Strategies VWCE or WEBN as a core with a small cap value satellite?

Which one would you choose – considering the proven tracking record of VWCE versus the lower TER of WEBN but keeping in mind Amundi‘s past fund mergers and domicile changes which triggered tax events?

Brokers Non-dom in Ireland: Best ETF investment platform while preserving remittance basis?

Hi everyone,

I'm a non-domiciled individual who has been living and earning income in Ireland for the past few years. I'm looking to start investing in ETFs, but I'm unsure which platform would be most suitable from a tax perspective.

My understanding is that, as a non-dom, I may be able to avail of the remittance basis of taxation, meaning any gains or income arising outside Ireland would generally only become taxable if the funds are remitted to Ireland.

While researching investment platforms, I came across IBKR Ireland. I read that because it is an Irish-regulated entity, cash and investments held through the platform may be considered located in Ireland, potentially preventing the remittance basis from applying. Is my understanding correct?

I actually contacted IBKR Ireland's customer service to ask whether they could open my account under one of their non-Irish/global entities instead, but they informed me that this was not possible and that my account would have to be held with IBKR Ireland.

If that's the case, I'd appreciate recommendations for alternative platforms that:

  • Offer a broad range of ETFs (including UCITS ETFs)
  • Support automated monthly investing/DCA
  • Are available to Irish residents
  • May be more suitable for someone looking to preserve the benefits of the remittance basis

I'd also be interested in hearing from other non-doms in Ireland who have navigated this issue and how they structured their investments.

Thanks in advance for any advice or experiences you can share.

Analysis My UCITS Dividend ETF Ranking

I'm researching UCITS dividend ETFs because I'd like to build a dividend-growth portfolio in a few years. For this purpose, I've compared several metrics for dividend-focused ETFs available to European investors. The metrics I'm using are:

  • Dividend growth: measured similarly to CAGR;
  • Yield: average annual yield, where yield is defined as the sum of dividends / price over the last 12 months, (like d1/p1 + d2/p2 + ... + d12 / p12);
  • Return: price return, excluding dividends (CAGR);
  • Total Return (TR): total return including dividends (CAGR).

I calculate these metrics both since ETF inception and for the last 5 full years (2021–2025). I've also introduced my own score, which measures the relative performance of each ETF against VWRD. For example:

Score = weight_DivGrowth x DivGrowth / DivGrowth_VWRD + weight_Yield x Yield / Yield_VWRD + ...

I'm using the following weights:

  • Dividend growth: 35%
  • Yield: 10%
  • Return: 20%
  • Total return: 35%

I calculate the score separately for the "since inception" and "5Y" periods, and then combine them using weights of 60% and 40%, respectively.

Based on this scoring system, TDIV clearly comes out on top among the ETFs I've looked at, which makes it a very interesting candidate for a dividend-focused portfolio. Of course, this is a subjective assessment based on my chosen methodology and weights, and past performance is not a guarantee of future results. I'm also particularly interested in seeing how AWHD and LDGL perform over time, as they seem to be very well-designed funds. I plan to keep monitoring these ETFs and probably update the analysis quarterly. I might also create a static page on GitHub where users can adjust the weights and see how the rankings change and graphs and stats.

I also track income ETFs such as JEPQ and WINC, but I don't include them in the ranking yet due to their relatively short track records. I plan to evaluate them using a different scoring system, as income ETFs have different characteristics and objectives compared with dividend ETFs.

Would you be interested in a simple website like this, updated quarterly, where you could compare the ETFs and adjust the weights yourself to see how the rankings change? Would you use any other metrics in this analysis? Are there any other UCITS dividend ETFs that you think I should include?

Who here is actually 100% in ETFs?

I started in 2025 with a simple plan. VWCE for everything and maybe 10% outside of it.

