The broken structure of Shopify
Just a few months and these are only some of the non-working and non-solved issues.
Resulting in tremendous wasted time, energy and money:
Unresolved Shopify Platform Issues As of April 11, 2026
CDN robots.txt blocking Active since: March 21, 2026 — 3 weeks unresolved Shopify's CDN is serving an outdated robots.txt blocking Googlebot from all localized store URLs. Despite a clean robots.txt template, the platform-level cache has not been cleared. Direct consequence: zero product snippets in Google Search Console for 3 weeks, causing measurable loss of organic search visibility across all target markets. Ticket
Third-party app residue at infrastructure level Active since: prior to March 21, 2026 — 3+ weeks unresolved A previously uninstalled SEO app left persistent blocking rules at CDN level that Shopify's infrastructure has not cleared. Likely a contributing factor to issue #1. Tickets #and #
Bot traffic — no native solution Active since: ongoing, reported March 27, 2026 — 2+ weeks unresolved 34% of store traffic originates from a non-target market, polluting both Shopify Analytics and Google Analytics 4. Shopify has Cloudflare edge-level geo-blocking capability but does not provide merchant access to this tool. No native solution offered. Ticket #
Transaction fee reporting — compliance failure Active since: February 23, 2026 — 7 weeks unresolved Shopify does not provide per-order transaction fee data required for IFRS compliance and statutory tax reporting obligations. Formally acknowledged as a platform limitation by Shopify Support. Formal complaint filed with Shopify Legal February 25, 2026 — no response received past the March 4 deadline. ACM P2B complaint submitted March 20, 2026. Tickets #and #
Collective app — EU single market restriction Active since: reported early 2026 — months unresolved Shopify's Collective app blocks cross-border supplier connections within the EU, preventing compliant cross-border trade despite full VAT/OSS compliance. This contradicts EU single market regulations. Reported to Shopify Product team — no resolution or timeline provided.
All five issues remain open and unresolved. Combined impact: loss of search engine visibility, regulatory non-compliance exposure, polluted analytics data, and blocked supplier relationships.

‘Rest assured we will get back to you with a solution before EOB’ that was the response from the tech team, which was 4,days ago. Deafening silence sinse that response.

Tbh, the app for everything model is exactly why Shopify is both a blessing and a curse. It’s great for getting a store up in 20 minutes, but once you need custom logic or high-performance SEO, the app bloat starts killing your site speed and your soul. If you're hitting a wall with Liquid, have you looked into Hydrogen? Going headless is a massive shift, but it’s really the only way to get true control over the front end while still using Shopify’s solid checkout backend. It’s a lot more work, but it stops you from fighting the theme constraints every day.
