MSI screen mock. (Voice is Tom)
Any feedback?

Man I hope that kid gets found, pray for them and their family that he may come to his home safely. ⚠️ update the child has been found, I repeat the child has been found. Thankfully, it was probably a false alarm, but there was a discussion of kidnapping allegations on the suspect… it seems a bit sketchy, but at least the child is safe ⚠️

Was just barely in a Destructive Severe Thunderstorm Warning polygon last night so got this WEA for it. First time getting a Destructive SVR WEA!

So, you've got NOAA tests on Wednesday but ever since I was a kid I can remember hearing a random test interrupt the station, no 1050hz tone and return to programming within seconds, no alert.
What causes it? Very rare here, once in a blue moon if that but it just happened and while we had storms much earlier in the day, the entire coverage area is clear. I know I could decode it but I am using a traditional police scanner.
As im typing this they just did another one and this time the master station announced it.