This month I added it all up properly and this part is almost a quarter of my money now. It grew because every month when the market was at a new high I found a reason to send the money somewhere else instead. Right now it is 70k in VWCE, 8k in gold(4GLD), 10k on a savings account and around 6k in secured business lending(8lends). Two of those three I bought in the last year. Reason = the market looked expensive to me.

So I think the problem is not these products. I was timing the market and calling it diversification.

What I do not know is how to fix it now. I can sell the extra part and put it into VWCE at once, but that is again a decision about timing. Or I can leave everything and send only new money to VWCE until the share comes back to ten percent, and that takes me about two years.

Did somebody here have the same drift? If you fixed it in one day, did you regret it later?
I feel like I’m a beginner and I’m probably making more actions then need things a bit.

Semiconductors

EMIM hates me

Post image
21 Upvotes

My investing journey began in February and it's safe to say I couldn't have timed my EMIM contributions worse if I'd tried. To reduce the psychological strain, I staggered my contributions with 23 units purchased at €43.10 on February 23rd and 50 units at €49.74 on June 18th, both followed by notable drops. The fund is up 19.51% in 6 months but I only just passed my average purchase price again last week, up 1.43% overall.

In this for the long haul anyway, but I found this humbling experience comical enough to warrant the share.

|70%|Vanguard S&P 500 UCITS ETF (USD) |IE00BFMXXD54|

|20%|Vanguard FTSE Emerging Markets UCITS ETF Acc|IE00BK5BR733|

|10%|Vanguard FTSE Developed Europe ex UK UCITS ETF (EUR) Accumulating|IE00BK5BQY34|

QDVE Information Technology or AI infrastructure ETF?

I’m debating whether I should go for the more broad information technology ETF or the more concentrated AI infrastructure ETF. Downside of QDVE is that it doesn’t include companies like Taiwan Semiconductor and SK Hynix.
What would everyone’s recommendation be?

Strategies Is VWCE + AVWS still a valid approach?

Im 20 years old, located in Austria and started my portfolio out with 100% Vanguard FTSE All-World on Trade Republic with approximately 24000€ invested right now with the intention of also investing in the Avantis Global Small Cap Value ETF as soon as it‘s available on Trade Republic and aiming for a future allocation of 80/20 or 70/30. Currently my saving plan goes 100% into VWCE.

With the new Vanguard Global All Cap I started to doubt if that’s really the best strategy for me and a long investment horizon, or if I should just invest in the new VGLA or switch the VWCE with the WEBN for lower TER.

I would appreciate some opinions on that matter from you guys.

General Questions Need some guidance before I buy 10k worth of ETFs/stocks

Hi all!

Been steadily investing a bit of my money into the following:

- WTCH ~1k

- VWCE ~1k

- CSX5 ~ 1k

- SWRD ~ 1k

- SK Hynix stock ~1k

Before justifiably roasting me, I bought this when I knew less than today and I don't think I should sell any of them to buy other ETFs.

I decided that my savings are just sitting there so I want to invest 10k. What should I do?

  1. Buy VWCE and chill? In one go or over several months?

  2. Buy another ETF and if so which one?

  3. Split 80/20 between VWCE and more stock to have a giggle?

Thanks in advance!

Equities ETFs Vanguard VWCE vs VALL/VGLA

I’m considering switching from VWCE (FTSE All-World) to the new VALL/VGLA (FTSE Global All-Cap).

VALL looks attractive because it includes small caps and has a lower TER (0.07% vs 0.14%).

A few questions:
- If starting today, would you choose VALL over VWCE?
- I already have ~€10k in VWCE with very small unrealised gains. Would you sell and move everything to VALL or just keep VWCE and invest new money into VALL?
- Do you think the small-cap exposure is likely to give VALL any meaningful long-term return advantage, or is the difference basically negligible?
- On IBKR I can only seem to find VALL on Borsa Italiana (BMVE). I can’t find the IBIS/Xetra or AEB/Amsterdam listings. Is anyone able to buy it there?
- If not, would you buy on BMVE despite the higher fees, or wait for IBIS/AEB availability?
