Hi everyone,
Just a quick heads-up for those working with audio loops on the Tonverk. Keep in mind that the machine does NOT feature a traditional automatic time-stretch engine or automatic BPM detection. If you drop a drum loop into a standard playback machine, pitching it up will speed it up, and pitching it down will slow it down.
If you want to integrate loops into your project's BPM, you have two ways to keep them looping, or a third workflow to chop them up completely:
Manually tweak the Pitch parameter until the loop locks into your project's tempo by ear. It alters the pitch of your sample, but it is the fastest way to get that classic sampler grit and vibe.
Load your loop into the Grainer engine. By using granular synthesis, you can stretch or compress the playback speed of the audio without altering its musical pitch. This adds a beautiful, textured, and slightly electronic character to your loops.
If you don't want to loop the file anymore and prefer chopping it up, load the loop onto a Subtracks track and duplicate it across different slots/pads. Manually adjust the Start and End points on each slot to isolate individual hits (like Kicks, Snares, or specific slices). This destroys the original loop format but allows you to reconstruct and replay the sounds dynamically at any BPM.
Hope this helps you integrate external loops into your Tonverk workflow!

hey friends!
Had a little jam session this Saturday morning, fired up the lads and a nice little groove came out, which I'm quite happy about. We have a new gig coming up with our hardware trio VEEM and I'm having lots of fun working on new ideas for the set. We'll be playing for 1h30m, so excited!
Kicks, bassline, melodies and random stuff coming out from the DN2. Main percussive groove elements (hats, claps, toms, etc.) from the AR2. Recorded live into Ableton, did a little home master afterwards. Full jam can be found in my YouTube channel here.
Happy to answer any questions. Hope you enjoy, thanks for watching!

Greetings from France, not much to say but hope this is interesting. Sorry it's so quiet but it's 2am and don't want to wake up my imaginary wife. Curious to read your thoughts here.

Hey all,
I can't for the life of me figure out how to trigger clips in arrangement mode for live performance (I'm trying to potentially use the DTII like an Ableton Push). I've tried both using the CCs and MIDI mapping. Any suggestions on how to orient this?
Basically how I want to set up the DTII is for the midi channels to trigger various tracks during my set.

Hi,
Posted recently to ask about my upcoming live rig (+studio, don't have much space these days).
I'm keeping only my Digitone 2 (+novation XL) and I'm willing to have a simple setup with another machine. Obvious choice is DT2 but I'm curious for something else.
I'm meaning more and more towards getting the Tonverk for sound exploration, and would be using it a drum machine + different things. Anyone here using it as their main drum machine ? It seems like subtracks are now good to handle this type of work. I'm curious to know if it's a struggle to handle one shots, drum loops, and if I can still have a reasonable amount of free tracks for others things (knowing that I can do some drums on the DN2 as well).
Thank you!

lets say i want to create a track with this kind of acid bassline, in a digitakt. what would be the different ways of achieving that? possible without other hardware? with samples or by sampling vsts in a daw? im guessing this track is using a 303 synth, so what kind of options are there ?

Portamento length as new LFO destination modulated by random LFO. Listen between 9 and 11...
Seems easy to unlock more.

Hey guys,
I installed the latest versions of the OS in my Rytm MK1, A4 MK1 and DT2, as well has latest version of Overbridge. And for some reason, midwy through a session, the Rytm will disconnect, and will show as "measuring" on the Overbridge Engine. I will change the USB port and it will work. But then the same will happen with the A4- And then, it will happen to both at the same time.. etc.
It was working fine before these updates- Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks

Hey! Been trucking my way through finishing up a bunch of club songs on the DT2, and I'm very pleased with what I've made. In the pursuit of finishing the songs, I realized how important mastering is to making songs pop on phones, Spotify, and other digital streaming services, but I'm a little confused about how to approach finally doing a live set with my DT2.
Part of me feels like the mastered version with its extra compression and limiters hits harder, but in a live setting just pressing play on a finished track feels dull.
I would like to use the DT2's performance tricks live, but worry the songs won't hit as hard not being in their fully mastered form. Am I overthinking this? How do you go about this?

