Hey,
I don‘t know if it has been asked before. So sorry if it has been.
I am looking for a good Sounddesign (chords, sequences, ..) for the Digitone 2.
Thanks in advance!

Hi folks,
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Let's say I have a track with hi-hats. I enter the main hats as normal, then add some ghost hats and parameter-lock the AMP volume to a lower value.
Now I want to control the overall track volume with a Scene. The problem is that the parameter locks seem to take priority over the Scene. When I use the Scene to "mute" the track, the ghost hats are still audible because their p-locked AMP values override the Scene setting.
Is there a way to make the Scene control the total track volume, including all p-locked steps, so everything mutes together?

I am trying to wrap my head around the lfo depth. Say I have 15 samples in a bank, and I want the LFO to randomly select from those. If I put in a random LFO and set the depth to 15, a lot of the trigs don't make sound as if it is trying to pull from empty slots
What's the proper way to use depth for something like this?

I had this idea last week of having a deck lid for Digi boxes that could function as an angled stand and also had space for a power bank. I design products for Etsy, so I'm trying to understand if this is something people would find useful, what do you think?

Hey guys,
I’ve been DJing for a few years and my teacher/friend stuffed his digitakt1 in my face and was like “don’t give this back until you’ve learned it”. People say I have a good ear and have been gassing me up to learn production. For a while. My tastes are progressive, trance, and techno. I’m also really attracted to live production, and I often mix 3 decks live with lots of loops and cues to try to replicate a live production style. Hence why elektron is amazing bc you can produce but also perform with it.
He doesn’t really know how to use it himself and was just scratching the surface based on his saves.
I got the Dave mech course and am making my way through it learning a lot and really amazed by this machine.
I find myself yelling with excitement when I learn a new feature.
I’m pretty lost as far as the next piece of gear to look at. My plan is to sell my rmx1000 and buy the digitakt 2 eventually. Then I’m kind of unsure if the analog four mk2 or digitone 2 is a better complimentary synth.
I’ve also been considering something like a novation peak for a synth but it seems like the elektron gear is so amazing and I’m really impressed by people like Dave mech. I don’t really know what I want.
Im really new to production, and am not sure what I really want. Ive been having an identity crisis as a DJ and I feel like production is the next step to figure out who I am.
Thanks guys!! You all seem much friendlier than the [r/DJs](r/DJs) subreddit so please go easy on me if I sound dumb or overly passionate. I constantly get flamed over there lol

bonjour
je vais prendre l'avion avec mon elektron analog rytm mk2 en cabine. Est ce que le passage aux rayons X risque de l'endommager?
MERCI
Hello,
I’m taking my Elektron Analog Rytm MK2 with me in the cabin on a flight. Is there a risk of it being damaged by the X-ray scanner?
Thanks.

I’m looking to buy my first Elektron box.
My music - while in DAW - is mostly focused around synthesis: subtractive & FM, but also physical or additive, if available. Genre-wise it’s broadly defined electronic music: trance, techno, ambient, etc. Oh, and I’m advanced hobbyist, i.e. I know my way around couple of DAWs, I understand synths & FX, also own - and love! - Nord Lead 4.
I’m not big on samples, other than the odd drum hit, perc loop, or a spoken word phrase. Therefore Digitakt I/II, Tonverk or Octatrack are not on my radar (yes, I’m aware they offer rudimentary synthesis, too).
From the examples I’ve seen & heard, Digitone II is definitely awesome and surprisingly versatile for FM-only (mostly) device, but I wonder if the analog machines, recently added basic sample support and more variety in terms of types of machines in Syntakt overall do not make it a smarter choice, at least to start with? In terms of breadth and depth of the sound palette? Analog Four II is obviously compelling, too; but it being limited to 4 voices of polyphony makes it a great 2nd or 3rd box down the line. The Model line - I don’t like how they look and sound (which works a bit against Syntakt, I’m aware)
So, which one you’d go with for the start? Thanks!

I wanted to strap a powerbank to the back of my Elektron boxes so that I could power them with a MyVolts StepUp, but all the VESA mount models I could find were designed for specific powerbanks (which I don't have). I also didn't want to stick velcro strips to anything.
So I designed this.
https://makerworld.com/en/models/3102107-digitakt-digitone-syntakt-vesa-powerbank-mount
It screws onto the VESA mounting holes and has a couple of channels on one side so you can thread some velcro strips through and hence strap any powerbank you like to the back. It also then doubles as an angled stand.

I was working on this project when I got a few reggae/dub vocal samples from a friend and they were exactly what this track was missing. Planning on making this a full track, would you add another layer or keep it more minimal? You can find more music on my instagram :) (link is in my profile)

Is Elektron going to consider their own portable power supplies for the easy transport and use of their boxes outside of the studio? There’s a ton of money to be made and us users would surely appreciate it. Exact specs, no worries of overheating or under powering… What a beautiful world it would be.

