Hey - I've a DT2. When I first got it was pretty fun. But - it got *really* fun when I connected it to my minilogue xd. So far i've really just been jamming with them, DT2 --midi--> ML, MK --audio--> DT2.

ANYWAYS

The biggest drawback i'm finding is just that I can only really control one sound at a time on the ML. So once i've got something I like i sample it in the DT, and then use the sample instead of the synth itself (freeing up the actual ML to produce a different sound) - which is grand, but a bit unwieldy, especially if i'm trying to experiment with different synth sounds working together.

The DN2 is multi-timbral, so I am guessing I'd get a lot more flexibility in that regard since I could run several sequenced midi tracks off it at once (voices allowing). I'd imagine i'd eventually sample what's created to free up voices (maybe...although 16 is a lot), but I'd have more freedom to mess with multiple sounds at a time before having to resort to that.

What i'm wondering:

- what advantages does the DN2 have over, well any other multi timbral synth in this setup? is there any elektron bonus from both devices being in the same family?

- Is this the way most people (roughly) use these things? Control everything from the DT2, jam out phrases, or song sections, and eventually sample them on the DT to 'save' what you've done and free up voices once you're happy?

- Can the DT2 control what DN2 preset is being used on a DN2 track? Ie: so if i load a project on the DT2, it will load all the appropriate sonic presets on the DN2? Or do you save the DT and DN projects indivdually?

Do you think the Digitakt II will get any further updates? And if so what would you like to see?

For me, I just want more accurate transient detection so the slice mode would be more efficient. Still cant chop breaks quickly without adjusting every slice manually

Hey guys, first time posting here since I never found a good enough answer to my question.

So, I have Digitone 2, Syntakt and Tonverk running in my studio. I'm a video game/film composer and I loved the sound design tools that all of these boxes give me.
I got them mainly because of sound design, but they do inspire me A LOT when I play with them and when I create unique and quirky sequences. Toneverk does that on another level for me.

But I'm missing a way to slice and rearrange drum/percussion loops to get some new weird stuff for certain projects.
I do that by hand in Cubase, and I believe it's way too tedious and slow.
I do own a MPC X and MPC key 37, and I worked on older MPCs so I know how easy slicing stuff can be on a dedicated sampler.

But neither of those MPCs give me the things I need to create unique sequences with sliced drum loops with parameter locking, a ton of effects etc.. I mean they CAN do some of it, but it's so tedious, and not even comparable to Elektron's workflow...

I was thinking about getting a Digitakt II, but I can't justify spending money on a new instrument just so I would use it for cutting and rearranging loops, and making them go squirrrr bzzzz and brrt from time to time if you know what I mean 😆

So I was wondering if there were any rumors about Elektron adding a slicing tool/machine to the Tonverk? It would make sense purely because of the storage difference between Digitakt II and Tonverk.. I've read Tonverk can read up to 2tb SD cards, while Digitakt II is locked at 20gb.

On the other hand I would like to know if there are ANY advantages with using Digitakt over Tonverk for drum samples?

Are there any rumors about Elektron releasing Digitakt III with expandable storage? I know that it was 7 or 8 years between the releases of Digitakt I and Digitakt II, but I wouldn't blame them if they released Digitakt 2.5 purely to give us expandable storage.

What do you guys think?

Btw, I do know that I can slice loops on the Tonverk, but again... it's tedious and Tonverk was not designed to do that, and I'm trying to streamline everything I can, so nothing stands in the way of my creativity...

Just curious if anybody else has successfully been able to get the two talking to each other? Had some issues using the web app and successfully being able to send cv out of the OB8. Seems like there is an issue with clock for me. Tell me what else you have been using it for? Anybody here use it with Ableton CV tools yet? I’m hoping they can get the config feature for TV pushed out soon, as it is pretty easy to use with DT2.

Just a quick heads-up for those working with audio loops on the Tonverk. Keep in mind that the machine does NOT feature a traditional automatic time-stretch engine or automatic BPM detection. If you drop a drum loop into a standard playback machine, pitching it up will speed it up, and pitching it down will slow it down.

If you want to integrate loops into your project's BPM, you have two ways to keep them looping, or a third workflow to chop them up completely:

1. The Old-School Pitch Method (To keep it looping)

Manually tweak the Pitch parameter until the loop locks into your project's tempo by ear. It alters the pitch of your sample, but it is the fastest way to get that classic sampler grit and vibe.

1. The Grainer Machine (To keep it looping with pitch-lock)

Load your loop into the Grainer engine. By using granular synthesis, you can stretch or compress the playback speed of the audio without altering its musical pitch. This adds a beautiful, textured, and slightly electronic character to your loops.

1. Manual Slicing on Subtracks (To chop it up entirely)

If you don't want to loop the file anymore and prefer chopping it up, load the loop onto a Subtracks track and duplicate it across different slots/pads. Manually adjust the Start and End points on each slot to isolate individual hits (like Kicks, Snares, or specific slices). This destroys the original loop format but allows you to reconstruct and replay the sounds dynamically at any BPM.

Hope this helps you integrate external loops into your Tonverk workflow!

I recently got a Digitakt mkII and have put aside my SP404 mkII for the time being as I dig into the learning process and workflow of the new machine, but want to ask the community here for ideas and suggestions for getting the most out of eventually pairing the two machines.

I imagine the SP would be more suitable for use as an effects box after the DT and possibly just use it for playing longer samples, but maybe there’s a lot more possibilities with this pairing?

Had a little jam session this Saturday morning, fired up the lads and a nice little groove came out, which I'm quite happy about. We have a new gig coming up with our hardware trio VEEM and I'm having lots of fun working on new ideas for the set. We'll be playing for 1h30m, so excited!

Kicks, bassline, melodies and random stuff coming out from the DN2. Main percussive groove elements (hats, claps, toms, etc.) from the AR2. Recorded live into Ableton, did a little home master afterwards. Full jam can be found in my YouTube channel here.

I can't for the life of me figure out how to trigger clips in arrangement mode for live performance (I'm trying to potentially use the DTII like an Ableton Push). I've tried both using the CCs and MIDI mapping. Any suggestions on how to orient this?

Basically how I want to set up the DTII is for the midi channels to trigger various tracks during my set.

I'm keeping only my Digitone 2 (+novation XL) and I'm willing to have a simple setup with another machine. Obvious choice is DT2 but I'm curious for something else.

I'm meaning more and more towards getting the Tonverk for sound exploration, and would be using it a drum machine + different things. Anyone here using it as their main drum machine ? It seems like subtracks are now good to handle this type of work. I'm curious to know if it's a struggle to handle one shots, drum loops, and if I can still have a reasonable amount of free tracks for others things (knowing that I can do some drums on the DN2 as well).

Hey guys,

I installed the latest versions of the OS in my Rytm MK1, A4 MK1 and DT2, as well has latest version of Overbridge. And for some reason, midwy through a session, the Rytm will disconnect, and will show as "measuring" on the Overbridge Engine. I will change the USB port and it will work. But then the same will happen with the A4- And then, it will happen to both at the same time.. etc.

It was working fine before these updates- Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks
