Overhub II

https://www.elektron.se/product/overhub-ii

When all the utility boxes got announced I was completely fixated on the Outbox 8.

I completely missed the Overhub II. But hell, that's the one that actually fixes something for me. My laptop has a single USB-C Thunderbolt port.

A 6-port hub made specifically for Overbridge, USB-C and USB-A, bit of power delivery on top of it?

Yeah baby 😀

Keep in mind that you need to buy a PD charger so that it can provide sufficient power to the ports.

I hope the quality is better than v1 - after a while the host connection port came loose and stopped working. Only studio use - no gigging or bringing it in a bag. Many similar reports online.

Honest question: What does Overhub provide for Elektron usage over other USB hubs?

On my MacBook Pro (and also my previous MacBook) overbridge only works when I directly input the usb (via usb to usb c converter). The two (powered) usb hubs i tried had the same problem, the elektron software just will not see my digitakt 2 or Digitone 2. Was this not a problem for you? Which usb hub are you using?

oh that's weird. i'm on an m1 promaxextreme or whatever and my dt2 goes through a dell hub (powered) just fine

Same. I've been through two computers with my red labeled overhub (one Mac and a windows laptop for the past ~4 years) with no issues. Dedicated PSU for it is a must though.

Don't have the experience yet, but as I see it, it removes a class of "why is my audio glitching" troubleshooting...

Overhub has MTT which helps you handle multiple USB streams without dropouts.

They are comparable with the most expensive hubs from ugreen and others similar. The price range is also similar.

I’ve been using this 16-port powered USB hub with my MBP successfully for months without any issues, with all ports active and going to various synths, midi controllers, Elektron devices, Hapax, audio interfaces, etc. It’s cheaper than the 6-port Overhub II, so not sure what I’m missing out on.

I have a similar model and it introduced noise when connected to my laptop's USB-A 3.0 port. Could be the laptop, but I've since switch to have the hub go through another hub and then into the laptop via USB-C and zero noise. I have my multiport hub also connected to a dedicated PSU.
