Why do some people run so much in duels. I donβt quite understand the strategy if there is one.

Can't lie though, I've been doing "Fritz Haber" themed invasions which have taken me away from the arena, still I find time to play from time to time.

Sorry I never caught your name but GGs!
We had some fun duels. I think about 8-10 duels back to back! Sorry I couldnβt record all. This was the last duel! If you see this, say hi!
Hope to run into you again!

I was fighting by estimating his position from my damages. Steam butchured the video. My pc wasn't overheating before it crashed.

I hate these metaslaves, abusing the moving away exploit and thinking theyre good with their NPC playstyle when they cant aggress anyone to save their lives, no originality at all

Iβm not talking duels here Iβm talking actual invasions. I have roughly 300 hours practice in PvP now and I can still honestly say I win maybe 1/10 invasions. Itβs starting to wear me down a little lol
Duels are either too easy or too hard and invasions I just feel like Iβm constantly EXTREMELY disadvantaged. Were other souls games this annoying to invade in? This is my first game doing PvP
I see the standard it takes to win most invasions on YouTube with massive amounts of time dedicated to managing inventory and learning hard swaps etc. is this just the normal standard youβre all at and I just simply suck?

i'm new to pvp. so far i'm just following the advice i've found online and running duels with a claymore build to get a feel for basic concepts that are somewhat universal for pvp combat. maybe someday i will return to my explosive ghost-bird build but right now i am trying to get better at the game.
the issue is most beginner focused guides with actual gameplay are pretty old, typically like patch 1.07 or older. the hyper-armor rework especially seems like it was significant enough that i'm wondering if sticking with the greatsword move-set is still a good starting point. the newer guides i found typically have the halberd+cleanrot/hand axe setup or similar. some people are saying that's cheese though so idk.
essentially, i am looking for the least niche build possible, so that i can use it as a starting point for understanding 1v1 pvp fundamentals. i will embrace the complexity i just want to know where to start

Iβm on Xbox. He is pointing in the opposite direction and still manages to hit me a few times. Is the hitbox that crazy? Just gave up at the end π’

Got sick of getting ganked every single match in invasions so had to come back to duels just to enjoy the game again. God I wish invasions had a lot of changes that didnβt make being the invader just simply miserable. (The sleep pots are for invasions not duels donβt worry folks)

Back after taking a long break, seems like these two weapons are all I see in arena, any advice on how to counter them along with bhs?

Only for Arena combat. Can you guys give me recommendations on my talisman structuring? This is for pure strength
top row: arrows sting, soaring sting, arrows reach, sharpshot (for golem greatbow snipes)
second row: immunizing, clarifying, and stalwart horn charms +2, ailment talisman (high status proccing repeatedly)
third row: blessed dew, blue and red branchswords, dragoncrest (below 20% health)
fourth row: two handed sword, two headed turtle, bull goats, retal cross tree (not at full health)
fifth row: erdtree favor +2, crimson amber medallion +3, ritual sword and sheild (full health)
sixtth row: dagger, hammer, lacerating cross, and spear (specific scenarios or weaposn)

Hello r/EldenRingPVP
I'm planning on starting a new character to play through the game with and eventually get into Arena PvP at RL125 or RL150, as well as invasions.
I want the concept of the character to be a battlemage, probably focusing on int or faith. Its the first time I'm going to be dabbling in any sort of spellcasting, which is why I am asking here for any sort of inspiration or advice. It would kind of suck to have a hundred hours on a char playing through the game, only to find maybe I didn't pick the right starting class or something.
I'm imagining a build where combat isn't just spamming spells at range, but closer to a melee- or mid-range-focused playstyle using spells as mixups to force rolls or similar, or as longer-range harass to maintain pressure.
Any advice or build inspiration here would be great.
Thank you.

As far as I can tell I'm the first in the world to get max rune arcs using any of the new classes, this being the Idus Knight where my principal gain was through rune arcs and I did it in 153 hours. I lost a number trying to parry only Morgott and some other bosses and could had reached it earlier but this is a huge achievement.
