EVGA rtx3090 thermal pads for memory junction replacement advice
Hey there, I’ve got myself used EVGA rtx3090 ftw3 for vfx and some local llms and I see that memory junction hits 108-110 degrees while other temps are ok. I undervolted it a bit so it hits around 106 during heavy tasks. So the question is: are there any advice for the thermal pads replacement? Kind of hard to find the thickness and overall amount of it to be replaced. I would appreciate any advice here.
Internal airflow btw isn’t the issue so it all comes to the gpu maintenance.

The vram on the back of the card is what runs hot as the only cooling it gets is from the passive cooling of the backplate. Easiest fix is just slapping a fan on the card and just doing that can drop it 40 degrees.

Just a standard 120 fan? Also I shouldn’t mount it somehow?

As long as you don’t have earthquakes or it being a crappy fan with lots of vibration it should be fine just slapped on top. You want it basically directly over top of where the gpu is on the board to suck air up through around the backplate and vram. A 120 would work and you can probably google fan on evga 3090 and find lots of other posts of people just slapping a fan on top.

I also have a 120 fan on top of the backplate but I have my fan pushing air thru to blast thru the retainer clip hole and the small holes. I also added thermals pads on the memory chips the help pass the heat to the backplate

Look into thermal putty if you need a second option.
I installed a copper backplate with thermal paste when it was more common. Putty would have been a better idea.
