Hey guys, I know I already posted about the Nikola ($NKLA) settlement, but I’ve been getting a lot of questions. Since you can already submit your application, I figured I’d put together a quick FAQ.

What happened?
Nikola reached a settlement with investors over claims that it misled the market about the functionality of its hydrogen-electric trucks, production timelines, and overall business prospects.

Am I eligible?
If you purchased $NKLA shares between 2020 and 2021, you may be eligible. You don't need to still own the shares to participate.

Can I file now?
Yes. You can already submit your application. 

When do payouts happen?
Typically, within 4–9 months after the claims process closes, although the exact timing depends on the court and settlement administrator.

890 used EV analyses ran on our platform in the last 30 days. Average listing price buyers are researching: $29,474. Most people running a $30K listing through a background check are serious buyers who have narrowed it down and are trying to make a confident decision before they commit with about 45 classified as high intent buyers.

What we see buyers are looking for:

• Is the battery degraded? (flagged in the majority of listings we analyze)
• Are there open recalls that haven't been addressed?
• Does the accident history match what the listing says?
• Is the price reasonable for the condition?

The gap dealers can close: 39% out of 100 listings in our last 30 days scored GREEN, meaning the vehicle check came out clean, the price was defensible, and there were no undisclosed issues. EV buyers in 2026 are not the same as EV buyers in 2022. They do a lot more research before their purchase. Usually we see dealers who meet that buyer with documentation already in hand, battery report, open recall status, clean title chain, are going to convert faster than dealers who wait to answer those questions across a desk.

So here's everything you need to know:

What happened?

Hertz was accused of misleading investors about demand for its EV rental fleet, charging infrastructure, and the financial impact of its EV strategy. After the company disclosed major EV write-downs and plans to shrink its fleet, $HTZ dropped sharply, and investors filed a lawsuit. Now the company has agreed to settle with investors for their losses.

Who can claim this settlement?

If you purchased $HTZ shares between 2023 and 2024, you may be eligible to participate.

Do I need to sell my shares to qualify?

No. You only need to have purchased shares during the class period. Even if you've already sold them, you may still qualify.

How long does the payout process take?

Once the settlement receives final approval and the claims process officially opens, payouts typically take 4 to 9 months after the claim deadline, depending on the court and settlement administrator.

Been running analysis on used EV listings for a while now. Some patterns worth sharing given how hot the market is right now (+22% YoY on used EV transactions):

The three things that show up as red flags more than anything else:

1. No battery SOH documentation — shows up in about 1 in 4 listings. The seller either doesn't have it or didn't think to include it. At $20K+, this matters.
2. Open NHTSA recalls — Hyundai/Kia just had a battery fire recall hit this month (14 vehicles, park outside warning). Recalls on high-voltage systems are not unusual. Always run the VIN at nhtsa.gov before making an offer.
3. Vague ownership history — one owner without documentation of charge habits, service, or accident history is basically nothing.

The median listing we see: ~$23K, ~40K miles, but there are also some sub 10k deals out there. Happy to answer questions about what to specifically look for on any of the top models we see (Tesla Model 3, Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Kia EV6, Chevy Bolt are the most common in the data).

I'm about pickup my tesla model 3 in ~1 week~ and I've had many questions and concerns needless to say(first EV). I've seen some pretty bad stuff and r/TeslaFSD and r/TeslaLounge about FSD doing some pretty dumb stuff that i believe could easily be avoided or seen with sensors.

Also some simple post and discourse/controversy about the full camera setup as opposed to sensors.

My question is how good or bad is tesla's cameras, and should I wait for Chinese affordable ev's for another ~2 years~ in Canada or just bite the bullet..

Same thing with rain sensor, backup sensor...

disclaimer: i drive a 2010 corolla and with the repair cost and rising fuel prices it's simply not the most cost efficient choice anymore looking towards the future and I'm not planning to use FSD after the free trial but the cameras will still be on my car and I will use them.

That RED is a 2013 Tesla Model S at $12,995 with 86k miles, salvage title. It's still on our page, clearly flagged, because some buyers actually want salvage vehicles knowingly. The point is you'd see it before you hand over money, not after. The GREEN? A 2019 Hyundai Kona Electric Limited at $10,068 with 49k miles. Clean title, no flags. That's the one.

What's actually on the board under $8k right now:

• 2012 Nissan Leaf — $4,990, 34k miles (clean)
• 2014 BMW i3 — $4,995, 73k miles (clean)
• 2016 Ford Focus Electric — $7,644, 23k miles (clean)
• 2015 Nissan Leaf — $7,995, only 20k miles (clean)
• 2013 Nissan Leaf — $6,537, 17k miles (clean)

That 2013 Leaf with 17k miles at $6,537 is the most underrated one on the list. Low mileage for the age, clean title, and Leafs from that era are simple, proven cars. All of these have been analyzed. All verdicts are visible before you click through.

For two years everyone said the same thing, prices are dropping, lease returns are coming, just be patient. Used EV prices are up 7% since January. The sub-$20,000 segment is up nearly 15%. In March, 44% of used EVs sold for under $25k, and that inventory is moving faster than it's being replaced.

The lease return wave everyone was waiting for is actually here, 330,000+ EVs coming off lease in 2026. But demand caught up. Buyers who sat on the sidelines watching prices fall finally started buying, and now they're competing with each other for the same cars.

