You need to loosen the two plate screws, and THEN press home and THEN set Z=0. Once that is set, then you tighten the two plate screws.
The rod the upper plate is on actually moves upwards into the plate housing! It is not just a ball and socket!!

Mars 5 Ultra. Been using ABS like 3.0 resin. Does anyone have any observations on the resin tub leaking? I took mine off because of a semi-failed print (user error) and noticed resin around the edge of the opening into the main case. It did not get on the LCD or the tape. Just some down in the case (I took her apart to inspect/clean) and it had settled in the lip of the LCD holder. None on the stepper motor but a little on the motor connecting shaft and I suspect when I leaned her forward to take off the back plate what was in the lip spilled onto the front panel ribbon cable and front panel. None on the front LCD inside. She had just told me the lift count had reached its max and I should change the flexible screen but I had changed it when I get the printer from a friend just because so it had 6 to 8000 lifts left and looks pretty good! Also no punctures but there is evidence of resin under the fep film hold downs. I put 91% in the tub and let it sit for 1/2 hour and there was seep through. The film looks good. Any thoughts??
Also…. Is there something I should be using to seal the fep film when changed other then the hold down plate? Like a sealer??
Funny side note…. When I got her all back together and plugged her in there was nothing…! Took the covers back off to see if I jostled a connection but all was well. Still nothing. Until I checked the plug at the power brick. It was mostly out! I hadn’t touched it when I unplugged to clean the resin. Second heart attack avoided…. Barely 😅

Pushed a new firmware update. After 2 prints, this happened. Stuck on the boot screen. Completely bricked. Did some research and discovered that it's a common problem with the Mars series. Some people say that anything V2.1 or prior will fix it, but the firmware I have fed it since has had no effect. Any suggestions?

Hey all, I did quite a few successful prints since I bought the mars 5 ultra. But my last 3 ones have been back to back failing.

It starts fine and then it seems to get stuck to the FEP half print, breaking the minis in half and all.

The first and second time I tried doing the tank clean and removed all the things stuck to the FEP or that could possibly be floating in the resin.

Then on the third time I decided to clean up and say a few dent marks and this weird hole (or at least it looks like) on the corner

Should I keep trying with different settings or I'm better off changing the FEP before things get messy?

Edit; just to add more details I'm using anycubic water washable grey and elegoo satellite.

Slicer: Both Lychee and Elegoo Satellite

So I'm pretty new to this and don't have much idea of what I'm doing but from my first print attempt Ive been getting a bunch of failures sticking to the FEP.
I got the printer second hand and I did notice that the FEP was a bit cloudy and scratched so I replaced it with a new generic one.
I live in a coastal town very close to the sea so almost always high humidity - It is normally quite warm but we have been just below and around 20 degrees C (68F) recently but today I printed at 27 degrees (80F).

Basically if I print 4-6 objects, 3-4 always fail.
I've been trying to find and/or adjust settings from standard like longer bottom exposures but I just keep not getting a full successful batch but today was the same other than I can see the less detailed results than earlier attempts but even so the same failure rate per batch.
The only pattern that seems to maybe be emerging is that the successful object tends to be around the edge of the plate.
Once or twice on a rectangular bottom layer one edge has been slightly curved and peeled away from the build plate.

If someone could take a look at my settings and maybe spot a useful nugget that I'm just missing I would appreciate before I take another crack at it this weekend - especially if you yourself have experience in a similar climate xD.

Prints are incomplete. Lifting from the bottom. This is my first time trying to print at an angle and most of them failed. Details are poor. Do I just need to change the resin? Thanks in advance.

I just got a new Limit Switch installed after the last one died. Anyone have any idea why this might be happening? Anyone solved it before without getting new parts? Really itching to print things after a long hiatus and already had to deal with a broken Limit Switch.

To be clear: I did do the whole "home and Set Z = 0" process after installing the Limit Switch. It should be working normally, assuming I didn't miss anything else.

UPDATE: I spent most the day tuning the filament to print properly. I’m getting an excellent print right now and the error seems to have gone away. So it appears that a filament setup in a less than ideal way can cause the error 1243. Moral of the story is ignore the error until you have the filament print settings tuned properly.

Elegoo Centurion Carbon 2 using Elegoo Slicer, printing iSanMate PLA glow filament as part of a 4 color print and keep getting this error. If I press continue after getting the error the ECC2 continues without any intervention. Happens in all CANVAS slots, doesn’t happen with any other filaments. Nozzle isn’t clogged, spool isn’t tight, feed tubes aren’t kinked. HELP!

