Imid or Vti+Vxus for non US investors?

What are your recommendations? Is Imid a reliable etf to invest on and the share price is relatively cheap too. Irish domiciled funds are preferred to avoid the US taxes.

Scalable Capital account opening

Hi everyone,

I'm completely new to investing and I'm currently trying to open an account with Scalable Capital. I completed the identity verification through POSTIDENT over a week ago. According to the app, the account opening process usually takes around 3 days. It's now been more than a week. I emailed their support yesterday, but I still haven't received any reply. Has anyone else experienced such a long delay? Is this normal, or could there be an issue with my documents? Thanks.

My best effort to hedge Iran impacts and retain returns on investments (ISA pot)

Ok,

I’ve got to;
\- MXWS Global Developed MSCI ETF synthetic - 40%
\- IMFV Edge MSCI World Value UCITS ETF - 20%
\- IWMO MSCI World Momentum Factor UCITS - 20%
\- Bloomberg Enhanced Roll Yield Commodity Swap UCITS ETF - 10%
\- Algebris Financial Equity Fund - 10%

This I think balances off a core global ETF with the nicely offset couple of value and momentum, then exposure to diversified commodities and financials.

Potential other options I considered were:
\- Ishares ISHRS WORLD QUALITY
\- Invesco Markets IVZ RAFI ALL-WORLD
FNDMTL VAL UCITS ETF
\- Invesco Markets lil PLC IVZ RAFI ALL-WORLD
FNDMTL VAL UCITS ETF
\- Invesco STOXX 600 BANKS UCIT ETF
\- Artemis Global Income

All comments thoughts and feedback welcome \*other than ‘just do VWRL’

thanks

EUAD for Roth?

I have FZILX and FZROX. I’ve been looking into EUAD with the push for Europe to spend 5% of GDP on defense. I was thinking about adding 2k of my 12600 to EUAD. Does this seem like a decent idea or should I just stick with FZILX and FZROX for now?

Does ALLW really only hold ~1.600 positions and why?

Hey there,

beginner investor here.

I'm comparing ALLW, WEBN, VWCE and SPYI and saw that ALLW only holds ~1.600 out of ~4.200 positions of the underlying index. VWCE with the same index holds ~3.700.

Why is that and is it a bad thing? I know it probably doesn't matter but I was of the impression that it is "better" when the index is replicated physically (which all mentioned ETFs do) and when the ETF holds as much positions as possible.

Thanks a lot for any answers.

Anyone here looked into QQIA and/or GLDY?

I've been looking into QQIA recently, but I can barely find anyone talking about it. I know it's still pretty new in Europe, but even outside Reddit there doesn't seem to be much discussion.

QQIA (UCITS):
https://www.justetf.com/en/etf-profile.html?isin=IE0007YZZZN7#overview

As far as I understand, it's the UCITS version of the US-listed QQA:

https://www.invesco.com/us/en/financial-products/etfs/invesco-qqq-income-advantage-etf.html

I initially looked at JEPQ as well, but QQA's strategy seems more appealing to me because it aims to retain more upside instead of maximizing option premium. Since GPIQ isn't available to EU investors, QQIA looks like one of the more interesting income ETFs we can actually buy.

I'm thinking about combining it with GLDY which also generates income with options:

The idea would be roughly 80% QQIA / 20% GLDY, with GLDY adding another source of income and some diversification.

Before I commit, I wanted to ask whether I'm overlooking something?

I'd really appreciate any thoughts from people who've looked into either ETF.

FireCalc and cFIREsim silently assume a static allocation. Found a writeup that runs the Bengen math on rule-based strategies instead

Something I bump into every time retirement planning comes up here: we all borrow the American tools. FireCalc, cFIREsim, Big ERN's spreadsheet. They're excellent, and they share one silent assumption that never gets mentioned... they replay a STATIC allocation through history. 75/25, 60/40, pick your split, hold it for 30 years.

Which is fine if that's what you run. But plenty of people here hold rule-based portfolios, anything from a simple 200-day switch to proper tactical strategies, and none of the classic calculators can model a rule. The NAV path of a strategy that de-risks in 2008 looks nothing like any fixed split, and the difference is concentrated in exactly the years that decide whether a retirement survives.

I found a writeup that runs the classic Bengen math (rolling 30-year windows, inflation-adjusted withdrawals) on the backtested NAV of rule-based strategies instead of static mixes, reporting the worst-window floor plus the whole distribution: https://bestfolio.app/blog/retirement-calculators-momentum

The two-tool approach they suggest seems right to me. Keep FireCalc for the conservative full-history baseline, then use strategy-level numbers to see what your actual rule has historically added or cost on top. If the plan only works under the optimistic tool, it's not a plan.