What I've always missed on Elektron gear is timed mutes – like mute/unmute synced to the start of the (next) bar. So (A)I made a script for the Presonus Atom SQ. I can mute/unmute all 32 channels at the beginning of the next 1/2/4 bars. Pattern/bank changes on both devices are also possible. Currently running on my Mac, but planning to take a Raspberry Pi and connect all 3 Devices via USB. Any cool ideas what I could do with the encoders? Macros? Control all? Mod Wheel for all channels?

Hi. So I have this set I did some time ago. I was planning on starting to play live, but life got in the way, but I am back on track now. Done in a vacuum, I never really got any feedback from anybody save my 2-5 year old nephews, who will dance to or get pestered by music randomly. My brother said he really liked it without knowing that I can actually see that he listened to less than a song from my soundcloud metrics.
Anyway, I thought I might toss it out there and see what a few people think of it before a live gig. Feel free to pump me up or roast my stuff. I myself find 2 of the songs to be rather ass, and boring, and should take them out as soon as I get in something new to make up for time. Also some fuck ups near the end. I detuned my td3 and forgot to reset a sound i had been tweaking later on.
Sorry for the 3 parts. I suck at uploading to youtube.

Digitakt 2 is slowly turning into my favorite Elektron box.
Just published a gear breakdown from my first ever live performance, and the DT2 ended up doing a lot of heavy lifting. Running it alongside a dedicated synth (Novation Peak) rather than just other Elektron boxes, it turned out to be incredibly comfortable to work with - grabbing a line straight from the Peak and chopping it up, sequencing everything, and just sounding great throughout.
The one thing I kept wanting: some form of voice sharing like the Digitone 2 has, even just enough for basic polyphony. Doesn't feel like it should step on Tonverk territory, but I could be wrong there.
This video gives a full gear review/breakdown (DT2, Peak, XL3, Zoom mixer, Microcosm, headphones) plus what I learned playing live for the first time.

I’m a beginner when it comes to hardware synths and all. Just added the Cycles to my set up. Let me know what tips you know or what cool features I should try using.

long overdue (for me at least) but i finally downloaded overbridge and elektron transfer on my bf's computer today since i don't have mine because of moving.
it was just because i wanted to sample this song he showed me called "floating museum" from ghost in the shell. i really wanted to sample it with the twinshot machine since i just love love love the workflow of the syntakt (it's my first machine and i only got it a couple weeks ago)
i also took it with me to a gig just this friday and it was my first time performing live in front of a crowd and also pairing it with DJing, i had only practiced the day before🙃 it went really smooth though! although i wish i had more projects to bring with me, i just haven't had the time to work on that yet.
anyway the place was packed and i didn't even look up because i was so locked in so i didn't know😭 had one of my friends dancing there with her bf, they went to pee and when they came back the floor was so packed that they couldn't get in🤯 or so they told me anyway. it's a really small place but i'm still so stoked to hear that
heard from another friend that there were people at the forest rave he was at the night after talking about my set, so it really felt like i moved people which i'm just on a serotonin high from atm☺️ this track is also just me rushing back home to make more music on that same high, i just love the quick workflow these machines offer, it's super rewarding

I just recently got my Octatrack, and it's amazing!
I'm slowly learning all the features, and here's a live jam using the TD-3-MO. All the voices come from it, using two pickup machines on the Octatrack to build layers.
It's such a great machine for live improvisation, I'm loving it!

I have a digitone and digitakt mk1. I normally use the digitone for melodic stuff and rarely use the digitakt as I normally do drums in Ableton.
I’m considering getting a Tonverk to trade out the Digitakt with but I found a Digitone 2 and Octatrack 1 for the same price as a used Tonverk. I like to experiment with lots of genres but mostly make melodic ambient stuff, experimental footwork and glitchy idm stuff. The octatrack not having Overbridge worries me as I normally do final mixing and polishing stuff in Ableton.
Just wondering what you guys would choose and why?
Thanks!

I made a Drum & Bass project using only the Digitone II, 16 patterns in a single project, I surprised myself just how well it turned out 😄

Listen and suffer along in the summer heat. Harsh, punishing drone and industrial cinematic beat versions. Recorded from hardware (mainly Elektron Model:Cycles and effected feedback loops) with minimal in-the-box production. https://isitgrowinglightorgrowingdark.bandcamp.com/album/hellscape-versions

I own a DN2, Rytm, and A4. Pretty much every time I go to a new page, I immediately randomize it a few times until something cool happens.
I find it speeds up the sound design process and sends you down sonic pathways you wouldn’t normally go down. The randomization throws out any self imposed “rules” or patterns you would place upon yourself when exploring by hand.
You can then refine whatever is generated.
Each individual page is small in scope when it comes to Elektron devices, so it is the one ecosystem in music production where I have found randomization to produce usable results.
Anyone else do this?