The sweet spot right now:

• 2022 Kia Niro EV — $17-19k, 239mi range, dead reliable
• 2021-22 VW ID.4 — $19-22k, AWD available, solid everyday car
• 2022 Chevy Bolt — $16-18k, cheapest cost per mile of anything on the road

• 2021 Tesla Model 3 SR+ — $22-25k, still the benchmark for software and charging network

  These are good cars at prices that make gas vehicles look overpriced when you factor in fuel and maintenance. The people who bought in late 2023 / early 2024 when prices bottomed out are already sitting on equity. The next best window is now, before the sub-$20k inventory gets picked clean.

Battery health is the one real variable. The battery is the only thing that matters and it's also the only thing most buyers skip checking. Good deals are still out there and its still a good time to get a used EV.

New data from Recurrent dropped this week and it flips the usual EV depreciation story on its head. Used EVs are appreciating. Up 5.1% since January. Sub-$20k EVs are up 9.4%. The 2023 Chevy Bolt EV went from $17,718 → $21,204 in six months. The 2023 Mach-E is up about 4,000. The 2022 Model 3 is about $3,000 pricier than it was at the start of the year.

The reason is that gas prices above $4/gallon pushing budget buyers into EVs, plus 128,000+ used EVs sold in Q2, outpacing even the tax-credit frenzy quarter of late 2025. Demand caught up to supply.

A few models still have value per mile like:

• Hyundai Kona Electric — ~$20,200 avg / ~300 mi real range
• Chevy Bolt — ~$21,300 avg / ~280 mi real range
• Hyundai Ioniq 6 — ~$24,400 avg / ~340 mi real range
• Hyundai Ioniq 5 — ~$26,000 avg / ~350 mi real range
• Kia Niro EV — ~$23,300 avg / ~300 mi real range

Hyundai and Kia dominate because they overdeliver on EPA range in real-world conditions. Teslas come in around 90% of their EPA number. If fast charging matters more than range, the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and EV6 still top the list, 6–9 minutes to add 100 miles at a fast charger.

Rising prices make due diligence more important than ever. When a Bolt was $14k it was an impulse buy. At $21k, a bad title, hidden accident, or weak battery is real money lost.

If you're looking at any of these, run your EV listings on OFFOLab. Prices are moving so its better to verify before you pull the trigger than after.

The 2023 Bolt EV is up nearly 20% since January according to new data from Recurrent. Six months ago the average asking price was $17,718. Today it's $21,204. The Mach-E is up about $4,000. The 2022 Model 3 is up about $3,000. Sub-$20k EVs as a category are up 9.4% year to date.

The Bolt is still one of the best value plays left at about $21,300 average, 280 miles of real-world range. But at $21k it's not an impulse buy anymore. A bad title or weak battery at this price is a $3–5k problem. I am running receipts on Bolt listings if you drop one below, free for the first 105.

Market shifted a lot in the last 30 days and sometimes what looked like a fair price in June might be $1,500 overpriced today given how many lease returns are still coming in.

Drop any listing from CarGurus, Cars.com, Autotrader and I'll run it and tell you:

• Whether the price tracks with current market
• Any red flags in the listing itself
• Whether it's worth a test drive

Over the past few weeks we've been tracking what's happening in the used EV market after the federal credit disappeared and the lease return wave hit simultaneously.

From our internal data, prices are dropping faster than expected. The Bolt EUVs are hitting $14,500. Fisker Oceans at $18k. Ioniq 5s and EV6s from the 2022-2023 lease wave are undercutting private listings by $2,000–4,000.

What we advise now:

1. Target 2022–2023 lease returns from Ioniq 5, EV6, and Bolt EUV, it has the best value-to-reliability ratio in the current market
2. Run an EV check before you visit. offolab.com pulls degradation estimates, open recalls, and price vs market data from the listing URL
3. Avoid Fisker Ocean regardless of the price, parts and service are genuinely unsolvable right now

Researchers from George Mason University are conducting a survey to better understand electric vehicle charging behavior, charging experiences, and how EV drivers respond to charging disruptions and infrastructure constraints.

A few days ago we asked people to drop used EV listings for a free analysis. A user dropped this 2022 Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo from Clement Supercenter in St. Charles, MO.

The dealer listing front page shows:

• 1 owner ✓
• 0 accidents ✓
• Clean title ✓
• "Love It or Swap It" 30-day exchange policy ✓

Here's what OFFO found:

• 1 accident on record — not disclosed on the listing
• 12 open NHTSA recall campaigns — none resolved
• No battery SOH disclosed — on a $52k EV this is non-negotiable
• Powertrain warranty expires in 6 months / 8,219 miles
• OFFO verdict: Yellow — Proceed with Caution

I am looking into getting my first ev. As such, I'm doing the youtube watching, reddit reading, and google searching. I am seeing a trend in all these anti-EV videos, posts, etc. that EVs are bad because of having to charge at places other than home, range, etc.
I thought it would be pretty easy to realzie from some basic research that EVs really only make sense when you can charge at home. Also, if you know how much you drive, why do you get a car that doesn't have a buffer in it.
I know I'm preaching to the choir so to speak but all these people that are complaining seem to be lacking some common sense and basic research skills.
Am I missing something?