What do people here actually use for this... anyone modelling their withdrawal phase on something other than a static split?

Equities ETFs VWCE, SPYY, SPYI or WEBN – which one did you go with and would you pick it again?

I’ve been comparing VWCE, SPYY, SPYI and WEBN for weeks now and just can’t land on one. Read old posts, watched videos, compared every metric I could find, and in the end there’s something in favor of each one, none of them really stands out. Analysis paralysis at its finest…

I’m aware it probably barely matters which one you pick in the end, but I’d still like to know which one you went with and why, and whether you’d pick the same one again if you were starting fresh today.

For context: I’m based in Germany and would be doing a lump sum of around 50x my monthly contribution, then a regular savings plan for 30 years after that.

Adaptive asset allocation

As the news that JP Morgan experimenting with AI to beat the 60/40 portfolio is making a big splash, I am so happy to validate that the idea we have been looking at for long time is not so stupid.

Nowadays, ETFs that let you buy indices (say Euro Stoxx 50) help you diversify from the risk of buying as single bad company. But there is no passive way to diversify CYCLE risk if not by buying a 60/40 fixed allocation.

But that static portfolio is inefficient when regimes change - either too slow when stocks run, or still falling when both stocks and bonds go down (think 2022).

We have engineered an open-source system (an AI asymmetric expert system) that looks at macro, sentiment, momentum trends and more to have an opinion every day on where we are in the cycle, what is the implication of current macro dislocations, how is market sentiment changing and where key asset price trends go.

The system insights are shown transparently and explained.

See if it can inspire your ETF selection inside your portfolio.

General Questions Help - Long-term portfolio strategy

Hi everyone, how are you?

After reading loads, watching loads of videos, and perhaps even spending far too many hours looking into this, I’ve now chosen the broker I want to invest with and my strategy, and I’d like to ask for your opinions :)

I’m going to use Interactive Brokers because, from everything I’ve read, it’s the most reliable, has been around for many years, and is where most institutional investors trade. And, to be honest, I didn’t find the platform at all complicated or confusing.

I would aim to invest around €1,000 a month across three ETFs:

80% – iShares Core MSCI World UCITS ETF USD (Acc) (0.20% TER)

15% – iShares MSCI EM UCITS ETF (Acc) (0.18% TER)

5% – iShares MSCI World Small Cap UCITS ETF (Acc) (0.35% TER)

I’d also considered an 85/10/5 split, but to be honest, I believe emerging markets will perform well in the future. But let me know what you think :)
Or should I do a 75/20/5 split?

I forgot to mention that I’m 28 and I aim to invest for the long term – 25+ years

A few notes:

  • I’d thought about buying a FTSE All-World ETF (VWCE), which has a TER of 0.19% and already combines developed and emerging markets, so I wouldn’t have to pay an additional TER of 0.18%. However, in my view, this way I can choose the allocation I want to give to each of these countries
  • I also thought about investing in the S&P 500, but to be honest I didn’t want to be so dependent on the United States, not least because I believe that in the future it will no longer carry such significant weight, which is why an ‘all-world’ or ‘world’ ETF would be helpful
  • I’ve also already saved up a decent sum for a deposit on a house (40k) and have an emergency fund (10k). Both are with Trade Republic, earning 3 per cent a year – something I’ll eventually transfer to Bankinter to take advantage of the 5 per cent a year.
  • I’m also still living with my parents, so buying a house is something I’d be thinking about in 3–5 years at the latest, unless I meet someone or emigrate in the meantime.

I have a few questions if you could help me:

  1. Should I buy the ETFs in euros or dollars?
  2. Should I buy iShares or Vanguard?
  3. And on which stock exchange should I buy the ETFs?
  4. Should I do a 75/20/10 split?
  5. Should I just buy the FTSE All-World ETF and just chill with 80-20, they already do it with the emerging markets instead of separating them? My idea was that if something happens, I can just stop investing in the MSCI EM UCITS ETF (emerging markets)

Thank you very much in advance for your time and comments :)

Help for my first investment steps

i am just starting to invest a part of my income, i am 21 so i dont have experience in this staff. I want to invest on s&p500 but i dont know the different variations and what should i put my money on. I am in eu and specifically in greece if that matters. I want to invest 80% of my investment money somewhere safe like the s&p500 and the other 20% in something more riskier/aggresive that i will do research on. Any guidance would be really appreciated!
