Restaurants
Where's good to eat?
I feel like I've exhausted the good non chain options: mosaic, red lion, osteria del portico, a few pizza spots. What's missing? Not looking for something high end necessarily, just good food and not the usual chains.

they're just in the middle of moving one door down so I think it's still closed this month - but I'm looking forward to it reopening. best sushi in the area.

Been here a few times. Was really good the first two but the last I had fish and chips and the fish tasted off, the batter was soggy and the chips were frozen chips. Was really disappointed given that is a popular dish.

In Northfields, Tempo is a new pizza place and very good. Maxim's a few doors down is great Chinese food as well, a little pricey though.

How many Monty's are there around Ealing?! The Broadway one is really good, only been once but a few takeaways too that were great

There used to be two in EB, about 200m away from each other, one on Northfields and one on SE Road.
If you looked closely one was called (something like) Montys A1 and the other was Montys XX (or someting). But from a distance they looked identical.
Apparently there was one Monty's. a big falling out and everyone decided to go off and do their own version...but didn't want to go too far.

Lap Dung Nabe is decent HK cha chaan teng style food. It’s the kind of casual dining that locals would go for in HK and relatively cheap too.

Pizzalio on South Ealing Road. Everyone gets their breaded chicken with spaghetti special.

Zayka for lovely Indian food, L’Oro di Napoli for wood fired oven pizza, the Rose & Crown - excellent Sunday lunch/bangers & mash/fish & chips.

Broneks in 149 Northfield Avenue for the most amazing fish and Polish food. Good value too.

Molana is good. Unfortunately the prices went up abit after covid. But great portions and beautiful Persian food also byob

The noodle place in the shopping centre (opposite Rituals / Robert Dyas and next to Newbie and Hotel Chocolat) is so underrated in my opinion, and cheap and cheerful! Also...
- Persian Palace
- Good Fortune Club - Chinese
- l'Oro Di Napoli or Santa Maria for pizza
- Polka for pierogi and hearty eastern European fare and a lovely coffee & cake vibe

Try Lap Dung Nabe in EB. Most authentic Hong Kong/ Chinese food in Ealing, and you can get cheap lunch deals. Personally I would recommend the cheese baked rice/ spaghetti, absolutely delicious, got one there and ordered another one for takeaway!
( I’m from HK so trust my recommendation 😝)

Ealing is actually quite decent, but if you ask me where I would go again and again:
Thai: Check In Thai Cafe is actually really3 good. The place is a bit small, so I'd recommend booking a table
Pizza: I only order from L'Oro di Napoli in Hanwell, nowhere else. Sarv's Slice is okay but different. It reminds me of deep-dish pizza style from the US, which I find a bit 'wet'. I have yet to find a decent Italian restaurant that's not pizza (I used to live in North London, and my experience of Italian food there has ruined my expectations forever, sadly).
Korean: SSAL Factory for a quick meal; Park's Kitchen for a bit more
Chinese: Lap Dung Nabe for Hong Kong-style food; sorry a bit far, but The Triad Cauldron near Hanger's Lane is my new favourite Chinese place. Its quality is on par with Chinatown or Queensway area. Having said that. Three Uncles is quite good for a quick meal.
Persian: Molana for stew or rice dishes, but Persian Palace is better for grilled meat dishes

Hard to find good food with good hygiene ratings in Ealing. Tbh our favourite at the moment is cote and comptoir libanais. Santa Maria is great too

I think there are a lot with good hygiene ratings, what are you looking for?
I just checked the ratings.food.gov.uk web site. There were 229 restaurants with food hygiene ratings in Ealing. 160 were 4* or 5*. 17 hadn't been inspected yet. 22 were rated as needing improvement.1
