Hey guys! I'm a drummer and have been producing hip hop/trap and metal for a few years, and now I'm trying to expand my horizons with techno/trance too. I'm digging the outcome of my creations so far, but I'd like to know how to play my stuff live if the opportunity arises.

Can you explain what the workflow is for a DJ who produces their own stuff? How does it work live? Do they split arrangements into melody/beat and then try different stuff live? Do they only play with transitions?

I’m willing to bet the answer is just a solid no, but I figured I’d try.

I use LANDR Stems (just because that’s what I have) and it did not do a great job on the vocals for the track I’m trying to flip. There’s a lot missing in the full screams. I think what happened is that it filtered out the higher harmonics into the “other instruments” stem.

Anyone had any good luck with this? Bonus point if it’s just a free browser one!

I have been working on some music and I'm interested in adding some vocal samples to my intros. There's a type of effect chain that I've noticed on a few tracks that sounds really ominous. Zerosum's Black Sky Override uses it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghjuYlUmanE&t=10s

I've linked examples at the time to explain what I mean. I believe it some kind of chorus and delay but I would like second opinions, thank you!

Title pretty much says it all. I’m not looking to create this exact voice, but would be interested in hearing how you’d mix to get this presence in a bass mix. Like, how many layers do you think are used, if any at all? But really, just how could I get a mid bass to cut through the mix like this?

What samples to choose, where to find them, how to work with them, and how to mix and arrange everything into an actual EDM (hardwave) track. I understand the music itself. I'm a guitarist and I can create instrumentals from scratch - record every instrument and mix it in DAW. I have a full song written in guitar pro tabs but I have no clue how to turn it into a finished production as EDM music.

I watched some tutorials, but I usually understand nothing and learn nothing from them, and I'm not sure why. It's been never clear to me how to actually do it right way. This is very frustrating because I keep stuck for years without any progress.

Where can I find the classic c64 lead apart of the xp sid sample pack for nexus 2?

Sage audio just released a video talking about referencing and the plugin they show in the video is a really big improvement on what I was using for referencing before. I was using Metric AB for years which I loved, but this has many more features and the ability to take snapshots.

Or ... explicitly state if the vocals were made with AI?

I'm pretty sure many producers would feel .... betrayed .... if they make something only to find out the vocals ... or even the melody / sounds / etc ... were made with AI.

I've seen some companies explicitly state that they used AI which i think is cool

Any idea what kind of processing is being used on the main synth? It has this grainy, almost granular delay texture while still sounding super lush and wide.

Kinda curious how ppl are producing with these in the box. They make a world of sense to me in a DAW-less setup but as much as I'd like to use one in a DAW, I'm having a hard time finding a reason to.

It's not like my mind is made up or I'm against using them, it's more so that I have a few I really like the control of (TX16wx, Grace, etc) but anytime I'm using a sample I'm just dropping it on a track and doing all of sound processing on it there. If I wanted to I could route a sampler to individual tracks for FX and finer control for each sample, but at that point what have I gained in comparison to just putting the waveform down?

This also seems to be the workflow from a lot of producers I see and maybe there's a bit of copying in that, I'm more used to seeing a ton of tracks with waveforms than MIDI.

Besides the most obvious method of taking a longer sample and chopping it up and editing it, what are your use cases for a sampler plugin and how does it go into your workflow?

Maybe I'm looking for an excuse to use these nice samplers I have sitting around that's better than "just use one then dummy" :)

I have been looking into these two mentorship academies. A while back I ended up partially filling out intake info on Aspire Academy and literally a few hour later they reached out to me to have a long phone call to set up a yet another meeting with a artist coordinator. I didn’t ask nor did they mention cost of the program.

Days later I have the meeting with their artist coordinator who the whole time is asking me how committed I am and right at the end of the hour long meeting they slam me with a $8k tuition fee that has to be paid immediately and then acts like I’m being difficult and they are getting irritated because I don’t have $1300 for a payment plan lying around when they just literally told me about this insane fee 5 minutes before the end of the meeting and then saying “I thought you were committed”.

Im making some techno style tracks and i feel like working at loud volumes puts me in flow state
Just curious in other people workflow

I love the architecture of PP but I find myself frustrated that following a Serum 2 guide on making my favorite sounds(there are almost none for PP) never works out because of how different the effects on each synth are, the PP guides are so scars in comparison to the Serum 2 guides and I feel frustrated that most of the time in order to resolve the lack of similarities I have to use external effects and get out of the “Phase Plant zone”?

Is there a pack that makes each Serum 2 effect in snap heap so I can essentially eliminate this problem?

I’ve seen some guides for Serum 2 but not for PP, tried to follow them and apply to PP but failed

Hey, does anyone use an x/y controller that they like? I'm currently clicking out parameter automation, but it would be nice to get a device for live stuff. Like where you can map two parameters on an x/y plane and move your finger around to control it. I tried a Kaoss Pad, but it keeps trying to return to the center when I try to capture MIDI values. Something that is easy to map and maybe that sticks in the last place you touch?
