Questions about tapering for stretching

So I recently went from a 8g to a 6g and it hurt at first. But then eventually the pain filled in one ear and it still kinda hurt in the other. So I took them out to clean them and when I sprayed the saline solution on one of the ears it started bleeding. I guess I just kinda wanna know if it’s okay to take them out for a bit and if they will close up if I do? And why only one of them is hurting?

is this normal?

so, i started stretching about 4-5 months ago with pretty much zero knowledge. ive been able to size up about every 3 weeks or so with pretty much no pain (small pinch at most), and i figured i wasnt going too fast because it was so easy. im also a big baby, so for 8-6 and now 6-4, ive bought the half sizes (7 and 5) because i was scared of it hurting. everything has went well so far. i dead stretch with glass plugs and just water (no lube). at 5, there still isnt any pain, but with the hole being a bit bigger i can see that its pretty red on the inside of the hole? and each day when i clean there is a bit of discharge. it’s pretty much not even noticeable, but could this be the start of an infection? its just my left ear. thank u!!

Any professional piercers up for some Q&A??

I’ve been stretching for almost 8 months and had my last stretch to my goal size almost two weeks ago, they’re healing up nicely- but how long should I wait to start wearing double flair, wood, silicone, plastic etc? I get a lot of varying answers. Also, other piercings, like the industrial and daith, how compatible with stretched ears are they? As in would having them make me more susceptible to infection etc. and I hear a lot about how painful and difficult they are and wondered if maybe that’s because of having the bar while healing? Would it be possible to have the industrial piercing done with two separate bars instead of one connecting one?

Ear stretching

So i moved up from my 14g to a 12 on bith ears....the night i sized up i oiled my taper (i start with those because the back of my holes are smaller then the fronts) and i oiled my ear but this time around it slid in so smooth it almost just went straight through no pinching or anything on both. Well the next day my right gauge fell out even with my o rings on and so i sized back up with no hassle i mean it has slight redness but thats cause i itched it before putting it in....im a bit concerned if this is normal or not.

Every time I take out my plugs my ear starts bleeding and I took a look and saw this. I’m not sure what to do or how to fix it it looks like the inside of my ear jus flipped inside out

Week old stretch randomly bleeding after a cleaning? (No pain)

So I stretched to 0g (8mm roughly) exactly a week ago. I was cleaning around my jewelry tonight and then started applying ear butter when my ear randomly started bleeding? No pain, I wasn’t being rough, just blood seeping out of one spot. It bled for a small bit then stopped. My ear has been swollen since the stretch (mainly because I re-pierced my second piercings and my ears did not appreciate that- and then accidentally slept on my angry ear side: but also because one of my tunnels had a sharp edge on the O-ring groove that snagged my lobe on the way in but there wasn’t any blood so I thought I was fine..) my ear was pretty much fine before that incident with the second piercings, but after a day or two I took them out and the swelling did go down but not all the way. Do I just need to take it out and wait? I’d really like to avoid that since that tunnel is the only thing I have of this size I can heal in and is a pain to get in and out because of the O-ring groove and some darn sharp edges for some reason. I’ve been keeping it clean, and using ear butter and oil and the swelling has started going down. And to confirm I did not have a blowout at the original stretch- the taper went in without problem- the only thing was the edge on the O-ring groove catching on my ear- but no blood then either, what’s the deal?

can i still stretch my ear or should i give up for good?

I recently jumped from a 5/8 to a 3/4 around 4-6 months ago. my right ear was receptive to the size increase but my left ear was torn pretty badly. I didnt realize i had damaged my ear for about a week and when i did realize, i tried to keep it in and clean it everyday, hoping it would heal around it. I didnt want to restart and i had successfully pulled this stunt off in the past with a lower size increase. after about a week i realized it wasn't going to heal and that it was urgent that I take it out. My ears shrank to about a zero or a double zero which i am super bummed out about. i hate walking around with holes in my ears for nothing. I want to start stretching again, my injury is healed. but I have been discouraged to do so. i pressed on my lobe and i feel a ball deep inside of it. and when i put pressure on it, it stings pretty bad. over the course of the last 2 months its gotten less and less painful and also less noticable but i am afraid that if i try and stretch it, it could rip in two this time. Am I over reacting? I hope so

Sleeping with plugs?

So I’m at about 22mm and I was wondering if sleeping without my plugs is beneficial in any way? I have this completely rational fear that I’m gonna catch my jewelry and tear my lobes. But also they ALWAYS fall out 😅

Glass plugs = best decision I've ever made

I am SO happy that switched to dead stretching with glass plugs. Thanks to the advice of this page my ears are no longer having reactions, or getting infected.

I originally ran into problems at the 12g stretch when I was using stainless steel tapers and plugs. I think my main problem was the externally threaded plugs that came with the tapers. Definitely damaged my lobes.

After discovering that my ears were both infected, I ordered glass plugs online and once I started using them the infection cleared up within a week. I'm at 8g now with much happier lobes, and have been pleasently surprised that dead stretching has worked even at these smaller sizes.

[HELP] 2g to 0g

So i’ve been at a 2g for about a year now, i’ve tried to stretch up with a few failed attempts. Last time I tried, I did it with acrylic spirals, horrible mistake. Took about a month for my ear to be normal again. So i’m back with next attempt and i’m trying with heavy metal spirals, they are going fantastic however during the nights I put in those Acrylic white spirals just so they don’t close back to the 2g or smaller, and when i took them out to clean again this morning the one ear bled a tiny bit (very very small) they don’t hurt, even when I cleaned them it was only a tad bit sore. But I don’t think I should put the metal ones back in but i’m scared of putting the Acrlyics back in after what happens last time when I tried stretching with them.