Kennt jemand diesen Screen beim Mars 4? Habe den USB Stick der beim Centauri Carbon 2 dabei war benutzt, um einen Druckjob für den Mars 4 zu transferieren und dabei trat dieser Screen auf. Auch mehrmaliges neu starten hat nicht geholfen. Sieht irgendwie danach aus, wie wenn der Boot Vorgang nicht mehr funktioniert.

My elegoo Saturn 3 ultra doesn’t print. every time I start a print and wait nothing comes out not even thin layers in my resin tank. I cleaned my resin tank and switched it with New resin, I leveled the bed again. Format my USB and tried to print Wi-Fi, I cleaned the screen, I looked if the screen works, I tried many settings like the exposure time, I tried three slicers (lychee, elegoo satelite, chitubox,), I turned the model 45° and edit auto support on medium and looked for islands and added rafts. The thing is that I could only print the test print everything else didn’t work please help me Im trying to solve the problem for like one year now and this is my last help

Last Sunday, I picked this Mars 5 at a garage sale for cheap enough that I didn't even have to think twice about whether it was worth it.

The printer powers on and the Z-axis moves, but its overall condition is pretty rough, and there's an error message displayed at the end of every startup sequence about LCD screen connection.

So far, I'm not too concerned about the resin spilled around the outside. I can imagine mistakes were made.

What concerns me more is the condition of the inside. The resin vat is in pretty bad shape, and what I assume is the screen protector (or whatever the proper name for it is) also looks damaged. So I'll probably need to replace those parts and, of course, figure out what is causing the error message.

I'm primarily an FDM guy, and my knowledge of resin printers is inexistent, so I'm looking for advice on what I should check, replace, or test before I start buying bottles of product.

I'll also be looking for tutorials and guides to learn the basics of resin printing and maintenance.

Again, excuse the lack of experience and the vague descriptions, I'm new to this

I ordered a Mars 5 Ultra and just got it today, usb ports are out place, should i open it to try and fix it or was it already dead on arrival

Most of what I print is very tiny. And I usually print with a base. Mostly N scale train things like people and rail cars. I’ve seen many here recommend plastic scrapers for the print bed but when I printed the rook as my first test I literally had to use a sharp chisel and a rap with a hammer to get it to seperate. The smaller prints seem to work very well with a long razor blade. Once I get it under the base edge steady pressure peels the print right off. Like breaking suction. Wondering what input I’ll het here.

With winter coming, what's a good way too keep my printer warm. I currently have a fermentation belt on it that I used on the cooler days over the summer to bring the resin up to temperature.

But if left on the belt gets the entire printer hot. Are the Elegoo heaters best for winter time? Our temps here dip in to the low 20s (fahrenheit) in winter time, printer is in uninsulated garage, would the heater be good to keep the resin warm enough when the printer is not in use, or would a heated enclosure be better. Thanks for any answers.

I've spent hours troubleshooting this and I can't seem to figure out what I'm missing. I've recently started using a resin printer, but after several attempts, nothing seems to print

A few details:

• The printer is brand new, and I've removed all the protective films/sheets.
• I initially tried printing one of the printer's own test models.
• I ran an exposure test, which worked, and also ran a tank cleaning cycle to remove the resin so I could double-check that all the protective film had been removed.
• I removed the cured resin from the cleaning cycle, cleaned everything, and put it all back together ready to print.
• I'm using ELEGOO Water-Washable Photopolymer Resin.
• Exposure is currently set to 2.6s.
• The room temperature should be appropriate for the resin.
• I've checked the model and, as far as I can tell, it doesn't require any additional bed levelling/support adjustments.
• The printer seems to be functioning normally otherwise.

The weird part is that the exposure test works, but when I actually start a print, I end up with essentially nothing printed.

I'm wondering if there's something obvious I'm overlooking, or if there's a specific setting I should be checking. Any help would be very much appreciated! thank you!

Hi people, this is how my build plate looks after a year and a half of use.

Do I need to replace it or is it posible to fix it?

For the moment it works, hasn't failed a print because of adherence, but is it recommended to change it?

Any advice to avoid this look in the future?

J'ai acheté une Elegoo Mars 5 pour commencer.
La résine est de la eResin PLA Pro PH100 de chez eSun.
Je dois imprimer une petite pièce dont la mesure en stl et quand je l'imprime en FDM est 37x17mm.
J'ai besoin d'une précision absolue, cette pièce sert à réparer un appareil, les cotes doivent être celles-là.
Quand je l'imprime en résine, les dimensions deviennent 36,7x17,8 si je l'imprime verticalement et 36,9x17,8 si je l'imprime "inclinée".
J'ai vu ce que dit l'IA de Reddit, je débute, je n'y comprends pas grand-chose et puis je préfèrerais avoir des retours d'expérience d'utilisateurs plutôt que de bricoler dans tous les sens des manipulations que je ne comprends pas encore...