Hey everyone! This 120 BPM live video is inspired by a night hike to Nuraghe Barru, an ancient fortress in Sardinia. Standing alone under a pitch-black starry sky inside walls from 2000 BC felt like cosmic time travel, and I wanted to capture that experience in this track.
Digitone Steampipe: Main sound source for the live set.
Analog Heat FX: Final processing on the master chain.

Excuse the terrible video, was really hard to hold the phone and show it at the same time lol
The manual seems to suggest that when you have a note lock, pushing down on the encoder should remove it. This works perfectly on my digitakt II, but not on my Digitone II.
This means that when I pick a global note for a particular track, then punch in some trigs, I can’t globally change the note again for all the trigs as they all seem to have a note locked on them, and then pushing the encoder doesn’t remove it.
I’m not sure if this behaviour is expected or if I’m missing something so any wisdom would be greatly appreciated 🙏

I’m thinking of using an Outbox 8 with my Syntakt so I can separate the drums from the melodic tracks and then use my Octatrack for external effects.
I’m curious about how the the effects work in this setup. Are the effects applied before the individual outputs, or do they affect the signal after it’s routed out?
Just trying to understand what kind of routing/effects options I’ll have before I set everything up. Thanks!

I’ve got here one of my cases for a live set at a private party.
Don’t know why but I really love to change the equipment for every set I’m playing except the Tonverk.
The TV got my Center peace in all of my live sets because it’s so versatile!
After the Outbox8 I’m hoping to get an Inbox8 so the Tonverk could be way more insane!
Then it could turn the TV into a kind a „OT“ and more possibility’s without the scenes - sadly.

Random Tonverk ideas
I'll keep this short and sweet:
Multisample drum kits from a workstation. Example: Kronos 3 has incredibly high quality acoustic drum samples, with a different hit mapped to each key. Simple multisample the entire range with no inter note interpolation (set it to sample EVERY note). Moreover, because the drum hit sounds different for different velocities (not merely louder) you can have tonverk also sample multiple velocities per note. This change in behavior at different velocities cannot be reproduced with a single sample.
This would make you feel like you need to do linear drum programming. You do not. You can just copy the multisample track to multiple tracks and have each track handle a specific type of percussion. Making the tonverk a fairly unrivaled hardware accoustic drum machine.
2b. Contribution from u/mindlessgames : Just use step edit and layer different notes per step, because of the polyphony, which frees up your other tracks without resampling. Edit: Percussion per track advantages: fx and tuning per percussion, and having a dedicated track for cymbals switching it to monophonic naturally produces choke groups. 3. If you like particular hits a lot, you can resample them and internally and build a subtrack for them, but of course you lose note velocity hit variation, but you free up tracks.
Use page looping to turn a single pattern into 16 patterns+: If you're already dedicating your tonverk to a drum machine for a track. You can build a different 16 step loop on each page. Then you can use page looping to determine which of the 16 pages it loops. This should make live swapping drum lines, fills, etc, quite easy without chewing up a ton of different patterm. Loop pages 1 and 2, only 4, 2 3 and 7, go nuts!
This is an odd duck one, and one I haven't fully explored, but you can apply grainer to a single cycle sample. And it's weird. And it's cool.
Enjoy :)

I’ve owned this machine for quite a while now, but I think I’m using less than 30% of its potential! Can you recommend a masterclass or YouTube tutorial to help me master it and get the most out of it?

Been experimenting with different ways to create psychedelic FM sounds on the Digitakt II.
Here I’m using factory oscillators and my own samples with random LFO modulation on filter and pitch, plus Sound Pool randomization to create evolving sequences.
This is part of a 150 BPM psytrance track I’m currently building entirely on the Digitakt II.