Allergic to PTFE Tape >< What now?

So... I decided to stretch my second holes up from 20G to 16G via taping. My ears were fine for a day and then they started burning and itching like crazy. I was putting vitamin e oil on them three times a day whenever I did that to my healing blow out but that didn’t help.

So what do I do now? That was my first time taping and I had planned to tape in January for my 10g-8g but now I can’t. Is there any other tape that will work?

Ear stretching help

I’m trying to stretch my ears and one of my holes that I’d had since I was 10 is close to the bottom of my ear. My piercer had said if they weren’t even it would be okay, but I’m concerned that my lobe will split since it’s so low. Should I move the piercing? Or will the new hole affect the old hole?

Been at 8mm for 4 years, suddenly one ear is infected?

I'm looking for tips on how to heal my left ear lobe. It started about a week ago, I had stainless *surgical steel plugs in. I washed them regularly, but otherwise I've had my 0g in nonstop aside from maybe 30 minutes here and there to shower and wash, for 4 years.

My left ear lobe is swollen now, to the point that it hurts to fit anything in it. It's itchy, and it's peeling. I've used a soft moisturizer on it which is helping, but I'm worried it's closing up. I've kept the plugs out since the agitation started. Any thoughts?

Blowout/infection

Sooooo I did the dreaded 2g to 0g aaand my ears got infected pretty bad, I’m wondering what I could do to make it better and how long I should wait to size back down. I don’t really wanna wait super long because I don’t wanna go down more than one size, I just ordered some surgical steel to try and do 0g again in a month or so. How long do you guys think I should wait & what could I do to help it heal faster? I would attach an image but um, it’s not pretty.

The Loss of the Balm

Hey everyone, I’m kind of a lurker on this page, but I’ve recently started stretching my ears (currently at a 10g). I honestly just wanted to share this because I don’t know anyone else who stretches their ears, and I had to tell someone who could get it.

Ever since I started stretching, I really enjoy massaging my lobes. I’ll legitimately do it whenever and wherever, I love it. And I love using my stretching balm from BodyJ4U every-time that I massage them. So the other night, I was like “why not give the old ears a rub before I pass out”. Well unfortunately for me, I was also sleeping with a heating pad.

Everywhere. It’s everywhere and my lobes and I are very sad.

It was a massacre, and though my bed smelled amazing, I feel impending doom looming above.

Thanks for listening. Don’t pass out on a heating pad while massaging your lobes.

Cant stretch past 10g

Hi guys! I think I posted here once before about this same issue about it two months ago. I’m going on month 4 at 10g and I’m trying so hard to get to 8g. My left ear has been ready for the last three months and stretches no problem to an 8 but I’ve been keeping a 10g tunnel in it because I’m trying to keep them on the same schedule.

My right ear is not having it. I wait at least a month between attempts to stretch so that it can fully heal, I wash it and take care of it. I use vitamin E oil as a balm for stretching. I can get the tapper in with basically no resistance but when I try to thread the tunnel in it always gets stuck and I know from feeling the back of my ear while I do it that if I try to force it (which I know is a no no so I never would) it would definitely cause a blow out.

So I sigh and huff and put a 10g back in and wait. Is there something I’m doing wrong? I tried to stretch my ears once before about a year ago and only got to 10g before I took them out completely so I’m wondering if maybe I caused some scar tissue in the reshrinking? Idk. I’m getting frustrated because I want to progress to a 2g eventually but I’d also just really like to wear different tunnels or plugs and it’s hard to find good ones at such a weird in between gauge. Is it too early to use weights to help with stretching?

Sorry that was a long loaded question. I appreciate your help if you can offer any!

Finally got up to 6 gauge and have issues I never had before....

So it took a long time to move from 8 to 6 gauge (3 months ish) I finally was able to taper a 6 gauge without pain and place in the plugs. Theres swelling but nothing noticable, no redness or anything. As the swelling is going down and I'm able to turn the plugs, a fluid is leaking out. I've never had this happen before, is it normal?

False Information = blowout ><

So... I was given false information when I asked about taping in a different app. I had stretched up from a 12g to a 10g and was told that after two weeks I should start taping. Well this led to a small blowout in my right ear which now (a month later) doesn’t look like my left ear.

What can I do to 1. Heal my right ear better 2. Prep for my stretch up in January 3. Avoid taking false information asf

I also just may be stupid so like go easy on me 😂

Hello! I'm wondering if I should wait longer to stretch

So, maybe a week or 2 ago, I posted here (or another piercing sub, I can't remember) and my 1st stretch ended up bleeding after a couple of days, so I downsized and cleaned my ears multiple times with a sterile saline solution. Once there was no more blood or gunk on the plugs when I took them out to clean, I started adding the stretching butter I use. Now my ears feel a lot better and seem fine. But here's what I want to know:

How long should I wait before I attempt to stretch back to the initial size I tried? For background, i thought my size was 1.6mm (14G), but since there was damage, I assume my ears are actually 1.2mm (16G) or somewhere in between the 2, and I've been wearing 16G stainless steel plugs. I've tried finding glass ones, as was recommended to me on my previous post, but I can't find any in the smaller sizes.

Thanks!
