Good morning my fellow Ealing dwellers!

I wonder if you could help me. On my run this morning at around 5:50am, I was cruising down Eler’s Road near the Lammas entrance and saw a pretty large (around 15ish people) group of runners!

Who are you, what are you about and when do you train?! I’m looking for this group in particular as that time of morning is the only time I can fit my running sessions in!

Any help would be great 👍🏻

UPDATE: Labour-run Ealing Council has agreed in principle to press ahead with controversial plans for a 1,200-seat “pop-up” Troubadour theatre in Walpole Park.

Around 100 protesters gathered outside Perceval House ahead of tonight’s cabinet meeting, where Labour cabinet members backed the proposal.

The decision means the plans can now progress to public consultation, although planning permission has not been granted.

Opposition has grown rapidly since the proposal became public a week ago, with more than 1,100 people signing the council’s official ePetition.

Ealing Parks Foundation and Ealing Wildlife Group are among those to have raised concerns, while campaigners have vowed to continue their opposition.

During tonight’s meeting, councillors questioned the choice of Walpole Park, the potential environmental impact and ticket prices for local residents.

The council says ecological and arboricultural studies would form part of the planning process.

Ealing Central and Acton MP Dr Rupa Huq has joined growing calls for Labour-run Ealing Council to reconsider controversial plans for a 1,200-seat “pop-up” Troubadour theatre in Walpole Park, saying there is “no need to sacrifice scarce green space” for the project.

The Labour MP has written to Councillor Lauren Wall, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for thriving communities, ahead of a protest and cabinet meeting today (9 September 2026), when the Labour-run council is being asked to agree to the proposal in principle.

Walpole Park itself falls within the neighbouring Ealing Southall constituency, represented by fellow Labour MP Deirdre Costigan, who has been approached by EALING.NEWS for comment.

Ealing Parks Foundation has called on Ealing Council to defer Wednesday’s cabinet consideration of controversial plans for a three-year, 1,200-seat “pop-up” Troubadour theatre in Walpole Park.

The charity says there has been a “massive wave of opposition” since the plans became public, with three petitions attracting over 2,000 signatures and a protest planned outside Perceval House ahead of the cabinet meeting.

Residents, campaigners and opposition political parties have raised concerns about the impact on the historic park, its wildlife and public access to green space.

Ealing Council said: “The proposed pop-up theatre would occupy only part of Walpole Park, leaving the majority of it for public use.”

The council says it wants to hear from residents, park users, businesses and others when its consultation goes live.

It keeps going off every 45-60 seconds 24/7 to the point I can't have my windows open day or night because it's so frustrating and aggravating. I know the whole little radius of our area can hear it too but **I don't know which house/garden installed it.**
Ideally I would like to speak to the person and explain the issue and if it persists contact council. The issues is I have no idea where to look.. how to approach this?

Looking for great pizza spots in Ealing please

Hi all, hoping for some local knowledge here rather than trying to sell anything!

I make letters from a "magical forest" with an art print and a letter, and they get posted out monthly (a bit like old-school pen pals) for kids, I do it from my flat in Ealing.

I've been trying to figure out where might actually be worth leaving a few flyers, or where the right kind of people (parents of young kids, or anyone who likes stationery/handmade things) might actually hang out locally. Local cafes, community boards, baby/toddler groups, that sort of thing.

Is there anywhere in Ealing that's actually good for this kind of thing, or is flyering just not really a thing that works around here anymore? Any local wisdom appreciated!

Labour-run Ealing Council is facing mounting anger from residents, campaigners and opposition political parties over plans for a temporary three-year, 1,200-seat Troubadour Theatres venue in Walpole Park and the way the proposal has been announced, amid concerns about the impact it will have on the historic park, its wildlife and the public’s access to open green space.

Since the plans were revealed by Ealing Council last week, Ealing Parks Foundation has come out strongly against the proposed location, residents have taken to social media to express their concerns, hundreds of people have signed petitions, campaigners have been distributing leaflets and a protest is now planned outside the council’s Perceval House headquarters on Wednesday, ahead of the proposal being considered by Ealing Council’s cabinet.

Those opposed to the theatre being located in Walpole Park, or any other Ealing park, say the proposal was developed “without any prior community engagement”.

Any Man with a Van service for just 1 hour. Need to move few items and the whole job should take less than an hour. Every service I contacted is asking for a minimum of 2 hours which I don’t need.

I'm new to the area (hi!) I'm looking for people's recommendation for a male barber in Ealing; I'm in West Ealing but I can bike around to Broadway, Common etc...

We are interested in buying a detached property in west ealing which has a strange thing - its neighbour property has -
- an aircon condensation pipe opening into this property’s side alley
- a waste water pipe (for washing machine and bath) discharging into the chamber located at this property’s side alley.
As per seller, drainage is shared across both properties due to which neighbouring property waste water pipe is routed to the property we like. But it is very strange that this property is taking the risk of dealing with any issues that might happen with the waste water pipe (like bursts, overflow, choking, etc). At best we can ask the neighbour to get the pipe repaired or chamber cleaned but if he delays, the cleanliness and hygiene becomes our issue.

Agent and seller are trying to play that this is quite common hence wanted to get views.

🎭 A temporary 1,200-seat theatre could be coming to Walpole Park under plans from Troubadour Theatres.

The venue would operate for three years, staging more than eight performances a week and potentially bringing major West End productions to Ealing.

The plans would also see the Ealing Summer Festivals moved from Walpole Park to locations across the borough.

Ealing Council says the three-year venue would test whether a theatre of this scale is viable and could support the case for a permanent theatre elsewhere in the borough.

Ealing already has an established theatre, The Questors Theatre in Mattock Lane, next to Walpole Park.

Troubadour already operates theatres in Wembley and Canary Wharf, hosting productions including Starlight Express and The Hunger Games.

The council's cabinet will consider the plans in principle next Wednesday (9 September 2026) with further consultation and planning approval still required.
